The variable fatigue load is simulated in this study, The stability and the life of the material are analyzed theoretically by the program of Ansys workbench. These results are successfully applied to the practical structures to predict the prevention of fracture and the endurance, The life and the damage on the every part of the fatigue specimen can be predicted. As the available lives are compared for every loading variation, the rainflow and damage matrix results can be helpful in determining the effects of small stress cycles in any loading history. The rainflow and damage matrices illustrate the possible effects of infinite life. The safety and stability of fatigue specimen according to the variable load can be estimated by using the results of this study.
The new FLD of the laser welded blank, which includes FLCs of welded zone and base metals, is introduced. For the forming limits of welded zone, the hemispherical dome punch tests were performed with various widths of asymmetric specimen. The FLC0 as well as the dome height at fracture associated with various specimen widths in the same and different thickness combinations were found to see the formability depending on thickness combinations. In order to show the application of the new FLD, the measured strains of squared cup drawing and simulated strains of door inner panel stamping were compared with those of FLCs. The successful prediction of fracture in the applications reveals that the forming limits of welded zone and base metals should be separately found for more accurate evaluation of the formability and workability of the laser welded blank.
In this study, it was performed damage assesment of small scale composite aircraft developing. This aircraft adopted the sandwich structure to skin of wing. This study aims to investigate the residual strength of sandwich composites with Nomex honeycomb core and carbon fiber face sheets after the open hole damage by the experimental investigation. The 4-point bending tests were used to find the bending strength, and the open hole was applied to introduce the simulated damage on the specimen. The bending strength test results after open hole was compared with the results of no damaged specimen test. The FEM analysis is assessed via an experimental 4-point bending test.

The direct design modification of problematic component is disallowed in order to sacrifice other major factors such as a stability or a major performance. So, the best design policy is to risvise the immature structural medchanism under the minimal design change as soon as possible. For this paper presents a new design sensitivity analysis based on transmissibility rtio (TR) of response acceleration to find a proper candidate for the minimal design modification. The new sensitivity analysis is based on the fact that the sensitivity of TR over a small design change is inversly proportinal to the magnitude of TR. The theory of proposed design sensitivity analysis is simulated with the variance of TR over a dynamic change. Then, new methodology is appplied for a linear elastic specimen to detect the most sensitive node over a design change using measured accleration data during uni-axial vibration test, The physical verification of the sensitivity method is conducted on the CAE model of a linear elastic specimen by adding concentration mass and the vibration fatigue of the simple specimen is analyzed to estimate the relationship between fatigue behaviors and sensitivity consequences.

Several workers reported the relationship between osteoporosis and age-related reductions in the BV/TV (bone volume fraction) of vertebral trabecular bones. However, there were few micro finite element (micro-FE) models to account for the treatments of the osteoporotic trabecular bone. In the present study, micro-FE models of osteoporotic and hormone-treated bone models were constructed to analyze the effect of specimen location and boundary condition on mechanical characteristics of hormone treatment model for osteoporotic trabecular bone. Top and bottom sections of specimens were also investigated individually to study the effect of specimen location. Hormone-treated models were allowed to have the same relative BV/TV (13.4%) as that used in models of previous researchers. The present study reported the elastic and plastic characteristics of the osteoporosis and hormone-treated bone models. In the present study, in-situ boundary condition was applied to the simulated compression tests for in-vivo condition of vertebral trabecular bone. The present study indicated that the hormone therapy was likely to improve the mechanical characteristics of osteoporotic bones and the mechanical characteristics of vertebral trabecular bone specimen were dependent on the captured location and boundary condition.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the changes in hardness and microstructure of a dental multipurpose alloy after simulated complete firing with controlled cooling rate and holding time by characterizing the changes in hardness and microstructure after simulated firing with various cooling rates and holding times. Methods: Before hardness testing, the specimens were solution treated and then were rapidly quenched into ice brine. The specimens were completely fired in furnace. Hardness measurements were made using a Vickers microhardness tester. The specimens were examined at 15 kV using a field emission scanning electron microscope. Results: The maximum hardness value was obtained at stage 0 after simulated firing with various cooling rates (quick cooling, stage 0, stage 1, stage 2, stage 3). By the repetitive firing, the hardness of the tested alloy decreased gradually. By holding the specimen at $500^{\circ}C$ for 10-20min after simulated firing, the hardness increased apparently. However, to hold the alloy for long periods of time in the relatively high temperature after simulated firing resulted in the formation of thick oxidation layer. The oxide film formed on the surface of the alloy after simulated complete firing with controlled cooling rate, which was mainly composed of O and Zn. Conclusion: It is reasonable to hold the alloy at $500^{\circ}C$ for 10-20min after complete firing in other to improve the final hardness of the alloy.
In this study, it was performed damage assessment and repair of small scale aircraft adopted on composite. The bending strength test results after open hole were compared with the results of no damaged specimen test. In addition, The damaged composite structure was repaired using external patch repair method after removing damaged area. After that, this study presents comparison results of the experimental investigation between the damaged and the repaired specimen. It was found that the bending strength of repaired specimen was recovered up to 95% of undamaged specimen.

To prevent the occurrence of fractures in metal structures, it is very important to evaluate the 3D crack growth process in those structures and any related parts. In this study, tension tests and two simulations, namely, Simulation-I and Simulation-II, were performed using XFEM to evaluate crack growth in three dimensions. In the tension test, Mode I crack growth was observed for a notched metal specimen. In Simulation-I, a 3D reconstructed model of the specimen was created using CT images of the specimen. Using this model, an FE model was constructed, and crack growth was simulated using XFEM. In Simulation-II, an ideal notch FE model of the same geometric size as the actual specimen was created and then used for simulation. Obtained crack growth simulation results were then compared. Crack growth in the metal specimen was evaluated in three dimensions. It was shown that modeling the real shape of a structure with a crack may be essential for accurately evaluating 3D crack growth.
The phase separation in ferrite phase of duplex stainless steel is the primary cause of thermal aging embrittlement of the LWR primary pressure boundary components. In this study the phase separation of simulated duplex stainless steel was detected by Mossbauer spectroscopy and magnetic property analysis by VSM(Vibrating Specimen Magnetometer). The simulated duplex stainless steels, Fe-Cr binary, Fe-Cr-Ni ternary, and Fe-Cr-Ni-Si quarternary allots, were aged at 370 and 40$0^{\circ}C$ up to 5,340 hours. It was observed from Mossbauer spectra analysis that internal magnetic field increases with aging time and from VSM that the specific saturation magnetization and Curie temperature increase with aging time. These result are indicative that phase separation into Fe-rich region and Cr-rich region is caused by thermal aging in the temperature range of 370~40$0^{\circ}C$ In cases of specimens containing Ni, the increase of specific saturation magnetization is much higher. This implies that Ni seems to promote Fe-Cr interdiffusion, which accelerates the phase separation into Fe-rich $\alpha$ phase and Cr-rich $\alpha$' phase.
The objective of this study is to estimate the feasibility of X-ray diffraction method application for fatigue life assessment of the high-temperature pipeline steel such as main steam pipe, reheater pipe and header etc. in power plant. In this study, X-ray diffraction tests using various types of specimen simulated low cycle fatigue damage were performed in order to analyze fatigue properties when fatigue damage conditions become various stages such as 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 of fatigue life, respectively. As a result of X-ray diffraction tests for specimens simulated fatigue damages, we conformed that the variation of the full width at half maximum intensity decreased in proportion to the increase of fatigue life ratio.
