This study investigates bacteria-zooplankton grazing link and factors affecting their grazing relationship at trophically different two sites (Paldang Dam and Kyungan Stream) of Lake Paldang Ecosystem from April to December, 2005. Zooplankton were divided into two size groups; microzooplankton (MICZ) : 60-200 ${\mu}m$ and macrozooplankton (MACZ): >200 ${\mu}m$), and their grazing rates on bacteria were conducted for each size group separately. Bacterial abundance and seasonal change pattern were similar between two sites. MICZ, mostly rotifers (e.g., Brachionus, Keratella, Polyathra) were numerically dominant at both sites, while carbon biomass was highest in cladocerans. Zooplankton biomass was higher at the Kyungan Steam site compared to Paldang Dam site, and their high biomass during spring decreased as they were passing through the storm events in summer season at both sites. Zooplankton clearance rate (CR) was high in spring and autumn while low in summer at Paldang Dam site. However, zooplankton CR was high during the summer at Kyungan Stream site. Bacterial C-flux was high in spring and autumn when MACZ (esp. cladecerans) developed at a high biomass level at both sites. Overall, MACZ community CR and carbon flux (C-flux) were higher than those of MICZ, and the degree of difference between them was higher at Kyungan Stream site. Short hydraulic residence time and physical disturbance caused by summer storm event appeared to affect the zooplankton grazing on bacteria at both sites. The results of this study indicate that bacteria are potentially important carbon source of zooplankton, and that both biotic (e.g,, prey and predator taxa composition and abundance) and physical parameters appear to alter energy transfer in the planktonic food web of this river-reservoir hybrid system.
To investigate the effect of V and Sb on the corrosion behavior of Zr- based alloys, corrosion tests were performed on 6 kinds of Zr alloys in an autoclave at $360^{\circ}C$ for 100 days. The transition of the corrosion rate occurred in the sample containing 0.1wt.%V after 10 days but did not occur in the samples containing 0.2wt.%V and 0.4wt.%V. The corrosion resistance of V containing alloys increased with increasing V contents from 0.1 to 0.4wt.% and the alloys containing 0.4wt.%V showed the best corrosion resistance. In the ternary alloys containing 0.1wt.%Sb and 0.4wt.%Sb, the corrosion rate increased significantly from the short exposure time. It was observed that the optimal Sb content for corrosion resistance was 0.2wt.%. The size and volume fraction of precipitates increased with increasing V and Sb contents. The superior corrosion resistance was observed in the Zr alloy having precipitate size of 0.11-0.13$\mu\textrm{m}$. From the result of corrosion behavior and the obserbation of precipitates, the optimal size of the precipitate appear to control the electron conduction in the cathodic reaction and play an important role in maintaining a stable oxide microstructure.

Total body irradiation (TBI) requires large radiation field and extended source to axis distance (SAD), therefore in needs large size treatment room and it needs compensators which components. Appropriate thickness beam spoiler should be used to raise skin dose. Treatment machine, photon energy, total dose, dose rate, dose fractionation, patient position, shield of normal tissues and organs were known to important parameters for TBI. TBI disturbes regular daily treatment schedule and significantly overloads Radiation on oncology departments and during the treatment session it requires accurate reproduction of radiation field and patient position. We were enable to TBI in small size treatment room and short SAD with parallel opposing lateral fields technique and achieved homogenious whole body dose distribution using pb compensators and controled lung dose by lung shield blocks. Drawing a patient shadow on the wall, we could shortened set up time and possible to accurate reproduction of radiation field and patient position.

A study of gas hydrate is a worldwide popular interesting subject as a potential energy source. A seismic survey for gas hydrate have performed over the East sea by the KIGAM since 1997. General indicators of natural submarine gas hydrates in seismic data is commonly inferred from the BSR (Bottom Simulating Reflection) that occurred parallel to the see floor, amplitude decrease at the top of the BSR, amplitude Blanking at the bottom of the BSR, decrease of the interval velocity, and the reflection phase reversal at the BSR. So the seismic data processing for detecting gas hydrates indicators is required the true amplitude recovery processing, a accurate velocity analysis and the AVO (Amplitude Variation with Offset) analysis. In this paper, we had processed the field data to detect the gas hydrate indicators, which had been acquired over the East sea in 1998. Applied processing modules are spherical divergence, band pass filtering, CDP sorting and accurate velocity analysis. The AVO analysis was excluded, since this field data had too short offset to apply the AVO analysis. The accurate velocity analysis was performed by XVA (X-window based Velocity Analysis). This is the method which calculate the velocity spectrum by iterative and interactive. With XVA, we could determine accurate stacking velocity. Geobit 2.9.5 developed by the KIGAM was used for processing data. Processing results say that the BSR occurred parallel to the sea floor were shown at $367\~477m$ depths (two way travel time about 1800 ms) from the sea floor through shot point 1650-1900, the interval velocity decrease around BSR and the reflection phase reversal corresponding to the reflection at the sea floor.

It is as result that study to apply mini magnet nerve curer in peripheral nervous system disease treatment. Design and embodied action power and Control Unit in cylinder form of magnet roof object firstly. Yielded service area about special quality of probe of roof object cylinder style and treatment area dimension and distance of treatment pulse secondly. Embody pulse forming course energy value by Probe's form by third, could embody treatment pulse by disease. Specially, through a special quality experiment, saved Damping pulse form and treatment pulse form etc. variously. Lately, embodied this to aid a little in disease treatment that follow that there is no invasion that there is no stimulation by medicine development. Go amplitude treatment pulse (traditional magneto-therapy of greatly great that strong) does curative effect greatest at short time and becomes thought that demand is magnified greatly at the future in this research.

Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) has been explored recently as a promising approach to increase energy conversion efficiency in photovoltaic devices, particularly for thin film hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) solar cells. The LSPR is frequently excited via an electromagnetic (EM) radiation in proximate metallic nanostructures and its primary con sequences are selective photon extinction and local EM enhancement which gives rise to improved photogeneration of electron-hole (e-h) pairs, and consequently increases photocurrent. In this work, high-dielectric-constant (k) $ZrO_2$ (refractive index n=2.22, dielectric constant $\varepsilon=4.93$ at the wavelength of 550 nm) is proposed as spacing layer to enhance the LSPR for application to the thin film silicon solar cells. Compared to excitation of the LSPR using $SiO_2$ (n=1.46, $\varepsilon=2.13$ at the wavelength of 546.1 nm) spacing layer with Au nanoparticles of the radius of 45nm, that using $ZrO_2$ dielectric shows the advantages of(i) ~2.5 times greater polarizability, (ii) ~3.5 times larger scattering cross-section and ~1.5 times larger absorption cross-section, (iii) 4.5% higher transmission coefficient of the same thickness and (iv) 7.8% greater transmitted electric filed intensity at the same depth. All those results are calculated by Mie theory and Fresnel equations, and simulated by finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) calculations with proper boundary conditions. Red-shifting of the LSPR wavelength using high-k $ZrO_2$ dielectric is also observed according to location of the peak and this is consistent with the other's report. Finally, our experimental results show that variation of short-circuit current density ($J_{sc}$) of the LSPR enhanced a-Si:H solar cell by using the $ZrO_2$ spacing layer is 45.4% higher than that using the $SiO_2$ spacing layer, supporting our calculation and theory.
Understanding the pore structure including pore shape and connectivity in unconventional reservoirs is essential to increase the recovery rate of unconventional energy resources such as shale gas and oil. In this study, we found analysis condition to probe the nanoscale pore structure in shale reservoirs using Focused Ion Beam (FIB) and Ion Milling System (IMS). A-068 core samples from Liard Basin are used to probe the pore structure in shale reservoirs. The pore structure is analyzed with different pretreatment methods and analysis condition because each sample has different characteristics. The results show that surface milling by FIB is effective to obtain pore images of several micrometers local area while milling a large-area by IMS is efficient to observe various pore structure in a short time. Especially, it was confirmed that the pore structure of rocks with high content of carbonate minerals and high strength can be observed with milling by IMS. In this study, the analysis condition and process for observing the pore structure in the shale reservoirs is established. Further studies are needed to perform for probing the effect of pore size and shape on the enhancement of shale gas recovery.

In the case of a concrete structure, vibration problems occur under various conditions because of its low damping performance. To solve this problem, a study on the high damping performance of the polymer concrete with hybrid damper has recently been increased. Since water is not used in polymer concrete, the curing time is short. Also, the physical properties and dynamic properties of polymer concrete are quite excellent. So polymer concrete is widely expected to be used for structural materials. The hybrid damper is the structural system that consists of steel balls and viscous fluid inside the pipe which is embedded in polymer concrete. It can reduce the structural vibrations through the energy dissipation mechanism of viscous fluid and steel balls. In this study, the physical and dynamic properties of polymer concrete with hybrid damper were compared with ordinary concrete. As a result, the elasticity coefficient and the strength of the polymer concrete with hybrid damper were so much excellent. In particular, the tensile strength was 6.5 to 10 times higher than ordinary concrete. The frequency response function and damping ratio were also compared. As a result, the dynamic Stiffness of the polymer concrete was 25% greater than that of ordinary concrete. The damping ratio of the polymer concrete was approximately 3 times higher than that of ordinary concrete. Although the dynamic stiffness of the hybrid damper showed similar tendency, the damping ratio was 3.5 times higher than that of ordinary concrete. Therefore, the polymer concrete with hybrid damper was superior to ordinary concrete.
In this study, a smart material applicable to speed bumps was developed using low-cost starch and waterbased suspensions, and their properties were investigated. Viscosity and shear stress according to the shear rate was measured by a rheometer to observe shear thickening behavior according to starch concentration. The shear thickening phenomenon and applicability to speed bumps were identified macroscopically via drop weight test and bike driving test, measuring the vibration after impact with a driving speed of 5-25 km/h. As a result of the viscosity measurement, shear thickening occurred after the shear thinning region at the beginning, and the critical strain causing the shear thickening phenomenon decreased as the concentration of starch increased. Also, the viscosity and shear stress increased significantly with the increase of the starch concentration. As a result of the drop weight test and the bike driving test, the suspension was changed to a solid-like state in a short time, and the impact energy was absorbed in the fluid. The shear thickening phenomenon easily occurred as the concentration of the fluid and the applied impact (velocity) increased. Therefore, it can be proposed the development of a smart speed bump material that operates in the range of 5-25 km/h with a Non-Newtonian fluid based on water and starch.

The current residential process adheres to a traditional method of construction involving wood framing on-site on poured concrete foundations which has been widely applied in North America. A conventional residential construction process can include seventeen distinct stages ranging from stake-out to pre-occupancy inspection. The current practice possesses short comings including high construction material wastes, long scheduling timelines, adverse weather conditions, poor quality, low efficiencies and negative environmental impacts from transportation and equipment use. Over CAN $5 billion dollars was spent in the construction sector during 2007 in Canada. Previous findings in CO2 emissions during the construction process of a conventional dwelling emphasize more than 45 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Hence, in Alberta alone during 2007, almost 50,000 residential units would release more than two million tonnes of CO2. These numbers demonstrate the economical and environmental impact in building construction and its relationship with CO2 emissions. The aim of this paper is to quantify the CO2 emissions from the current residential construction process in order to establish the baseline for CO2 emission reduction opportunities. The quantification collection methodology will be approached by identifying the seventeen various stages of construction and quantifying the contributions of CO2 from specific activities and their impacts of work for each stage. The approach of separating these into separate stages for collection will allow for independent opportunities for analysis from various independent contractors from the entire scope of work. The use of BIM will be implemented to efficiently quantify CO2 emissions. Based on the CO2 quantification baseline, emission reduction opportunities such as an industrialized construction process will be introduced that allows homebuilders to reduce the environmental and economical impact of home construction while enabling them to produce higher quality, more energy efficient homes in a safer and shorter period of time.
