This paper presents the results from the comparison analysis and evaluation between the air pollutant dispersion modeling results and the observation data in the area within a 10 km radius from the Boryong thermal power plants. The observation data used in this study were the air pollutant concentrations which had been continuously measured from 8 locations around the Boryong power plants by TMS(tele-monitoring system) for 3 months from September to November, 1996. The short-term and long-term predictions were carried out using ISC3 model and LPDM(Lagrangian Panicle Dispersion Model). The results of ISC3 modeling in a short-term showed highly as 0.7 in a correlation coefficient, but in a long-term showed just 0.54. On the other hand, LPDM showed 0.78 in a correlation coefficient for a long-term, but in a short-term showed highly value than the observation concentrations.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether strategic alliance sales promotions have short-term or long-term or sales or communication effects in the family restaurant industry. The hypotheses were tested in family restaurant settings using a sample of customers visiting and enjoying food in the metropolitan city of Daegu. Empirical results confirmed that strategic alliance sales promotions had short-term and long-term effects, as well as sales and communication effects. Therefore, family restaurant managers should adopt or keep sales promotion strategic alliances with credit card companies. Furthermore, family restaurant managers should adopt or keep sales promotions with other companies. In a future study, more variables should be selected to test the sales promotion effects of strategic alliances.

This study summarizes domestic and foreign previous works on fluvial terrace with absolute ages to discuss formative process of climatic terrace in Korea. Different from traditional climatic terrace model, approximately three quarters from foreign works have argued that formation of climatic terrace can be attributed to medium- and short-term climatic change or other environmental factors, rather than long-term climatic change of glacial and interglacial cycles. Based on previous works on fluvial terrace in Korea, it can be suggested that fluvial terrace in Korea formed not due to long-term climatic change of 100,000-year cycles related to glacial and interglacial cycles, but due to medium- and short-term climatic change or climatic event of tens of thousands of years related to intensity change in summer monsoon, one of the important factors affecting precipitation in Korea.

In this paper, a method to cope with short-term blackout is proposed. The proposed method uses a capacitor bank consisting of supercapacitors. A supercapacitor is a good means for short-term energy storage. The proposed circuit is simple and accordingly easy to construct and to control. A prototype is constructed and experimental results are presented.

This paper presents the results of critical contingency analysis for the Korean power system which is performed to identify the impact of the critical contingencies on the Korean power system and set up a short term system operation planning for the purpose of preventing large scale blackout. The static and dynamic simulation is carried out for each critical contingency and the simulation results for each contingency are shown under the peak load condition for the year 2005, 2007 and 2010.

This paper proposes a new short-term load forecasting method for special day, such as Public holidays, consecutive holidays, and days before and after holidays. when the load curves are quite different from those of normal weekdays. In this paper, two Artificial Neural Network(ANN) systems are applied to short-term load forecasting for spacial days in anomalous load conditions.

In this paper an optimization of the industrial congeneration system which have a thermal storage tank is proposed for the short-term operation strategy. Short-term operation costs of topping cycle and bottoming cycle are calculated by using the proosed model of a thermal storage tank. Simulation result of four cases are compared and analyzed each other.By these simulations which are similar to real operation circumstances. the validity of the proposed model is verified.

This study investigated children's spatial skills and short term memory ability based on their practice with computer games. The 40 four-year-old and 40 six-year-old subjects were divided by experimental and control groups. Spatial skills of children were assessed by visual speed, mental rotation, and spatial visualization tasks. Short term memory was measured with a digit span task. Results showed that computer game practice enhanced children's memory ability and spatial skills. Even 4-year-olds performed better on mental rotation and spatial visualization tasks after practice. The treatment effect was significant for visual speed of 6-year-olds, short term memory ability and mental rotation of 4-year-olds, and spatial visualization of both 4- and 6-year-olds.

Objective : This single-subject study explored the effect of short-term intensive sensory integration therapy program which was provided in a 2006 sensory integration treatment course on adaptive response of a four-year-girl with sensory modulation disorder(mixed pattern). Method : Based on results of the assessment to the child, her therapist offers an organized sensory integration program during four days. Results : Improvement of child's movement quality and variety in physical environment in therapy rooms and interaction with her therapist were observed. Conclusions : This report of the case will be helpful for occupational therapists who plan to intervent with a short-term intensive sensory integration therapy program. In addition, the need for consideration of consultation with the child's parents is discussed.

The current representative temperature selection method with five cities cannot reflect the sufficient regional climate characteristics. In this paper, the new representative temperature selection method is proposed with the consideration of eight representative cities. The proposed method considered the recent trend of power sales, the climate characteristics and population distribution to improve the accuracy of short-term load forecasting. Case study results for the accuracy of short-term load forecasting are compared for the traditional temperature weights of five cities and the proposed temperature weights of eight cities. The simulation results show that the proposed method provides more accurate results than the traditional method.
