For this objective, structured questionnaires were distributed to 309 middle-aged women at the age of 40-59 years old living in Seoul and new cities of metropolitan area. Statistics such as ANOVA, Pearson Coefficient and Multiple Regression were adopted for statistical analysis. The main result of this research is as follows: First, housewives showed higher preference for silver town than people involved in other occupations. Second, though the relation of friends and neighbors among the social relation network of middle-aged women affected the preference for silver town, that of family did not affect significantly. • In this study 1-[4-(2-methoxy benzyl)-6-aryl-pyridazin-3(2H)-ylidene] hydrazines were used for the synthesis of new heterocyclic systems such as thiazolidine, phthalazine, pyrazolo, tetrazolo, hydrazide and new pyridazine derivatives to explore the effect of silver nanoparticles on their biological activity efficiency. Structures of the new heterocycles were characterized by the aid of several analytical techniques including; $^1H$-NMR, FTIR and mass spectra. Silver nanoparticles were synthesized by a simple methodology and the formation of silver nanoparticles was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV studies. Most of the new prepared heterocycles were evaluated in vitro as new antimicrobial agents. Combination effects of the silver nanoparticles on the antimicrobial activity of the new heterocycles were investigated using the disk diffusion method. Compound 10a exhibited the strongest enhancing effect of silver nanoparticles solution against Aspergillus flavus and Candida albicans.

  • Purpose: In this study consumers' preference for housing for elderly people was analyzed as well as the recognition by elders of silver town facilities, and their preference for service provided by silver town. The study was done to provide basic data for the development of silver town facilities that are low in cost and high in efficiency. Methods: A sample research was used in this study to analyze the understanding of old age, silver town, and service preference. Results: First, interest and intention to live in silver town was very positive, however low cost was also preferred and that is quite different to current silver towns of Korea. Second, women have more understanding of, requests for, and intention to move into silver town facilities than men. Women's demands for silver town facilities must be reflected in the development strategy of silver towns. Third, the most important part of activating silver town facilities is price strategy. Government political support is required in order to keep silver town move-in costs affordable. Fourth, silver towns must function as total service complex towns. Conclusion: This study is meaningful as efficient operation of silver town is suggested rather than facility degradation to achieve price reduction. This result is important to the development of silver towns based on consumer preference, as it suggests a development direction that is focused on securing differentiated services and programs.

  • Silver nanoparticles (size: $7.9{\pm}0.95$ nm, dosage: 250 mg/kg) were orally administered to pregnant rats. At 4 days after parturition, four pups were randomly selected (one pup from one dam) and silver level in liver, kidney, lung and brain was determined by ICP-MS and electron microscope. As results, silver nanoparticles highly accumulated in the tissues of the pups. Silver level in the treated group was $132.4{\pm}43.9$ ng/g in the kidney (12.3 fold compared to control group), $37.3{\pm}11.3$ ng/g in the liver (7.9 fold), $42.0{\pm}8.6$ ng/g in the lung (5.9 fold), and $31.1{\pm}4.3$ ng/g in the brain (5.4 fold). This result suggested that the possible transfer of silver nanoparticles from pregnant dams to the fetus through mainly placenta.

  • Studying awareness, importance, satisfaction, and wearing behavior of functional textiles for active silver generation related with gender and age is expected to contribute to clothing products development to improve and maintain their health and marketing strategy fit for user characteristics. For empirical research, a survey was developed and the aged 50 and above were 332 respondents. The results of the study are as follows. First, silver generation considered all the clothing comfort sensations important when wearing clothes, such as tactile sensation, clothing pressure sensation, thermal/wet sensation, and motion sensation in human physiological aspect. Also, stretchy fabrics were ranked first in awareness, the number of wearing times, and satisfaction of comfort functional fabrics. More than 30% of silver generation have fifteen items out of 36 functional clothes. Second, in analysis of awareness by gender on functional clothing products, women were more aware of health/safety-oriented fabrics than men were. Otherwise, men had more knowledge about the water-related properties of functional fabrics than women have, such as water/moisture absorptive and water-repellent/vapor permeable fabrics. While women have more indoor casual wear, men had more active sportswear. Also, women expressed a strong preference to the stretchy function of fabrics.
