Design of 3-bit Arbitrary Logic Circuit based on Single Layer Magnetic-Tunnel-Junction Elements (단층 입력 구조의 Magnetic-Tunnel-Junction 소자를 이용한 임의의 3비트 논리회로 구현을 위한 자기논리 회로 설계)

  • Magnetic Tunneling Junction (MTJ) has been used as a nonvolatile universal storage element mainly in memory technology. However, according to several recent studies, magneto-logic using MTJ elements show much potential in substitution for the transistor-based logic device. Magneto-logic based on MTJ can maintain the data during the power-off mode, since an MTJ element can store the result data in itself. Moreover, just by changing input signals, the full logic functions can be realized. Because of its programmability, it can embody the reconfigurable magneto-logic circuit in the rigid physical architecture. In this paper, we propose a novel 3-bit arbitrary magneto-logic circuit beyond the simple combinational logic or the short sequential one. We design the 3-bit magneto-logic which has the most complexity using MTJ elements and verify its functionality. The simulation results are presented with the HSPICE macro-model of MTJ that we have developed in our previous work. This novel magneto-logic based on MTJ can realize the most complex logic function. What is more, 3-bit arbitrary logic operations can be implemented by changing gate signals of the current drivel circuit.

Integrity evaluation of rock bolt grouting using ultrasonic transmission technique (초음파 투과법을 이용한 록볼트 그라우팅의 건전도 평가)

  • As one of the main support systems, rock bolts play a crucial role in the reinforcement of tunnels. Numerical and experimental studies using a transmission method of ultrasonic guided waves are performed to evaluate the integrity of rock bolts encapsulated by grouting paste. Numerical simulations using "DISPERSE" are carried out for the selection of the optimal experimental setup, i.e. non-destructive testing (NDT) system of the rock bolt. Based on results of the numerical simulation, the calculated frequency range for NDT testing is between 20kHz and 70kHz with the first longitudinal L(1) mode. Laboratory transmission tests are performed by attaching the piezo electric sensor at the tip of the rock bolt before embedding. Both of analytical and experimental results show that the amplitude of signals as well as the wave velocity increases with increase in the defect ratio of grouting paste. The defect in grouting paste means that the space around the rock bolt is not fully filled with the grouting paste. Experimental results also show that the increase of the wave velocity is more sensitive to the defect ratio increase than that of the amplitude. This study demonstrates that the transmission technique of ultrasonic guided waves may be a valuable tool in the evaluation of the rock bolt integrity.

Implementation of FFT on Massively Parallel GPU for DVB-T Receiver (DVB-T 수신기를 위한 대규모 병렬처리 GPU 기반의 FFT 구현)

  • Recently various research have been conducted relating to the implementation of signal processing or communication system by software using the massively parallel processing capability of the GPU. In this work, we focus on reducing software simulation time of 2K/8K FFT in DVB-T by using GPU. we estimate the processing time of the DVB-T system, which is one of the standards for DTV transmission, by CPU. Then we implement the FFT processing by the software using the NVIDIA's massively parallel GPU processor. In this paper we apply stream process method to reduce the overhead for data transfer between CPU and GPU, coalescing method to reduce the global memory access time and data structure design method to maximize the shared memory usage. The results show that our proposed method is approximately 20~30 times as fast as the CPU based FFT processor, and approximately 1.8 times as fast as the CUFFT library (version 2.1) which is provided by the NVIDIA when applied to the DVB-T 2K/8K mode FFT.

Design of 2-Ch DC-DC Converter with Wide-Input Voltage Range of 2.9V~5.6 V for Wearable AMOLED Display (2.9V~5.6V의 넓은 입력 전압 범위를 가지는 웨어러블 AMOLED용 2-채널 DC-DC 변환기 설계)

  • This paper proposes a 2-ch DC-DC converter with a wide-input voltage range from 2.9V~5.6V for wearable AMOLED displays. For positive voltage VPOS, a boost converter is designed using an over-charged voltage permissible circuit (OPC) which generates a normal output voltage even if over-input voltage is applied, and a SPWM-PWM dual mode with 3-segmented power transistors to improve efficiency at light load. For negative voltage VNEG, a 0.5x regulated inverting charge pump is designed to increase power efficiency. The proposed DC-DC converter was designed using a 0.18-㎛ BCDMOS process. Simulation results show that the proposed DC-DC converter generates VPOS voltages of 4.6 V and VNEG voltage of -0.6V~-2.3V for input voltage of 2.9V to 5.6V. In addition, it has power efficiency of 49%~92%, output ripple voltage has less than 20 mV for load current range of 1 mA~70 mA.

  • Excessive memory buffer requirement in continuous media playback is a serious impediment of wide spread usage of on-line multimedia service. Skewed access frequency of available video files provides an opportunity of re-using the date blocks which has been loaded by one session for later usage. We present novel algorithm which minimizes the buffer requirement in multiple sessions of multimedia playbacks. In continuous media playback originated from the disk, a certain amount of memory buffer is required to synchronize asynchronous disk. Read operation and synchronous playback operation. As aggregate playback bandwodth increases, larger amount of buffer needs to be allocated for this synchronization purpose. The focus of this work is to study the asymptotic behavior of the synchronization buffer requirement and to develop an algorithm coping with this excessive buffer requirement under bandwidth congestioon. We argue that in a large scale continuous media server, it may not be necessary to read the blocks for each session directly from the disk. The beauty of our work lies in the fact that it dynamically adapts to disk utilization of the server and finds the optimal way of servicinh the individual sessions while minimizing the overall buffer space requirement. Optimality of the proposed algorithm is shown by proof. The effectiveness and performance of the proposed scheme is examined via simulation.

  • The HCCA reserves the channel resources based on the mean data rate in IEEE 802.11e. It may cause either the waste of channel resource or the increase of transmission delay at MAC layer if the frame size is rapidly varied when a compressed mode video codec such as MPEG video is used. To solve these problems, it is developed that the packet scheduler allocates the wireless resource adaptation by according to the packet size. However, it is difficult to perform the admission control because of the difficulty with calculating the available resources. In this paper, we propose a CAC mechanism to solve the problem that may not satisfy the QoS by increasing traffic load in case of using EDCA. Especially, the proposed CAC mechanism calculates the EB of TSs using the traffic information transmitted by the application layer and the number of average transmission according to the wireless channel environment, and then determines the admission of the TS based on the EB. According to the simulation results of the proposed CAC mechanism, it admitted the TSs under the loads which are satisfied within the delay bound. Therefore, the proposed mechanism guarantees QoS of streaming services effectively.

  • The water level control system of the steam generator in a pressurized water reactor and its control problems are analysed. In this work the stable control strategy during the low power operation and transient states is studied. To solve the problem, a fuzzy logic control method is applied as a basic algorithm of the controller. The control algorithm is based on the operator's knowledges and the experiences of manual operation for water level control at the compact nuclear simulator set up in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. From a viewpoint of the system realization, the control variables and rules are established considering simpler tuning and the input-output relation. The control strategy includes the dynamic tuning method and employs a substitutional information using the bypass valve opening instead of incorrectly measured signal at the low flow rate as the fuzzy variable of the flow rate during the pressure control mode of the steam generator. It also involves the switching algorithm between the control valves to suppress the perturbation of water level. The simulation results show that both of the fine control action at the small level error and the quick response at the large level error can be obtained and that the performance of the controller is improved.

  • The objective of this study is applied to office buildings to evaluate quantitative evaluation method about performance of double-skin at design stage to establish the basis for the purpose of evaluation performance. Select the evaluation building about design plan for applying the double-skin using the dynamic heat load analysis program the annual heating and cooling load of before and after the double-skin. Using CFD to analyze wind factor and applied ventilation for realistic results. Effects of double-skin to apply, and control techniques that can be done more realistically proposed through to set and control for shade control mode of ventilator and inside cavity wall of double-skin. Apply for the building the double-skin due to interpretation of the annual heating and cooling loads applied to interpret the quantitative effect confirmed the possibility. According to the form of a double skin was confirmed cavity environmental changes.

  • Changes in precipitation due to climate change is made to induce the local and intensive rainfall, it is increasing damage caused by inland inundation. Therefore, it requires a technique for predicting damage caused by flooding. In this study, in order to determine whether this flood inundated by any route when the levee was destroyed, Which can simulate the path of the flood inundation model was developed for the SIMOD (Simplified Inundation MODel). Multi Direction Method (MDM) for differential distributing the adjacent cells by using the slope and Flat-Water Assumption (FWA)-If more than one level higher in the cell adjacent to the cell level is the lowest altitude that increases the water level is equal to the adjacent cells- were applied For the evaluation of the model by setting the flooding scenarios were estimated hourly range from the target area. SIMOD model can significantly reduce simulation time because they use a simple input data of topography (DEM) and inflow flood. Since it is possible to predict results within minutes, if you can only identify inflow flood through the runoff model or levee collapse model. Therefore, it could be used to establish an evacuation plan due to flooding, such as EAP (Emergency Action Plan).

Shortest Path Problems of Military Vehicles Considering Traffic Flow Characteristics (교통류특성을 고려한 군화물차량군 경로선정)

  • The shortest path problems(SPP) are critical issues in the military logistics such as the simulation of the War-Game. However, the existing SPP has two major drawbacks, one is its accuracy of solution and the other is for only one solution with focused on just link cost in the military transportation planning models. In addition, very few previous studies have been examined for the multi-shortest path problems without considering link capacity reflecting the military characteristics. In order to overcome these drawbacks, it is necessary to apply the multi-shortest paths algorithm reflecting un-expected military incidents. This study examines the multi-shortest paths in the real networks using Shier algorithm. The network contains both military link capacity and time-based cost. Also, the modes are defined as a platoon(group) rather than unit which is used in most of previous studies in the military logistics. To verify the algorithm applied in this study. the comparative analysis was performed with various sizes and routes of network which compares with Dijkstra algorithm. The major findings of this study are as follows ; 1) Regarding the unique characteristics of the military transportation plan, Shier algorithm, which is applied to this study, is more realistic than Dijkstra algorithm. Also, the time based concept is more applicable than the distance based model in the military logistics. 2) Based on the results from the various simulations of this study the capacity-constraint sections appeared in each scenarios. As a consequence, the alternatives are necessary such as measures for vulnerable area, improvement of vehicle(mode), and reflection of separated-marching column in the military manuals. Finally. the limits and future research directions are discussed : 1) It is very hard to compare the results found in this study. which is used in the real network and the previous studies which is used in arbitrary network. 2) In order to reflect the real military situations such as heavy tanks and heavy equipment vehicles. the other constraints such as the safety load of bridges and/or the height of tunnels should be considered for the future studies.
