  • In the upcoming era of transportation, a groundbreaking technology, known as vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, is poised to redefine our driving experience and revolutionize traffic management. Real-time and secure communication plays a pivotal role in V2X networks, with the decision-making process being a key factor in establishing communication and determining malicious nodes. The proposed framework utilizes a directed acyclic graph (DAG) to facilitate real-time processing and expedite decision-making. This innovative approach ensures seamless connectivity among vehicles, the surrounding infrastructure, and various entities. To enhance communication efficiency, the entire roadside unit (RSU) region can be subdivided into various sub-regions, allowing RSUs to monitor and govern each sub-region. This strategic approach significantly reduces transaction approval time, thereby improving real-time communication. The framework incorporates a consensus mechanism to ensure robust security, even in the presence of malicious nodes. Recognizing the dynamic nature of V2X networks, the addition and removal of nodes are aligned. Communication latency is minimized through the deployment of computational resources near the data source and leveraging edge computing. This feature provides invaluable recommendations during critical situations that demand swift decision-making. The proposed architecture is further validated using the "veins" simulation tool. Simulation results demonstrate a remarkable success rate exceeding 95%, coupled with a significantly reduced consensus time compared to prevailing methodologies. This comprehensive approach not only addresses the evolving requirements of secure V2X communication but also substantiates practical success through simulation, laying the foundation for a transformative era in transportation.

  • Because of the burgeoning demand of the energy, the countries are finding sustainable solutions for these emerging challenges. Demand Side Management is playing a significant role in managing the demand with an aim to support the electrical grid during the peak hours. However, advancement in controls and communication technologies, the aggregators are appearing as a third party entity in implementing demand response program. In this paper, a detailed mathematical framework is discussed in which the aggregator acts as an energy service provider between the utility and the consumers, and facilitate the consumers to actively participate in demand side management by introducing the new concept of demand reduction bidding (DRB) under constrained direct load control. Paper also presented an algorithm for the proposed framework and demonstrated the efficacy of the algorithm by considering few case studies and concluded with simulation results and discussions.

  • This paper proposes a novel framework for virtual content delivery networks (CDNs) based on cloud computing. The proposed framework aims to provide multimedia content delivery services customized for content providers by sharing virtual machines (VMs) in the Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud, while fulfilling the service level agreement. Furthermore, it supports elastic virtual CDN services, which enables the capabilities of VMs to be scaled to encompass the dynamically changing resource demand of the aggregated virtual CDN services. For this, we provide the system architecture and relevant operations for the virtual CDNs and evaluate the performance based on a simulation.

  • This paper addresses the problem of joint time of arrival (TOA) and direction of arrival (DOA) estimation in impulse radio ultra-wideband systems with a two-antenna receiver and links the joint estimation of TOA and DOA to the sparse representation framework. Exploiting this link, an orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm is used for TOA estimation in the two antennas, and then the DOA parameters are estimated via the difference in the TOAs between the two antennas. The proposed algorithm can work well with a single measurement vector and can pair TOA and DOA parameters. Furthermore, it has better parameter-estimation performance than traditional propagator methods, such as, estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques algorithms matrix pencil algorithms, and other new joint-estimation schemes, with one single snapshot. The simulation results verify the usefulness of the proposed algorithm.

  • The problem of location awareness in wireless sensor networks where nodes use GPS (Global Positioning System), remains challenging problem, when considering the required large energy consumption during the localization phase. In this paper we designed hardware for GPS based localization and propose a framework, called ELS, to consume low cost energy. In the ELS framework, sensor nodes are equipped with GPS. Because GPS spends large energy for position awareness, conventional localization algorithms cannot use GPS-device. We try to find a solution for efficient energy expenditure of GPS. Finally, we derive optimal transmission power of GPS data and a scheme of localization through experiment and simulation.

  • This paper presents a framework for determining control strategies against unwanted tripping actions of relay operation that plays a very important role in cascading events leading to voltage collapse. The framework includes an algorithm for quick identification of possible zone 3 relay operation during voltage instability. The proposed approach comes up with control strategy of load shedding at the selected location with active power and relay margin criteria. In addition, Quasi Steady-State (QSS) simulation is employed to obtain time-related information which is valuable for both the timing and amount of control. The methodology is demonstrated through the modified New England 39-bus system.

  • Security problem has been a fundamental issue in the operation and planning of power system. Voltage instability is widely recognized as an important issue of power system blackout. As far as real-time operation is concerned, there is a need for appropriate tools to identify dangerous contingencies, assess security margins and suggest corrective actions. In this paper, we propose the framework design of Voltage Security Assessment(VSA) using QSS(Quasi Steady-State) analysis method in order to implement fast time domain simulation engine as a major part of VSA.

  • To enhance the credibility of human reliability analysis, various kinds of data have been recently collected and analyzed. Although it is obvious that the quality of data is critical, the practices or considerations for securing data quality have not been sufficiently discussed. In this work, based on the experience of the recent human reliability data extraction projects, which produced more than fifty thousand data-points, we derive a number of issues to be considered for generating meaningful data. As a result, thirteen considerations are presented here as pertaining to the four different data extraction activities: preparation, collection, analysis, and application. Although the lessons were acquired from a single kind of data collection framework, it is believed that these results will guide researchers to consider important issues in the process of extracting data.

  • Team decision making is a collective behavior that needs to be understood by considering properties belonging to team and individual member domains together. This paper introduces a conceptual model called "Dual-Level(DL)" model that describes a team decision-making process in terms of team level, member level, and the relationship between them. The team-level view explains the decision-making process by considering the team as a wholeand divides the process into three stages: Problem Conceptualization, Alternative Generation, and Selection. The member-level view describes what happens to individual members when they go through the group process and splits it into the five phases: Individual Cognitive Mapping, Problem Decomposition, Subproblem Session, Subproblem Integration, and Team Decision. The DL model works as a theoretical framework to explore team decision making by using a set of computational models of team design and team members. In practice, the conceptual framework is used to build a computational model of decision making team, called "Team-Soar."
