The TIDE, finite element model for the simulation of tidal flow in shallow sea was tested for its applicability at the Saemangeum area. Several pre and post processors were developed to facilitate handling of the complicated and large amount of input and output data for the model developed. Also an operation scheme to run the model and the processors were established. As a result of calibration test using the observed data collected at 9 points within the region, linearlized friction coefficients were adjusted to be ranged 0.0027~0.0072, and water depths below the mean sea level at every nodes were changed to be increased generally by 1 meter. Comparisons of tidal velocities between the observed and the simulated for the 5 stations were made and obtained the result that the average relative error between simulated and observed tidal velocities was 11% for the maximum velocities and 22% for the minimum, and the absolute errors were less than 0.2m/sec. Also it was found that the average R.M.S. error between the velocities of observed and simulated was 0.119 m/sec and the average correlation coefficient was 0.70 showing close agreement. Another comparison test was done to show the result that R.M.S. error between the simulated and the observed tidal elevations at the 4 stations was 0.476m in average and the correlation coefficients were ranged 0.96~0.99. Though the simulated tidal circulation pattern in the region was well agreed with the observed, the simulated tidal velocities and elevations for specific points showed some errors with the observed. It was thought that the errors mainly due to the characteristics of TIDE Model which was developed to solve only with the linearized scheme. Finally it was concluded that, to improve the simulation results by the model, a new attempt to develop a fully nonlinear model as well as further calibration and the more reasonable generation of finite element grid would be needed.

This study refers to the development of a hydrologic model simulating daily inflow and release rates for irrigation reservoirs. A daily - based model is needed for adequate operation of an irrigation reservoir sufficing the water demand for paddy fields which is closely related to meteorological conditions. And the objective or this study is to develop a Daily Irrigation Reservoir Operation Model(DIROM) combining the inflow and the release models which depicts the daily water level fluctuations of an irrigation reservoir, and to evaluate the applicability of the model. DIROM was applied to four reservoirs and daily water levels were simulated and compared to the observed data. The model behaviour was also compared with that of a ten - day based model, Reservoir Operation Study(ROS) which has been applied for determining the design capacity of reservoirs. Various combinations of measured and simulated inflow and release rates for tested reservoirs were used to define the daily water level fluctuations. Simulated release rates and measured inflow data resulted in larger errors, and simulated inflow and release rates produced the smallest errors in water level comparison. Two resevoir operation models, DIROM and ROS were applied to the same reservoir and the simulation results compared. The computational errors of DIROM ware smaller than those of ROS, and DIROM was more sensitive to meteorological conditions. DIROM demonstrated its potenial applicability in water management and operation.

This study was conducted to get reasonable and abundant hydrological time series of monthly flows simulated by a best fitting stochastic simulation model for the establishment of rational design and the rationalization of management for agricultural hydraulic structures including reservoirs. Comparative analysis carried out for both statistical characteristics and synthetic monthly flows simulated by the multi-season first order Markov model based on Gamma distribution which is confirmed as good one in the first report of this study and by Harmonic synthetic model analyzed in this report for the six watersheds of Yeong San and Seom Jin river systems. 1.Arithmetic mean values of synthetic monthly flows simulated by Gamma distribution are much closer to the results of the observed data than those of Harmonic synthetic model in the applied watersheds. 2.In comparison with the coefficients of variation, index of fluctuation for monthly flows simulated by two kinds of synthetic models, those based on Gamma distribution are appeared closer to the observed data than those of Harmonic synthetic model both in Yeong San and Seom Jin river systems. 3.It was found that synthetic monthly flows based on Gamma distribution are considered to give better results than those of Harmonic synthetic model in the applied watersheds. 4.Continuation studies by comparison with other simulation techniques are to be desired for getting reasonable generation technique of synthetic monthly flows for the various river systems in Korea.
Using strong cation exchange simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatography, a nitrogen-phosphate-potassium (NPK) fertilizer is produced in a cost-effective manner. The SMB process operated in a non-traditional way is divided into production and regeneration sections for exclusion of undesirable ions, and composed of six zones including two wash-water zones. This paper addresses modeling and simulation studies on the ion-exchange SMB process, comparing simulation results with experimental data obtained both from a pilot plant and an industrial plant. The simulation results show a good agreement with in situ experimental data obtained in the two plants. The model equation validated by the experiments will be applicable for optimization problems to obtain optimum operating conditions of the process.

The stochastic method is applied to simulate strong ground motions at seismic stations of seven metropolises in South Korea, creating an earthquake scenario based on the causative fault of the 2016 Gyeongju earthquake. Input parameters are established according to what has been revealed so far for the causative fault of the Gyeongju earthquake, while the ratio of differences in response spectra between observed and simulated strong ground motions is assumed to be an adjustment factor. The calculations confirm the applicability and reproducibility of strong ground motion simulations based on the relatively small bias in response spectra between observed and simulated strong ground motions. Based on this result, strong ground motions by a scenario earthquake on the causative fault of the Gyeongju earthquake with moment magnitude 6.5 are simulated, assuming that the ratios of its fault length to width are 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1. The results are similar to those of the empirical Green's function method. Although actual site response factors of seismic stations should be supplemented later, the simulated strong ground motions can be used as input data for developing ground motion prediction equations and input data for calculating the design response spectra of major facilities in South Korea.

In this paper we discuss Bayesian computation and model selection for Littlewood-Verrall model using Gibbs sampling. A numerical example with a simulated data is given.
For the assesment of pollutant loads, a monitoring has been conducted to identify hydrologic conditions and water quality of the Oenam watershed in Juam Lake, and the SWAT model integrated with GIS was applied to the watershed and evaluated for its applicability through calibration and verification using observed data. For the model application, digital maps were constructed for watershed boundary, land-use, soil series, digital elevation, and topographic input data of the Oenam watershed using Arcview. The observed runoff was 832.8 mm while the simulated runoff was 842.8 mm in 2003. The model results showed that the simulated runoff was in a good agreement with the observed data and indicated reasonable applicability of the model. In terms of nutrient load, the simulation results of T-N, T-P showed a similar trend to observed values. The observed T-N load was 10.8 kg/ha and the simulated T-N load was 7.6 kg/ha while the observed T-P load was 0.21 kg/ha and the simulated T-P load was 0.18 kg/ha. In general, SWAT model predicted observed runoff and loads of T-N and T-P after calibration with observed data in acceptable range. Overall, SWAT model was satisfactory in estimation of nutrient pollutant loads of the rural watershed.
Search-Based Software Testing (SBST) is an effective technique for test data generation on large domain size. Although the performance of SBST seems to be affected by the structural characteristics of Software Under Test (SUT), studies for the comparison of SBST techniques considering structural characteristics are rare. In addition to the comparison study for SBST, we analyzed the best algorithm with different structural characteristics of SUT. For the generalization of experimental results, we automatically generated 19,800 SUTs by combining four metrics, which are expected to affect the performance of SBST. According to the experiment results, Genetic algorithm showed the best performance for SUTs with high complexity and test data evaluation with count ${\leq}20,000$. On the other hand, the genetic simulated annealing and the simulated annealing showed relatively better performance for SUTs with high complexity and test data evaluation with count ${\geq}50,000$. Genetic simulated annealing, simulated annealing and hill climbing showed better performance for SUTs with low complexity.
In this study investigated that topographical parametersestimate and calculated travel time, storage coefficient and lag time by watershed dividing 11, 8, 6 and 2. The results showed the more divide watershed, the more increase peak discharges. The results showed that Kraven-Clark-Kraven case is good simulated by compared observed data with calculated data. The sub-basin number are adequate $6{\sim}11$ for wichun and travel times compare observed data with calculated data at the younggok, to take about $18{\sim}20hr$ by simulated results but observed data shorter $8{\sim}10hr$. From this study results showed that it could be make narrow parameter estimate for observed hydrograph simulation, if more observed velocity and hydrograph. Also, as results of this study that is help to estimate parameters (arrival time, storage coefficient and lag time for Clark model.
In PV power generation system study, huge system apparatuses are needed in order to verify the effect of system efficiency and stability considering the size of solar panels, the sort of converter types, and the load conditions and so on. And also, under the same weather and load conditions it is impossible to compare a certain MPPT control scheme to others. In this paper, in order to obtain effective solutions for the above mentioned topics, the solar cell array is simulated with it's VI characteristic equations, and the real field data of weather conditions is interfaced to EMTDC using Fortran program interface method. Consequently the simulation of PV power generation system using field data is realized in this paper, and acceptable results, which show close match between the real data of PV panel and the simulated data, were obtained.
