Design and Implementation of Protocol to Transfer Secure Messages for PDA (PDA에서 운용 가능한 보안 메시지 전송 프로토콜 설계 및 구현)

  • This paper proposes and implements a service model to transfer messages safely for PDA on CDMA wireless network and a secure massage transfer protocol which considers characteristics of PDA. Proposed service uses SMS(Short Message Service) connect to a off-line client device with the wired network for data communication. After receiving SMS message, client device processes the SMS message and creates a data channel through RAS(Remote Access Service), then the data of the server can be pushed to clients. The implemented security protocol can provide safe data transmission on each communication line through two way channels(SMS and data). Also, by using security nonce table, this protocol can reduce a number of transmissions for exchanging a safe session key, so intensity of encryption can be increased.

Effects of a Short Message Service Intervention on Adherence to Maximal Sterile Barrier Precautions and Catheter-Related Blood Stream Infections (최대한의 멸균 차단법의 이행도와 중심정맥관 관련 혈류감염 발생에 대한 단문문자메시지 중재 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a short message service intervention on adherence to maximal barrier precautions (MBP) and catheter-related blood stream infections. Method: The data were collected from March to September, 2008, at an 826-bed university-affiliated hospital in Daejeon. The study participants were 24 physicians who were inserting central catheters and 133 patients (control group 78 and intervention group 55) with central catheter insertions. The researcher sent the message (adherence to MBP and optimal recommendations) to each internal medicine doctor using the short message service (SMS) for cellular phones. Messages were sent monthly for 3 months. Data were analyzed by chi-square test and t-test using SPSS 12.0 windows program. Result: Adherence to maximal barrier precautions was significantly increased from 44.9% to 69.1% (p=.006) after the SMS intervention. But changes in the rate of CRBSI (catheter related blood stream infection) between the intervention group (1.89) and the control group (4.45) were not significant (p=.323). Conclusions: The results indicate that the SMS intervention is effective in increasing the adherence to maximal barrier precautions and the SMS intervention can be recommended for utilization in infection control nursing practice.

A Tracking System Using Location Prediction and Dynamic Threshold for Minimizing SMS Delivery

  • In this paper, a novel method called location-based delivery (LBD), which combines the short message service (SMS) and global position system (GPS), is proposed, and further, a realistic system for tracking a target's movement is developed. LBD reduces the number of short message transmissions while maintaining the location tracking accuracy within the acceptable range. The proposed approach, LBD, consists of three primary features: Short message format, location prediction, and dynamic threshold. The defined short message format is proprietary. Location prediction is performed by using the current location, moving speed, and bearing of the target to predict its next location. When the distance between the predicted location and the actual location exceeds a certain threshold, the target transmits a short message to the tracker to update its current location. The threshold is dynamically adjusted to maintain the location tracking accuracy and the number of short messages on the basis of the moving speed of the target. The experimental results show that LBD, indeed, outperforms other methods because it satisfactorily maintains the location tracking accuracy with relatively fewer messages.

  • The SMS(Short Message Service) in Mobile phone is a service that a text message by 80byte is transmitted and received. Recently it's used instead of voice calls. In this paper, We investigate how you take advantage of the SMS for searching information without simply as a means of voice call, and how much efficiency does the SMS have in Location Information Retrieval Services on LBS(Location-based service). Based on the previous topics, we design the information retrieval system using SMS for solveing the rates issue by existing wireless Internet access, and propose the possibility as new forms of content services.

An Improved Machine Learning-Based Short Message Service Spam Detection System

  • The use of Short Message Services (SMS) as a mechanism of communication has resulted to loss of sensitive information such as credit card details, medical information and bank account details (user name and password). Several Machine learning-based approaches have been proposed to address this problem, but they are still unable to detect modified SMS spam messages more accurately. Thus, in this research, a stack- ensemble of four machine learning algorithms consisting of Random Forest (RF), Logistic Regression (LR), Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), and Support Vector Machine (SVM), were employed to detect more accurately SMS spams. The simulation was carried out using Python Scikit- learn tools. The performance evaluation of the proposed model was carried out by benchmarking it with an existing model. The evaluation results showed that the proposed model has an increase of 3.03% of accuracy, 8.94% of Recall, 2.17% of F-measure; and a decrease of 4.55% of Precision over the existing model. In conclusion, the ensemble method performed better than any individual algorithms and can be adopted by the Network service providers for better Quality of Service.

  • 무선 단문전송 서비스(SMS : Short Message Service)란 이동 통신 세계화 시스템의 규격을 따른 무선 호출 서비스로 별도의 부가장비 없이도 40자 내외의 짧은 문장을 주고받을 수 있는 문자 서비스이다. 휴대전화의 보급이 급속도로 확산되면서 이에 비례해 문자 서비스 이용 인구도 급속히 늘어나고 있는데, 이메일과 달리 발송 시점과 거의 동시에 내용 전달이 가능하기 때문에 현재 통신수단의 하나로 이미 확고한 자리를 굳힌 상태다. 또한 근래에는 산업현장에서도 알람이나 FAULT정보 등의 신속한 전달을 위해 SMS에 대한 요구가 높아지고 있다. 이러한 시장의 동향에 따라 본 연구소에서는 산업 현장에서 알람이나 알림, 시스템 FAULT등 긴급한 사항에 대한 단문전송 프로그램을 개발하게 되었다.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for transmitting SMS(Short Message Service) for VoIP(Voice over IP) service supporting multi-protocol. The multi-protocol VoIP under consideration are generally composed of H.323, SIP and MGCP and Most ITSPs(Internet Telephony Service Provider) provide VoIP service with H.323 and SIP now. SMS is killer application in mobile telecom service and many people of various field use that service. For example, user can send many SMS messages and substitute e-mail. Also SMS can be provided with various internet application. Ahn, legacy phone of KT, can use SMS. Therefore VoIP phone also can be required with the same requirement. With the multi-protocol VoIP we will propose several methods sending efficiently SMS. To show the validity of the proposed method some examples are given in which the results can be expected by intuitive observation.

  • 현재 이동 통신 서비스 업체에서는 이동 통신 부가 서비스를 위해서 자체 개발한 주 메모리 자료 구조를 사용하고 있다. 주 메모리 자료 구조는 많은 경우 회복 기능, 동시성 제어 기능등을 제공하지 않으므로 DBMS를 이용하여 구현한 것보다 안정성이 떨어진다. 본 논문에서는 이동 통신 부가 서비스의 하나인 SMS(Short Message Service)를 주 메모리 DBMS와 디스크 기반 DBMS 위에서 각각 구현하고, 그 성능을 비교한다. 주 메모리 DBMS를 사용하여 구현한 SMS 시스템은 최대 초당 약 1700 메시지를 처리하였고, 디스크 기반 DBMS를 사용하여 구현한 SMS 시스템은 데이터가 완전히 cache된 상태에서 최대 초당 약 80 메시지를 처리하였다. 따라서 주 메모리 DBMS가 디스크 기반 DBMS보다 이동 통신 부가 서비스에 더 적합하다고 볼 수 있다.

  • 번호이동성은 전화 가입자가 전화망 사업자, 지역, 사용서비스의 종류 등을 변경하여도 원래 사용하던 전화번호를 변경하지 않고 계속 사용할 수 있는 서비스를 말하며, 사용자의 이익 및 통신사업자간 공정한 경쟁 등을 위하여 필요한 기능이다. 즉, 이용자가 통신품질의 저하 없이 그 사업자를 변경하여도 전화번호를 바꾸지 않고 동일 한 전화번호를 이용할 수 있는 것을 의미한다. 본 논문에서는 현재 국내에서 서비스되는 번호이동성 서비스 방식에서 SMS(Short Message Service)를 지원하기 위한 이동통신의 번호이동성 처리구조 및 호처리 구조에 대하여 고찰한다.

  • Various mobile contents have been developed with the spread of cellular phones. Above all things, nowadays, an idle application services are developed through competition in mobile phone manufacturers and mobile communication companies. In this paper, we propose that the idle application with text message service is easy to receive and edit. It is complement to function of SMS in use and can be effective information managing method, for example, it arrays messages and uses diary feature to set permissions when it send and receive standardized text message. We expect that proposed service will be adopted without additional cost in wireless units.
