  • The performance of blind source separation(BSS) using independent component analysis (ICA) declines significantly in a reverberant environment. A post-processing method proposed in this paper was designed to remove the residual component precisely. The proposed method used modified NLMS(normalized least mean square) filter in frequency domain, to estimate cross-talk path that causes residual cross-talk components. Residual cross-talk components in one channel is correspond to direct components in another channel. Therefore, we can estimate cross-talk path using another channel input signals from adaptive filter. Step size is normalized by input signal power in conventional NLMS filter, but it is normalized by sum of input signal power and error signal power in modified NLMS filter. By using this method, we can prevent misadjustment of filter weights. The estimated residual cross-talk components are subtracted by non-stationary spectral subtraction. The computer simulation results using speech signals show that the proposed method improves the noise reduction ratio(NRR) by approximately 3dB on conventional FDICA.

  • Wigner-Ville distribution has been recognized as a useful tool and applied to various types of mechanical noise and vibration signals, but its limitation which mainly comes from the cross-talk has not been well addressed. The cross-talk takes place for a signal with multiple components, simply because the Wigner-Ville distribution is a bilinear transform. The cross-talk often causes a negative value in the distribution. This cannot be accepted for the Wigner- Ville distribution, because it is an expression of power. Smoothing the Wigner-Ville distribution by convoluting it wih a window, is most commonly used to reduce the cross-talk. There can be infinite number of distributions depending on the windows. In this paper, we attempted to develop a distribution which is the best or the optimal in reducing the cross-talk. This could be possible by employing the ambiguity function. For a general signal, however it is difficult to express the ambiguity function as a mathematically closed form. This requires an appropriate modeling to make such expression possible. We approximated the Wigner-Ville distribution as a sum of linear segments. In the ambiguity function domain, the legitimate components are reflected as linear lines passing through the origin. Every lines has its own length and slope. But, the cross-talk is widely distributed in the ambiguity function plane. Based on this realization, we proposed a two-dimensional window which is in fact 'rotating window', that can eliminate cross-talk component. The rotating window is examined numerically and is found to have a better performance in reducing the cross-talk than conventional windows, the Gaussian window.

  • Cross-talk noise which can occur between on-chip interconnects is significant factor which influence signal integrity. Therefore, this paper presents an analytical method for estimating maximum cross-talk noise. We consider inductance effect of interconnects and use arbitary ramp inputs to estimate noise magnitude exactly. Also, we have used a virtual source for the easy of analytically caculating maximum cross-talk noise from complex cross-talk noise model. The accuracy of the has been shown that be within 4.3 percent maximum relative error compared with the results of HSPICE simulation. Hence, this study can be utilized in various CAD tools for guaranteeing signal integrity.

  • This paper proposes a new double-talk detection algorithm which is based on the fuzzy rules, in the adaptive echo canceller of telecommunication system. In this method, the two inputs of the fuzzy inference for detecting double-talk condition are used. One is the cross-correlation coefficient between the error signal and the primary signal which is the summation of the real echo signal and the near-end signal. The other one is the cross-correlation coefficient between the estimation error signal and the primary signal. The fuzzy controller makes a fuzzification for two inputs by the membership functions of trapezoid does the max-min composition using if-then rules. The composed result is defuzzificated by the center gravity method. And by defuzzificated values, the double-talt the echo path variance, and the echo path variance during the double-talk are detected. It is confirmed by computer simulation that this fuzzy double-talk detector is able to estimate the double talk and the echo path variation condition, and even track echo path variation more accurately than the conventional algorithm during the double-talk period.

  • If the right and left signals of a binaural sound recording are reproduced through loudspeakers instead of a headphone, they are inevitably mixed during their transmission to the ears of the listener. This degrades the desired realism in the sound reproduction system, which is commonly called 'cross-talk.' A 'cross-talk canceler' that filters binaural signals before they are sent to the sound sources is needed to prevent cross-talk. A cross-talk canceler equalizes the resulting sound around the listener's ears as if the original binaural signal sound is reproduced next to the ears of listener. A cross-talk canceler is also a solution to the problem-how binaural sound is distributed to more than 2 channels that drive sound sources. This paper presents an effective way of building a cross-talk canceler in which geometric information, including locations of the listener and multiple loudspeakers, is divided into angular information and distance information. The presented method makes a database in an off-line way using an adaptive filtering technique and Head Related Transfer Functions. Though the database is mainly concerned about the situation where loudspeakers are located on a standard radius from the listener, it can be used for general radius cases after a distance compensation process, which requires a small amount of computation. Issues related to inverting a system to build a cross-talk canceler are discussed and numerical results explaining the preferred configuration of a sound reproduction system for stereo loudspeakers are presented.

  • Wigner-Ville distribution which is a time-frequency analysis has a fatal drawback, when the signal has multiple components. This is the cross-talk and often causes a neagative value in the distribution. Wingner-Ville distriution is an expression of power, therefore the cross-talk must be avoided. Smoothing the Wigner-Ville distribution by convoluting it with a window, is most commonly used to reduce the cross-talk. There can be infinite number of distributions depending on the windows. But, the smoothing reduces resolution in time-frequency plane; this motives to design a more effective window in reducing cross-talk while remaining resolution. The domain in which the cross-talk and legitimate components can be easily distinguished, is the ambiguity function. In the ambiguity function domain, the legitimate components appear as linear lines passing through the orgine. But, the cross-talk is widely distributes in the ambiguity function plane. Based on the relative distributions of cross-talk and legitimate components, rotating window can be designed to minimize cross-talk. Applying the rotating window to the ambiguity function corresponds to smoothing the Wigner-Ville distribution. Therefore, the effects of rotating window is estimated in terms of the bias error due to smooting the Wigner-Ville distribution. By applying the rotating window, not only the Wigner-Ville distribution but also its properties are changed. The properties of the new distribution are checked, in order to complete analyzing the rotating window.

  • Double-talk detection errors can result in either large residual echo or distorting the near-end talker's input speech. Thus accurate double-talk detection is an important problem in the acoustic echo canceller to improve the speech quality. In the double-talk detection algorithm using a cross-correlation coefficient, double-talk detection errors can occur in the initial convergence period of an adaptive filter or in noisy environment since the cross-correlation coefficient becomes large in such situations. In this paper, we propose a new double-talk detection algorithm based on the cross-correlation method using a normalized error signal power to reduce the double-talk detection errors. The experimental results have shown the performance improvement of an acoustic echo canceller as well as the noise-robustness of the proposed double-talk detector.

  • Cross-talk artifacts occur in two adjacent groups of axial imaging of lesions lumbar 4-5 and sacrum 1 in lumbar spine MRI. This causes problems in reading lesions in areas corresponding to the posterior vertebra. In this study, we are going to completely remove the cross-talk artifacts through optimal concatenation TR. The region of interested were measured by averaging them into fat (ROI1), erector spinal muscle(lateral tract: iliocostalis lumborum muscle) (ROI2), erector spinal muscle(lateral tract: longissimus muscle) (ROI3), and spinous process (ROI4). The mean signal intensity (SI) was 163.43 ± 25.08 at C4 for ROI1, ROI 2 and ROI 3 at C6, 67.89 ± 11.75 and 69.99 ± 10.91 and ROI4 at C5, respectively (p<0.000). The mean signal to noise ratio (SNR) was 135.45 ± 35.90, 56.92 ± 15.90, 58.77 ± 15.59, and 54.91 ± 118.95 for SNR 1, 2, 3 and 4 (p<0.000). The contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) was CNR1 78.52 ± 24.11, CNR2 was 76.67 ± 24.38 and CNR3 was 80.54 ± 26.33 in concatenation 6, respectively (p<0.000). The SNR, CNR, and the most efficient concatenation TR value over time are 6, and it is considered to help reduce cross-talk artifact if this is applied to T1 axial images.

  • Recently, it has been developed for Eco-environment, Super light, Multi-functional nano materials. As needed mobile parts in Smart phone or TV, computer, information communication for high pass signal, multi-function, Magnetic thin film materials have been developed. As last, magnetic powder, sintered and sputtering parts were thick and low purity than electroplating layer, low pass signal and noise were resulted, vibrated TV screen. Because chemical complex temperature was high and ununiform surface layer, it has been very difficult for data pass in High Frequency (GHz) area. Large capacity data pass is used to GHz. Above GHz, signal pass velocity is dependent on Skin Effect of surface layer. If surface layer is thick or ununiform, attachment is poor, low pass signal and cross talk, noise are produced and leaked. It has been reported technical trend of Electrochemically plating and Surface treatment of Metal, Polymer, Ceramic etc. by dispersion/complex for Multi functional nano-magnetic material in this paper.
