  • In this paper, we proposed and implemented a quality measurement algorithm for IS-95 reverse-link signal. To measure the quality of the received signal, equalization, carrier frequency/phase offset estimation, and timing synchronization are essential. And, all signal processing are carried out with baseband signal. The equalizer works with 4-oversampled samples to remove ICI(InterChip Interference). The frequency/phase offset estimator is followed by timing synchronizer since it can work without aid of data and timing information. As the number of interpolation in timing synchronization increases, the measurement accuracy improves, but computation load increases simultaneously. Therefore, one need to choose adequately the number of interpolation regarding to the platform performance to be used for the proposed algorithm.

  • DGPS/Radio beacons are currently being planned or installed in many countries. They offer a cost-effective way of distributing differential data to large number of users. These networks are also being deployed in South Korea, Japan, and China. Several DGPS stations among them are operating on the same frequencies. The DGPS signal based on a radio beacon in medium frequency band travels principally as a groundwave over the surface of the earth. The signal may also be received as skywaves at locations beyond about 100 km from the reference station. These skywaves interfere with groundwave signals due to fading. This factor has generally ignored in designing DGPS/Radio beacon systems. A further important factor is to reduce the coverage due to interference from other beacons on the same or adjacent frequencies. The desired signal may fade due to interaction between its skywave and groundwave components. It may degrade the accuracy of the positioning in a complex fashion. This paper estimates the coverage of Far East Asia DGPS stations which are operating on the same frequencies, which is based on the signal protection ratio and interference of the signal strength of the groundwave and skywave.

  • The operation of Interference cancellation algorithm for wireless repeater cancellation depends on either existing correlation properties between desired signal and reference signal or not At the time, due to the correlation properties at the ICS system, adaptive algorithms without considering system delay do not function properly. Thus, this system should be oscillated. In this paper, to solve these problems, we use the delayed least mean square algorithm. For the best performance of ICS, the system delays must be estimated. To efficiently estimate the delay of ICS, we use relations between bandwidth and correlation properties of the received signal.

  • Interference alignment (IA) has been a powerful approach to achieve the maximum degree of freedom (DoF) for K users multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) interference channels. However, due to the feasibility constraint, aligning all the interference signals at each receiver is impractical for large K without symbol extension. In this paper, we propose two best-effort interference alignment (BEIA) schemes that the network selects the maximum number of interfering transmitters to align their signals given the feasibility conditions when each transmitter-receiver pair has a constant number of data streams. Besides, in case of not all interfering signals aligned at each receiver, an upper bound of the average throughput is derived. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes have superiority over the traditional methods, such as time division multiple access (TDMA) and cluster IA(CIA), in low and moderate signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region in terms of average user throughput. In addition, the proposed max-min relative interference distance alignment scheme outperforms the proposed scheme of equal interfering transmitters number alignment in terms of both average user throughput and minimum user throughput.

  • In this paper, we proposed a Dynamic Channel Assignment (DCA) scheme called Graph Coloring based DCA (GC-DCA) to improve system performance for downlink femtocell networks with high density femto Access Point (AP) deployments. The proposed scheme consists of two steps: one is a femto AP grouping step considering interference and the other is a DCA step considering Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) for femto User Equipments (UEs). Simulation results show that the proposed GC-DCA outperforms other schemes in terms of the mean femto UE capacity and probability of femto UEs which have capacities less than a given transmit rate.

  • In this paper, it is analyzed the statistical characteristics on the transmission performance of the optical SCM transmission in the CDMA RF signal relay system. Using Mach-Zehnder modulator, optical signal is regenerated into CDMA RF signal. Transfer function model of mach-Zehnder modulator is approximated to the third power of the input signal using Taylor series. BER results are analyzed under the multiple access interference and multi-path fading environment.

  • In Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A), small cell enhancement(SCE) has been developed as a cost-effective way of supporting exponentially increasing demand of wireless data services and satisfying the user quality of service(QoS). However, there are many problems such as the transmission rate and transmission quality degradation due to the dense and irregular distribution of a large number of small cells. In this paper, we propose a clustering based interference management scheme in dense small cell network. We divide the small cells into different clusters according to the reference signal received power(RSRP) from user equipment(UE). Within a cluster, an almost blank subframe(ABS) is implemented to mitigate interference between the small cells. In addition, we apply the power control to reduce the interference between the clusters. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio(SINR), throughput, and spectral efficiency of small cell users. Eventually, proposed scheme can improve overall cell performance.

  • With the increased demand for automotive radar systems, mutual interference between vehicles has become a crucial issue that must be resolved to ensure better automotive safety. Mutual interference between frequency modulated continuous waveform (FMCW) radar system appears in the form of increased noise levels in the frequency domain and results in a failure to separate the target object from interferers. The traditional fast fourier transform (FFT) algorithm, which is used to estimate the beat frequency, is vulnerable in interference-limited automotive radar environments. In order to overcome this drawback, we propose a high-resolution frequency estimation technique for use in interference environments. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithms, a 77GHz FMCW radar system is considered. The proposed method employs a high-resolution algorithm, specially the multiple signal classification and estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques, which are able to estimate beat frequency accurately.

  • In OFDM-based Full Duplex Relays (FDR) with Decode and Forward (DF) scheme, an interference cancellation technique in the frequency domain is more efficient than the one in the time domain. However, an Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) and Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI) may occur due to the timing mismatch between the feedback interference signal and the desired signal from Base Station (BS) when the feedback interference cancellation and demodulation are performed in the frequency domain. In this paper, the effects of timing mismatch on the synchronous type and asynchronous type of OFDM-based FDR are analyzed for uplink and downlink cases. Then, synchronization procedure and methods for reducing ISI and ICI in OFDM-based FDR with frequency-domain feedback interference canceller are proposed and verified by computer simulation.

  • The detrimental effect of short-term fading and shadowing can be mitigated using microdiversity and macrodiversity systems, respectively. In this paper, implementation of selection combining at both micro and macro levels to improve system performance is analyzed. An assessment of the performance of such a system is carried out by considering the desired signal as Rician fading with lognormal shadowing and cochannel interference signal as Rayleigh fading superimposed over lognormal shadowing. The proposed analysis is complemented by various performance evaluation results, including the effects on overall system performance of fading severity, shadowing spreads and branch correlation existing at the base station, and correlation between base stations.
