  • In this paper, a new approach for solid texture synthesis from input volume data is presented. In the pre-process, feature vectors and a similarity set were constructed for input volume data. The feature vectors were used to construct neighboring vectors for more accurate neighborhood matching. The similarity set which recorded 3 candidates for each voxel helped more effective neighborhood matching. In the synthesis process, the pyramid synthesis method was used to synthesize solid textures from coarse to fine level. The results of the proposed approach were satisfactory.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to determine whether there is a defect by using the similarity between ROIs (Region of Interest) of the standard image and ROIs of the image which is corrected in position and rotation after capturing the vehicle headlight. The degree of similarity is determined by the template matching based on the histogram of image, which is a some modification of the method provided by OpenCV where template matching is performed on the raw image not the histogram. The proposed method is compared with the basic method of OpenCV for performance analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the proposed method showed better performance than the OpenCV method, showing the accuracy close to 100%.

  • This research suggests that valuate similarities by using the matches of patterns which is appeared on different two documents. Statistical ways such as fingerprint method are mainly used for evaluate similarities of existing documents. However, this method has a problem of accuracy for the high similarity which is occurred when many similar words are appeared from two irrelevant documents. These issues are caused by simple comparing of statistical parameters of two documents. But the method using patterns suggested on this research solved those problems because it judges similarity by searching same patterns. This method has a defect, however, that takes long time to search patterns, but this research introduce the algorithms complement this defect.

  • The sub-mage matching problem in which one image contains some part of the other image, has been mostly investigated on natural images. In this paper, we propose two sub-image matching techniques: mesh-based method and correlation-based method, that are efficiently used to match text images. Mesh-based method consists of two stages, box alignment and similarity measurement by extracting the mesh feature from the two images. Correlation-based method determines the similarity using the correlation of the two images based on FFT function. We have applied the two methods to the text verification in a postal automation system and observed that the accuracy of correlation-based method is $92.7\%$ while that of mesh-based method is $90.1\%$.

  • In this paper, we proposed the color matching application based on smart phone which can help color blind people. For color blind people, the existing methods and applications supported color matching application which based on mobile. However, because the most research only showed the color value and color name through capture image of mobile camera, those cannot compare with capture image color of mobile camera and color of real object in real-time. To solve those problem, we proposed the color matching algorithm and developed the color matching application that can compare with color of mobile camera's capture image and color of real object in real-time, because the proposed application divides screen of smart phone into two parts and it show one part as capture image of smart phone camera and the other part as real-time camera image of smart phone. Color matching algorithm calculate cosine similarity using Red, Green, Blue, and Hue value of each image for real-time comparing and show matching result according to similarity value in real-time. To evaluate the performance of the proposed application, we tested a color matching experiment using the proposed application and the matching result was 98% success rate. Therefore, the proposed application will be a useful application which can help color blind people.

  • Various satellite sensors having ranges of the visible, infrared, and thermal wavelengths have been launched due to the improvement of hardware technologies of satellite sensors development. According to the development of satellite sensors with various wavelength ranges, the fusion and integration of multisensor images are proceeded. Image matching process is an essential step for the application of multisensor images. Some algorithms, such as SIFT and SURF, have been proposed to co-register satellite images. However, when the existing algorithms are applied to extract matching points between optical and thermal images, high accuracy of co-registration might not be guaranteed because these images have difference spectral and spatial characteristics. In this paper, location of control points in a reference image is extracted by SURF, and then, location of their corresponding pairs is estimated from the correlation of the local similarity. In the case of local similarity, phase correlation method, which is based on fourier transformation, is applied. In the experiments by simulated, Landsat-8, and ASTER datasets, the proposed algorithm could extract reliable matching points compared to the existing SURF-based method.

  • In the process of submitting a manuscript to a journal in order to present the results of the research at the research institution, researchers often proofread the manuscript because it can manuscripts to communicate the results more effectively. Currently, most of the manuscript proofreading companies use the manual proofreader assignment method according to the subjective judgment of the matching manager. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a topic-based proofreader matching method for effective proofreading results. The proposed method is categorized into two steps. First, a topic modeling is performed by using Latent Dirichlet Allocation. In this process, the frequency of each document constituting the representative document of a user is determined according to the importance of the document. Second, the user similarity is calculated based on the cosine similarity method. In addition, we confirmed through experiments by using real-world dataset. The performance of the proposed method is superior to the comparative method, and the validity of the matching results was verified using qualitative evaluation.

  • In this paper, we envisioned a multimedia object recognition system processing and combinig information from all available sources, such as 2-D, 3-D, color and sound data. Out of the overall system, we proposed 3-D information extraction and object recognition methods. Firstly, surfaces are classified by z-gradient from the range data, surface features are extracted using the intersection of normal vectors. Also feature relationship such as intersection angle and distance is established between the surfaces. Secondly, recognition is accomplished by matching process which is improtant step in the image understanding systems. Matching process is very improtant procedures because of more general and more efficient method is needed in the field of multimedia sytem. Therefore, we focused the proposal of matching process and in this article, first of all, we deal with the matching process of the 3-D object. Similarity measures are calculated.

  • In this paper we propose an object similarity matching method based on shape characteristics of an object in an image. The proposed method extracts edge points from edges of objects and generates a log polar histogram with respect to each edge point to represent the relative placement of extracted points. It performs the matching in such a way that it compares polar histograms of two edge points sequentially along with edges of objects, and uses a well-known k-NN(nearest neighbor) approach to retrieve similar objects from a database. To verify the proposed method, we've compared it to an existing Shape-Context method. Experimental results reveal that our method is more accurate in object matching than the existing method, showing that when k=5, the precision of our method is 0.75-0.90 while that of the existing one is 0.37, and when k=10, the precision of our method is 0.61-0.80 while that of the existing one is 0.31. In the experiment of rotational transformation, our method is also more robust compared to the existing one, showing that the precision of our method is 0.69 while that of the existing one is 0.30.
