The purpose of this study was effect of hamstring length on one leg stance test(OLST) in 108 persons. (men 28, women 80). The active knee extension test(AKE) was applied 3 times on both leg and high score was selected. Then, one leg stance test(OLST) was applied 3 times on both leg and high score was selected. Also, persons divided two group that is normal hamstring length group and shortening group). The result were as follows : 1. The correlation analysis between Lt. hamstring length and one leg stance time was no significant relation($p_{Lt.}=0.271$, $p_{Rt.}=0.051$). 2. The correlation analysis between Rt. hamstring length and one leg stance time was no significant relation($p_{Lt.}=0.837$, $p_{Rt.}=0.334$). 3. The independent T -test between Lt. hamstring normal (knee extension > 150degrees) & shortening group (knee extension ${\leq}$ 150 degrees) in Lt. leg stance time was no significant difference(p=0.73), but in Rt. leg stance time was statistically significant difference(p=0.04). 4. The independent T-test between Rt. hamstring normal (knee extension > 150degrees) & shortening group (knee extension ${\leq}$ 150 degrees) in one leg stance time was no significant difference($p_{Lt.}=0.09$, $p_{Rt.}=0.16$).
The purpose of this study is to apply the PEOE class model that can enhance students' scientific creative problem-solving ability and self-directed learning ability in the middle school science subject and analyze the effects of it on students' long- and short-term retention, scientific creative problem-solving ability, and self-directed learning characteristics. And the paper has gained the following results: First, according to the result of analysis through the pre-test, post-test, and delay test to examine the effects of PEOE-based class on learners' long- and short-term retention, it is found to be statistically significant in the significant level of .05. In other words, the class using PEOE influences learners' short-term retention significantly, but it is even more effective in transmitting the concept that students acquire into their long-term memory. Second, according to the result of analysis through the pre-test and post-test to examine the effects of PEOE-based class on learners' scientific creative problem-solving ability, it is found to be statistically significant in the significant level of .05 in general. However, 'elaboration' and 'originality', the subfactors of scientific creative problem-solving ability, do not indicate significant effects. Third, according to the result of analysis through the pre-test and post-test to examine the effects of PEOE-based class on learners' self-directed learning characteristics, it is found to be statistically significant in the significant level of .05 as a whole. However, 'openness' and 'future-oriented self-understanding', the subfactors of self-directed learning characteristics, do not exert significant effects. Based on the above study results, it can be concluded that PEOE-based class is more effective for learners' academic achievement in science, scientific creative problem-solving ability, and self-directed learning characteristics than lecture-method instruction regarding the middle school science unit of 'The Properties of Air and Weather Change'.
The purpose of this study was to compare the relationship among the Dynamic Gait Index(DGI), Berg Balance Scale(BBS) scores, Timed Up & Go Test(TUG), and subject characteristics. The subjects were fifteen stroke with hemiplegia were chosen in the Konyang University Hospital. Dynamic balance was measured Dynamic Gait Index(DGI), and balance was measured using Berg Balance Scale(BBS). Timed Up & Go Test(TUG) was used to evaluate functional mobility. Data were analyzed using Spearman correlation. There was significant correlated among Dynamic Gait Index(DGI), Berg Balance Scale(BBS) and Timed Up & Go Test(TUG)(p<.01). The correlation among subject characteristics and Dynamic Gait Index(DGI), Berg Balance Scale(BBS), Timed Up & Go Test(TUG) score was significant result in r = -.527 from Dynamic Gait Index(DGI) and pathogenesis(p<.05). There were no significant statistical differences among the types of spasticity and Dynamic Gait Index(DGI), Berg Balance Scale(BBS), Timed Up & Go Test(TUG). The comparison among the sex, type of hemiplegia, pain, pathogenesis and Dynamic Gait Index(DGI), Berg Balance Scale(BBS), Timed Up & Go Test(TUG) score was significant result in pathogenesis(p<.05). The results of this study showed that there was high correlations among the Dynamic Gait Index(DGI) and balance test of people with stroke.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine effect of attribution disposition and self-efficacy on test anxiety in selected college students who major in dental hygiene. This study provides basic data to develop a program for dental hygiene students to reduce test anxiety. Methods : 328 students from A college in Kyungnam, B college in Chunnam and C university in Chungnam who majored in dental hygiene were asked to answer the self-efficacy scale, attribution disposition and test anxiety scale in November and December. 2008. Total of 311 copies were analyzed. Using SPSS 15.0, correlation analysis was conducted and structural model was verified using AMOS 7.0. Evaluation of mediated effect of attribution disposition in suggested structural model was assessed using Sobel verification. Results : 1. Looking at the correlation among self-efficacy, attribution disposition and test anxiety. Self-efficacy had negative relation with external attribution disposition and test anxiety. External attribution disposition had positive relation with test anxiety. 2. Path coefficient from self-efficacy to internal attribution disposition was significant positively and path coefficient from self-efficacy to external attribution disposition was significant negatively. However, the path coefficient from self-efficacy to test anxiety was insignificant. 3. Path coefficient from external attribution disposition to self-efficacy was positively significant. However, the path coefficient from internal attribution disposition to self-efficacy was not significant statistically. 4. In structural model among attribution disposition, test anxiety and self-efficacy, indirect effect of external attribution dispositions was significant statistically. The students with higher self-efficacy showed lower external attribution disposition, the students with lower external attribution disposition showed lower test anxiety. Conclusions : To reduce test anxiety, educators should find a strategy that can improve students' self-efficacy and change their attribution disposition.
This study was implemented for 84 students of dental hygiene to show the correlation between dental caries experience and improved caries activity test. Dental caries experience for the sample groups was examined and stimulative saliva secreted for 5 minutes was collected into the tube to check saliva secretion rate. Dentocult LB test was executed to observe Lactobacilli colonies after 96 hour cultivation of culture slides moistened with stimulative saliva. Dentocult SM test(screening strip, site strip) was done to measure SM colonies distribution after 48 hour cultivation of culture strips applied with collected saliva and dental plaque respectively, and salivary buffering capacity was checked by means of Dentobuff strip kit. Following conclusions are obtained after examining the relation between Dentocult LB, Dentocult SM, Dentobuff strip test results and DMFT index, salivary secretion rate. 1. Showed no significant difference between Dentocult LB test results and DMFT index, salivary secretion rate. 2. Showed no significant difference between Dentocult SM(screening strip) test results and DMFT index, salivary secretion rate. 3. Showed significant difference between Dentocult SM(site strip) test results and DMFT index(pE0.05), but showed no significant difference between Dentocult SM(site strip) test results and salivary secretion rate. 4. Showed no significant difference between Dentobuff strip test results and DMFT index, but showed a very wide difference between Dentobuff strip test results and salivary secretion rate(pE0.01).
Background : This study was to investigate effect of hot and cold water for the hand dexterity. Methods : A total of 37 subjects having hemiplegia(men=6, women=11) and normal(men=10, women=10) were participated in this study. After both hands was soaked in the small tube for 1 minute, we measured 'making dots in circles(BOTMP)', 'lifting small objects(JHFT)', 'disk turning(MMDT)' test. Results : In the case of normal's dominant hand, there were statistically significant differences in all tests after soaked in the hot water but there were statistically significant differences in 'disk turning' test after soaked in the cold water. In the case of hemiplegia's unaffected hand, there were statistically significant differences in 'disk turning' test after soaked in the hot water but there were statistically significant differences in 'making dots in circles', 'disk turning' test after soaked in the cold water. In the case of hemiplegia's affected hand, there were statistically significant differences in 'lifting small objects', 'disk turning' test after soaked in the hot water but there were statistically significant differences in 'making dots in circles', 'disk turning' test after soaked in the cold water. Conclusion : The hot and cold water were affected in the hand dexterity. Especially, in the case of both normal and hemiplegia, there were statistically significant differences in 'disk turning' test after soaked in the cold and hot water. Therefore, We were founded that affected in gross movement than fine movement.
The aims of this study are to develop web-based learning materials for science and environmental education of elementary school. The effect of environmental education was divided into eight to measure: the awareness of using web as environmental material, the ability to use web as environmental material. the awareness of environmental problems, the satisfaction for environmental education using web, the awareness of preserving local environment, self-leading ability to learn environment, the effect of using environment homepage, and the internalization of environmental awareness. This study obtained the following results; First, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 1.29 points higher than the control group having traditional learning in the awareness of using web as environmental material, showing a statistically significant difference. Second, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 2.80 points higher than the control group in the ability to use web as environmental material, showing a statistically significant difference. Third, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 1.10 points higher than the control group in the awareness of environmental problems, showing a statistically significant difference. Fourth, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based teaming was 0.89 points higher than the control group in the satisfaction for environmental education using web, showing a statistically significant difference. Fifth, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 1.70 points higher than the control group in the self-leading ability to learn environment, showing a statistically significant difference. Sixth, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 1.21 points higher than the control group in the effect of using environment homepage, showing a statistically significant difference. Finally, as a result of post-test, the average of the test group of web-based learning was 1.39 points higher than the control group in the internalization of environmental awareness, showing a statistically significant difference. Based on these results, it is assumed that the teaching method which applied web-based teaming to science and environmental education in elementary school is a effective strategy for elementary science and on environmental education.
Background: This study was to investigate effects of falls prevention exercise on functional fitness in elderly. Methods: A total of 45 healthy over 65years old adults (men=15, women=30) who were participated in this study. Exercise were involved in the period of 12 week complex physical training for around 50 minutes a day, three times per week. We measured subjects' physical activity levels by short physical performance battery(SPPB) test, timed up & go(TUG) test, one leg standing test(OLST) with closed eyes and maximal step length (MSL) test. Results: After falls prevention exercise, there were statically significant differences in SPPB, TUG, OLST and MSL test (P<.01) between pre and post test. There were statically significant differences in SPPB, TUG, OLST, MSL between pre and post test in men and women. There were statically significant differences between men and women in SPPB, TUG, OLST and MSL test. Conclusion: Falls prevention exercise had significant effects on physical fitness level in elderly, with a result increase muscle strength, balance ability and it might prevent falls.
The Connected Speech Test (CST) was developed to test hearing aid performance using realistic stimuli (Connected speech) presented in a background of noise with a visible speaker. The CST has not been investigated as a measure of speech reading ability using the visual portion of the CST only. Thirty subjects were administered the 48 test lists of the CST using visual presentation mode only. Statistically significant differences were found between the 48 test lists and between the 12 passages of the CST (48 passages divided into 12 groups of 4 lists which were averaged.). No significant differences were found between male and female subjects; however, in all but one case, females scored better than males. No significant differences were found between students in communication disorders and students in other departments. Intra- and inter-subject variability across test lists and passages was high. Suggestions for further research include changing the scoring of the CST to be more contextually based and changing the speaker for the CST.
This study aims to compared effect of balance between general walking exercise and power walking exercise. Twenty subjects were classified into two groups, general walking exercise(n=10) and power walking exercise(n=10). As a result, two group showed difference within the group and there is significant difference between two groups. 1) In compared static balance of sway area at pre-post test to exercise group, general walking exercise group did not change significantly. however, power walking exercise group did change significantly. and At sway distance, two group showed significant changes. 2) In compared Static balance between the groups sway area and sway path at pre-post test, two group showed significant changes. 3) In compared dynamic balance of center distance at pre-post test to exercise group, general walking exercise group was no significant difference in all directions. power walking exercise group was significant difference in all directions. 4) In compared dynamic balance between the groups sway area and sway path at pre-post test, there was no significant difference in leftward, rightward, forward directions and was significant difference in backward, overall direction. Therefore, power walking exercise can be recommended promote balance.
