  • The Lagrangian dispersion of fluid particles in inhomogeneous turbulence is investigated by a direct numerical simulation of turbulent channel flow. Four points Hermite interpolation in the homogeneous direction and Chebyshev polynomials in the inhomogeneous direction is adopted to simulate the fluid particle dispersion. An inhomogeneity of Lagrangian statistics in turbulent boundary layer is investigated by releasing many particles at several different wall-normal locations and tracking those particles. The fluid particle dispersions and Lagrangian structure functions of velocity are scaled by the Kolmogorov similarity. The auto-correlations of velocity and acceleration are shown at the different releasing locations. Effect of initial particle location on the dispersion is analyzed by the probability density function at the several downstreams and time instants.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the effect of wind load on the structural stability of a container crane according to the increase of the lifting capacity using wind tunnel test and provided a container crane designer with data which can be used in a wind resistance design of a container crane assuming that a wind load at 75m/s wind velocity is applied on a container crane. Data acquisition conditions for this experiment were established in accordance with the similarity. The scale of a container crane dimension, wind velocity and time were chosen as 1/200, 1/13.3 and 1/15. And this experiment was implemented in an Eiffel type atmospheric boundary-layer wind tunnel with $11.52m^{2}$ cross-section area. Each directional drag and overturning moment coefficients were investigated.

2차원 분류특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Characteristics of the 2-Dimensional Jet)

  • Free jet was investigated experimentally and numerically in range of Reynolds number from 9900 to 21000. The working fluid was air; the mean velocity components and turbulent quantities were measured by a hot-wire anemometer. In numerical computations, the governing partial differential equations of elliptic type were solved with conventional k- ${\epsilon}$ turbulence model. The measurements show that the jet increased linearly in flow direction, and that similarity for each turbulent quantity such as Reynolds shear stress, or turbulent kinetic energy was revealed in the fully developed region. The computational results show good agreements with experiments.

가스 제트 누출의 농도 및 속도에 대한 실험, 이론 및 수치해석 연구 (Experimental, Theoretical and Numerical Studies for Concentrations and Velocities of Gas Jets)

  • 대기 중으로 가스가 누출될 때, 누출구에서 비교적 가까운 위치에 누출 축을 따라 형성되는 인화성 증기운의 농도 및 속도에 관해 실험, 이론 및 수치해석을 이용한 결과를 비교하였다. 제트기류 확산(Jet dispersion) 과정에 대해 실험을 통해 농도를 측정하였고, 이론적 접근법으로써 자기유사성(Self-similarity) 이론을 적용하여 속도를 계산하였다. 그리고 두 가지 CFD 도구 - 서브그리드모델을 사용하는 FLACS와 범용 CFD 도구인 CFX-를 이용해 속도와 농도를 계산하여 각 결과와 비교하였다. 자기유사성 이론과 CFD의 가장 큰 차이점은 부력항에 의한 차이이며, 이는 누출원으로부터 거리가 멀어져 누출 모멘텀이 감소할 수록 영향력이 증가한다. 결과는 누출원 반경에 대한 무차원 거리와 최대 속도에 대한 무차원 속도를 이용하여 비교한다.

댐 붕괴흐름의 해석해(Ritter의 해)를 이용한 월파유속 분석 (Analyses of Overtopping Velocity using Analytical Solution(Ritter's Solution) of Dam-Break Flow)

  • 본 연구는 수리실험으로 얻어진 권파에 의한 월파수괴의 유속을 댐붕괴흐름과 비교하여 거동의 유사성을 검토하였다. 댐붕괴흐름은 해석해가 간략하고 월파 거동과 유사함으로 인해 월파의 유속산정에 이용되어왔다. 월파는 일반적으로 많은 연행기포로 인해 기존의 유속측정기법을 적용하는데 제한을 받게 되므로, 본 실험에서는 기포나 기포조직모양을 이용한 기포영상유속계를 이용하여 월파 유속을 측정하였다. 실험결과로부터 월파의 유속단면을 검토하였고, 단면의 최대유속과 수심평균유속을 댐붕괴흐름의 1차원 해석해인 Ritter의 해와 비교하였다. 해석해와의 비교를 위해 댐붕괴 전 초기수심을 파랑조건과 월파의 측정값으로부터 유도하였다. 파랑조건으로부터 추정된 붕괴 전 초기 수심을 이용한 해석해는 측정된 유속의 분포형태에 있어서는 차이를 보였으나, 월파수괴의 전면속도로부터 산정된 초기수심을 이용한 해석해는 유속크기의 비교에서 좋은 일치를 보였다.

쇄파에 의한 처오름과 월파유속 (Runup and Overtopping Velocity due to Wave Breaking)

  • 본 연구에서는 2차원 수리모형실험을 통해 직립 구조물에 의한 권파와 이로 인해 발생하는 처오름과 월파 유속장을 측정하고, 그 결과를 이용하여 월파의 속도분포를 위한 경험식을 구하였다. 구조물 주위에서의 쇄파에 의한 월파는 넓은 기포화된 지역을 형성하며 다위상 상태가 된다. 이와 같은 구조물 주위에서의 처오름과 월파흐름의 유속을 측정하기 위하여 PIV(particle image velocimetry)기법을 사용하였으며, 기포화된 흐름영역은 PIV기법의 변형된 기법을 고안하여 측정하였다. 두 기법을 이용하여 측정된 유속장으로부터 구조물 주위에서의 3가지의 주된 위상인 쇄파, 처오름 그리고 월파의 최고유속을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 구조물의 상부로 월파된 유체흐름의 최대유속분포는 비선형적인 단면을 보여주고 시간별 최대유속은 주로 유체의 전면부에서 일어남이 관측되었다. 차원해석을 통해 무차원화된 유속분포로 부터 구조물 상단에서의 월파유속 분포가 유사단면을 갖는다는 것을 확인하였으며, 이를 이용하여 월파의 유속분포를 위한 실험적 경험식을 제시하였다.

Effect of suction on flow of dusty fluid along exponentially stretching cylinder

  • The present manuscript focuses the effects of suction on the flow of the dusty fluid along permeable exponentially stretching cylinder. Derived PDEs for this work are changed into ODEs by adopting right transformations. Numerical procedure is carried out for the obtained resultant equations by Shooting Technique in accordance with Runge-Kutta (RK-6) technique. Obtained results for the parameters namely, particle interaction parameter, suction parameter and Reynold number parameters are probed thoroughly. Some salient points are: (a) Fluid velocity decreases and the dust phase velocity rises for the higher values of particle interaction parameter; (b) more suction produces retarding velocities for both the phases; (c) high Reynold number slows down the fluid velocity while the speed of dust phase and (d) skin friction coefficient goes high for all these parameters.

자동변속기용 드럼클러치의 유동제어 성형공정 및 실험장치 개발 연구 (A Study on the Flow Control Forming Process and Experiment Device of Drum Clutch for Automatic Transmission)

  • This paper presents the development of the FCF method for the manufacturing of final products using numbers related to the minimum amount of work. The utilized product is a drum clutch, which is part of the transmission of an automobile. A double acting press is secured first and a prediction of the forming load on the practical material is made through an experiment with a plasticine model. Also, a finite element simulation using product shape and properties is performed, as well as a press experiment. A double acting press is manufactured that is suitable for a double acting experiment with a conventional hydraulic press(200 tons). A peripheral device for the press is additionally designed for experimental purposes. And, the press has as its essential points the drive speed, stroke control, etc., all of which influence the forming and is modified. Especially, a laser system is used for velocity measurement of two punches. The forming load of a practical material is predicted in order to derive a forming load formula for cold conditions on the basis of approximate similarity theory. Finite element analysis of the relative velocity ratio(RVR), etc., for most suitable flow defect(unfilling, etc.) prevention is achieved as well. The results are verified through a press experiment.

표면조도가 있는 난류경계층에서의 직접수치모사 (Direct numerical simulation of the turbulent boundary layer with rod-roughened wall)

  • The effects of surface roughness on a spatially-developing turbulent boundary layer (TBL) were investigated by performing direct numerical simulations of TBLs over rough and smooth walls. The Reynolds number based on the momentum thickness was varied in the range $Re_{\theta}=300{\sim}1400$. The roughness elements used were periodically arranged two-dimensional spanwise rods, and the roughness height was $k=1.5{\theta}_{in}$, which corresponds to $k/{\delta}=0.045{\sim}0.125$. To avoid generating a rough wall inflow, which is prohibitively difficult, a step change from smooth to rough was placed $80{\theta}_{in}$ downstream from the inlet. The spatially-developing characteristics of the rough-wall TBL were examined. Along the streamwise direction, the friction velocity approached a constant value and a self-preserving form of the turbulent stress was obtained. Introduction of the roughness elements affected the turbulent stress not only in the roughness sublayer but also in the outer layer. Despite the roughness-induced increase of the turbulent stress in the outer layer, the roughness had only a relatively small effect on the anisotropic Reynolds stress tensor in the outer layer. Inspection of the triple products of the velocity fluctuations revealed that introducing the roughness elements onto the smooth wall had a marked effect on vertical turbulent transport across the whole TBL. By contrast, good surface similarity in the outer layer was obtained for the third-order moments of the velocity fluctuations.

2열 휜 튜브 열교환기의 공기측 압력강하 및 열전달 특성을 고찰하기 위한 확대 모형실험 (A large scale model test to investigate the pressure drop and heat transer characteristics in the air side of two-row heat exchanger)

  • This work is performed to investigate the pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics in the air side of finned-tube heat exchanger for air conditioner. Experimental apparatus and method are described to simulate the heat exchanger performance by using the three times enlarged model. The pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient were measured and compared for the heat exchangers with a plane fin and a commercial strip fin. The measured data for the strip fin agree well with those of prototype within a few percentages. For the plane fin, the measured data had similar trend to Gray & Webb's correlation at high air velocity, however a new correlation is needed to give more accurate prediction at low air velocity. It is found that most heat was transferred around the front row of the two-row heat exchanger, and the ratio of thermal load at the front tube row was increased for decreasing air velocity.
