Continual monitoring of abnormal operating conditions i a key issue in maintaining high product quality and safe operation, since the undetected process abnormality may lead to the undesirable operations, finally producing low quality products, or breakdown of equipment. The statistical projection method recently highlighted has the advantage of easily building reference model with the historical measurement data in the statistically in-control state and not requiring any detailed mathematical model or knowledge-base of process. As the complexity of process increases, however, we have more measurement variables and recycle streams. This situation may not only result in the frequent occurrence of process Perturbation, but make it difficult to pinpoint trouble-making causes or at most assignable source unit due to the confusing candidates. Consequently, an ad hoc skill to monitor and diagnose in plat-wide scale is needed. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical plant-wide monitoring methodology based on hierarchical decomposition and principal component analysis for handling the complexity and interactions among process units. This have the effect of preventing special events in a specific sub-block from propagating to other sub-blocks or at least delaying the transfer of undesired state, and so make it possible to quickly detect and diagnose the process malfunctions. To prove the performance of the proposed methodology, we simulate the Tennessee Eastman benchmark process which is operated continuously with 41 measurement variables of five major units. Simulation results have shown that the proposed methodology offers a fast and reliable monitoring and diagnosis for a large scale chemical plant.
In the Hadoop-based Big Data analysis model, the data movement between the legacy system and the analysis system is difficult to avoid. To overcome this problem, a unified Big Data file system is introduced so that a unified platform can support the legacy service as well as the analysis service. However, major challenges in avoiding the performance degradation problem due to the interference of two services remain. In order to solve this problem, we first performed a real-life simulation and observed resource utilization, workload characteristics and I/O balanced level. Based on this analysis, two solutions were proposed both for the system level and for the technical level. In the system level, we divide I/O path into the legacy I/O path and the analysis I/O path. In the technical level, we introduce an aggressive prefetch method for analysis service which requires the sequential read. Also, we introduce experimental results that shows the outstanding performance gain comparing the previous system.
To evaluate influence of the future climate change on water environment, it is necessary to use a rainfall-runoff model, or a basin model allowing us to simultaneously simulate water quality factors such as sediment and nutrient material. Thus, SWAT is selected as a watershed-based model and Nakdong river basin is chosen as a target basin for this study. To apply climate change scenarios as input data to SWAT, Australian model (CSIRO: Mk3.0, CSMK) and Canadian models (CCCma: CGCM3-T47, CT47) of GCMs are used. Each GCMs which have A2, B1, and A1B scenarios effectively represent the climate characteristics of the Korean peninsula. For detecting climate change in Nakdong river basin, precipitation and temperature, increasing rate of these were analyzed in each scenarios. By simulation results, flow and increasing rate of these were analyzed at particular points which are important in the object basin. Flow and variation of flow in the scenarios for present and future climate changes were compared and analyzed by years, seasons, divided into mid terms. In most of the points temperature and flow rate are increased, because climate change is expected to have a significant effect on rising water temperature and flow rate of river and lake, further on the basis of this study result should set enhancing up water control project of hydraulic structures caused by increasing outer discharge of the Nakdong River Basin due to climate change.

In this paper, a novel power factor compensation system based on voltage-controlled method is proposed for 3-phase 4-wire power system. The proposed voltage-controlled power factor compensation system generates a reactive power required for compensation by applying a variable output voltage by a slidac to a capacitor. In conventional power factor compensation system using the capacitor bank method, the power factor compensation error occurs depending on the load condition due to the limited capacity of the capacitors. However, the proposed system compensates the power factor up to 100% without error. In this paper, we have developed a voltage-controlled power factor compensation system and a control algorithm for 3-phase 4-wire power system, and verify its performance through simulation and experiments. If the proposed power factor compensation system is applied to an industrial field, a power factor compensation performance can be maximized. As a result, it is possible to reduce of electricity prices, reduce of line loss, increase of load capacity, ensure the transmission margin capacity, and reduce the amount of power generation.

There has been so many research activities about robot soccer system in the many research fields, for example, intelligent control, communication, computer technology, sensor technology, image processing, mechatronics. Especially researchers research strategy for attacking in the field of strategy, and develop intelligent strategy. Then, soccer robots cannot defense completely and efficiently by using simple defense strategy. Therefore, intention extraction of attacker is needed for efficient defense. In this thesis, intention extractor of soccer robots is designed and developed based on FMMNN(Fuzzy Min-Max Neural networks ). First, intention for soccer robot system is defined, and intention extraction for soccer robot system is explained.. Next, FMMNN based intention extractor for soccer robot system is determined. FMMNN is one of the pattern classification method and have several advantages: on-line adaptation, short training time, soft decision. Therefore, FMMNN is suitable for soccer robot system having dynamic environment. Observer extracts attack intention of opponents by using this intention exactor, and this intention extractor is also used for analyzing strategy of opponent team. The capability of developed intention extractor is verified by simulation of 3 vs. 3 robot succor simulator. It was confirmed that the rates of intention extraction each experiment increase.

In this paper, we suggest the dynamic-response-free SMPS using a new high-resolution DPWM generator based on switched-capacitor delay technique. In the proposed system, duty ratio of DPWM is controlled by voltage slope of an internal capacitor using switched-capacitor delay technique. In the proposed circuit, it is possible to track output voltage by controlling current of the internal capacitor of the DPWM generator through comparison between the feedback voltage and the reference voltage. Therefore the proposed circuit is not restricted by the dynamic-response characteristic which is a problem in the existing SMPS using the closed-loop control method. In addition, it has great advantage that ringing phenomenon due to overshoot/undershoot does not appear on output voltage. The proposed circuit can operate at switching frequencies of 1MHz~10MHz using internal operating frequency of 100 MHz. The maximum current of the core circuit is 2.7 mA and the total current of the entire circuit including output buffer is 15 mA at the switching frequency of 10 MHz. The proposed circuit has DPWM duty ratio resolution of 0.125 %. It can accommodate load current up to 1 A. The maximum ripple of output voltage is 8 mV. To verify operation of the proposed circuit, we carried out simulation with Dongbu Hitek BCD $0.35{\mu}m$ technology parameter.
In almost industries, such as the logistics industry, marine fisheries, agriculture, industry, and services, small unmanned aerial vehicles are used for aerial photographing or closing flight in areas where human access is difficult or CCTV is not installed. Also, based on the information of small unmanned aerial photographing, application research is actively carried out to efficiently perform surveillance, control, or management. In order to carry out tasks in a mission-based manner in which the set tasks are assigned and the tasks are automatically performed, the small unmanned aerial vehicles must not only fly steadily but also be able to charge the energy periodically, In addition, the unmanned aircraft need to land automatically and precisely at certain points after the end of the mission. In order to accomplish this, an automatic precision landing method that leads landing by continuously detecting and recognizing a marker located at a landing point from a video shot of a small UAV is required. In this paper, it is shown that accurate and stable automatic landing is possible even if simple template matching technique is applied without using various recognition methods that require high specification in using low cost general purpose small unmanned aerial vehicle. Through simulation and actual experiments, the results show that the proposed method will be made good use of industrial fields.
A group sequential design can end a clinical trial early if a confirmed efficacy or a futility of study medication is found during clinical trials. Adaptation can adjust the design of clinical trials based on accumulated data. The key to this methodology is considered to control the overall type 1 error rate while maintaining the integrity of clinical trials. The estimation would be more complex and the sample size calculation will be more difficult if the clinical trials have repeated measurement data. Lee et al. (2002) suggested a repeated observation case by using the independent increments properties of the interim test statistics and investigated the properties of the proposed confidence interval based on the stage-wise ordering. This study extend Lee et al. (2002) to adaptive group sequential design. We suggest test statistics for the adaptation as redesigning the second stage of clinical trials and induce the stage-wise confidence interval of parameter of interests. The simulation will help to confirm the suggested method.
The general aspects for the future warfare shows that the concept of firepower and maneuver centric warfare has been replacing with that of information and knowledge centric warfare. Thus, some developed countries are now trying to establish the information systems to perform intelligent warfare and innovate defense operations. The C4I(Command, Control, Communication, Computers and Intelligence for the Warrior) systems make it possible to do modern and systematic war operations. The basic idea of this study is to investigate how TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) can explain the acceptance behavior in military organizations. Because TAM is inadequate in explaining the acceptance processes forcomplex technologies and strict organizations, a revised research model based upon TAM was developed in order to assess the usage of the C4I system. The purpose of this study is to investigate factors affecting the usage of C4I in the Korean Army. The research model, based upon TAM, was extended through a belief construct such as self-efficacy as one of mediating variables. The self-efficacy has been used as a mediating variable for technology acceptance, and the variable was included in the research model. The external variables were selected on the basis of previous research. The external variables can be classified into following: 1) technological, 2) organizational, and 3) environmental factors on the basis of TOE(Technology-Organization-Environment) framework. The technological factor includes the information quality and the task-technology fitness. The organizational factor includes the influence of senior colleagues. The environmental factor includes the education/train data. The external variables are considered very important for explaining the behavior patterns of information technology or systems. A structured questionnaire was developed and administrated to those who were using the C4I system. Total 329 data were used for statistical data analyses. A confirmatory factor analysis and structured equation model were used as main statistical methods. Model fitness Indexes for measurement and structured models were verified before all 18 hypotheses were tested. This study shows that the perceived usefulness and the self-efficacy played their roles more than the perceived ease of use did in TAM. In military organizations, the perceived usefulness showed its mediating effects between external variables and dependent variable, but the perceived ease of use did not. These results imply that the perceived usefulness can explain the acceptance processes better than the perceived ease of use in the army. The self-efficacy was also used as one of the three mediating variables, and showed its mediating effects in explaining the acceptance processes. Such results also show that the self-efficacy can be selected as one possible belief construct in TAM. The perceived usefulness was influenced by such factors as senior colleagues, the information quality, and the task-technology fitness. The self-efficacy was affected by education/train and task-technology fitness. The actual usage of C4I was influenced not by the perceived ease of use but by the perceived usefulness and selfefficacy. This study suggests the followings: (1) An extended TAM can be applied to such strict organizations as the army; (2) Three mediation variables are included in the research model and tested at real situations; and (3) Several other implications are discussed.

One of most shocking headlines is a serious chain collision accident (CCA). The development of CCA has a temporal and spatial locality, and the information of the CCA is time-critical. Due to these characteristics of CCA, traffic accident information should be rapidly propagated to drivers in order to reduce chain collisions, right after the first accident occurs. Inter-vehicle communication (IVC) based on ad-hoc communication is one of promising alternatives for locally urgent information propagation. Despite this potential of IVC, research for the effects of IVC on the reduction of CCA has not been reported so far. Therefore, this study develops the parallel platform of microscopic vehicle and IVC communication simulators and then analyses the effects of IVC on the reduction of the second collision related to a series of vehicles. To demonstrate the potential of the IVC-based propagation of urgent traffic accident information for the reduction of CCA, the reduction of approaching-vehicle speed, the propagation speed of accident information, and then the reduction of CCA were analysed, respectively, according to scenarios of combination of market rates and traffic volumes. The analysis results showed that CCA can be effectively reduced to 40~60% and 80~82% at the penetration rates of 10% and 50%, respectively.
