There are plenty of optimization models for the signal-system of a single intersection and area traffic. Some of those models are adopted for the real traffic signal control system. The simulators for a single crossroad have been developed, so that we could evaluate optimization models and traffic control systems. However, the simulators for the area traffic are still being developed. Therefore, there are some limitations in the analysis and evaluation for area traffic control systems, The area traffic is consist of several intersections interconnected which are very complicated and many traffic strategy are adopted for the control system. This paper features an effective area traffic control system by High Lever Architecture(HLA) which is a new developed simulation tool. In this paper, we discuss the design of HLA-based area traffic control simulation. We describe technical motivations for the HLA, the key elements of the architecture and how they are minimum and essential to the goal of reuse and interoperability.
A simulation system is needed to train students and mariners in order that they can take suitable actions to evade typhoon's strike promptly and sufficiently. In order to make such kind of system, three kinds of models about the typhoon are necessary, typhoon prediction model to generate typhoon's track, wind & wave-field model to make sea conditions around the typhoon and evaluation model of trainee's action whether their actions were suitable or not during simulation. We have developed the prediction and wind & wave-field models of typhoon, but the evaluation model has not been developed yet. In this paper, after making a method for evaluating trainee's actions by seakeeping performance, we propose an typhoon avoidance simulation system for training mariners so that they can promote their abilities to evade the typhoons at sea.

A fast gamma-ray dose rate assessment method for complex geometries based on stylized model reconstruction and point-kernel method is proposed in this paper. The complex three-dimensional (3D) geometries are imported as a 3DS format file from 3dsMax software with material and radiometric attributes. Based on 3D stylized model reconstruction of solid mesh, the 3D-geometrical solids are automatically converted into stylized models. In point-kernel calculation, the stylized source models are divided into point kernels and the mean free paths (mfp) are calculated by the intersections between shield stylized models and tracing ray. Compared with MCNP, the proposed method can implement complex 3D geometries visually, and the dose rate calculation is accurate and fast.

Due to an increased demand for longevity risk analysis, various stochastic models have been suggested to evaluate uncertainly in estimated life expectancy and the associated value of future annuity payments. Recently updated data allow us to analyze mortality for a longer historical period and extended age ranges. This study followed up previous case studies using up-to-date empirical data on Korean mortality and the recently developed R package StMoMo for stochastic mortality models analysis. The suitability of stochastic mortality models, focusing on retirement ages, was investigated with goodness-of-fit, validity of models, and ability of generating reasonable sets of simulation paths of future mortality. Comparisons were made across various types of models. Based on the selected models, the variability of important estimated measures associated with pension, annuity, and reverse mortgage were quantified using simulations.
The behaviour of concrete confined by transverse reinforcement is a classical topic. Numerous studies have been conducted to establish the stress-strain relationships for concrete under various confining reinforcement arrangements. Many empirical and semi-empirical formulas exist. Simplified analytical models have also been proposed to evaluate the increase in the strength and ductility of confined concrete. However, relatively few studies have been conducted to utilise advanced computational models for a realistic simulation of the behaviour of concrete confined by transverse reinforcement. As a matter of fact, high fidelity simulations using the latest numerical solvers in conjunction with advanced material constitutive models can be a powerful means to investigating the mechanisms underlying the confining effects of different reinforcement schemes. This paper presents a study on the use of high fidelity finite element models for the investigation of the behaviour of concrete confined by stirrups, as well as the interpretation of the numerical results. The development of the models is described in detail, and the essential modelling considerations are discussed. The models are then validated by simulating representative experimental studies on short columns with different confining reinforcement schemes. The development and distribution of the confining stress and the subsequent increase in the axial strength are examined. The models are shown to be capable of reproducing the behaviour of the confined concrete realistically, paving a way for systematic parametric studies and investigation into complicated confinement, load combination, and dynamic loading situations.
In this study, a model integration method is pressented as a new method for development of a parametric simulation model. This method enable us to integrate the special simulation models for each production subsystem into a large simulation model. Not only this large simulation model but also each special simulation model for each production subsytem can be used independently. Using this integration method man can reduce the development time and cost for simulation model development. To show the usefulness of this method, a simulation model for a production system with robots is developed by this model integration method. This simulation model is realized by the integration of two special simulation models, one model for a machining subsystem and the other model for a transport subsystem. The modeled production system consists of the robotic cells for machining and a transport subsystem which enable the material flow among the robotic cells. The flow of workpiece in each robotic cell is not fixed. All machines in a robotic cell are only served by robots.
In this paper the operational characteristics of stand-alone microgrid was analyzed using RTDS simulation models. The accuracy of developed simulation models were verified by comparing with the analysis results using the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation models. The proper scenarios and operation algorithms were developed and analyzed in accordance with various situations that can occur in the actual system, so as to establish operation scheme for the stand-alone microgrid system. The developed simulation models can be effectively utilized to design a newly installed stand-alone microgrid and to develop various operation scenarios for stand-alone microgrid. And these models can be applied for analyzing the transient phenomena due to system fault so that system protection can be properly designed.
Development of distributed simulation environment must be required in order to simulate the distributed models regionally and inter-operate with running simulations individually, Simulation based on DEVS formalism is difficult to simulate the distributed models. DEVS formalism is modeling methodology. To specify model, this formalism separates behavior and structure, therefore it is able to design complex model easily. HLA is standard framework of distribute simulation environment, It is defined to facilitate the interoperability and the reusability. RTI (Run Time Infrastructure) is software that provides common service to simulation systems and implementation of the HLA Interface Specification. Method of implementation is that modules cooperating with RTI are added to simulator on DEVS simulation environment. On the DEVS simulation environment (DEVS-Obj -C) that already developed, Highest class of abstract simulator uses service that RTI provide, then This environment is able to change DEVS model into Federate and run distribute simulation that inter-operates with the RTI. Because this distributed simulation environment includes convenience of modeling that obtains through the DEVS formalism and accompanies HLA standard, this environment make it possible to simulate with_ complex systems and heterogeneous simulations
Most of supply chain simulation models have been developed on the basis of discrete-event simulation. Since supply chain systems are neither completely discrete nor continuous, the need of constructing a model with aspects of both discrete-event simulation and continuous is provoked, resulting in a combined discrete-continuous simulation. Continuous simulation concerns the modeling over time of a system by a representation in which the state variables change continuously with respect to time. In this paper, an architecture of combined modeling for supply chain simulation is proposed, which presents the equation of continuous part in supply chain and how these equations are used supply chain simulation models. A simple supply chain model is demonstrated the possibility and the capability of this approach.
