It is of great importance to assess the residual displacement demand in the performance-based seismic design. In this paper, a hybrid deep learning model for predicting the residual displacement spectra under near-fault (NF) ground motions is proposed by combining the long short-term memory network (LSTM) and back-propagation (BP) network. The model is featured by its capacity of predicting the residual displacement spectrum under a given NF ground motion while considering the effects of structural parameters. To construct this model, 315 natural and artificial NF ground motions were employed to compute the residual displacement spectra through elastoplastic time history analysis considering different structural parameters. Based on the resulted dataset with a total of 9,450 samples, the proposed model was finally trained and tested. The results show that the proposed model has a satisfactory accuracy as well as a high efficiency in predicting residual displacement spectra under given NF ground motions while considering the impacts of structural parameters.

AC loss of a superconducting conductor has a strong influence on the economic viability of a superconducting fault current limiter, which offers an attractive means to limit short circuit current in power systems. Therefore, the AC loss characteristics in several fault current limiting elements of a coil type have been investigated experimentally. The test result shows that AC losses measured in the fault current limiting elements depend on arrangement of a voltage lead. The AC loss of a bifilar coil is smallest among the fault current limiting elements of the coil type. The measured AC loss of the bifilar coil is much smaller than that calculated from Norris's elliptical model. However, the loss measured in a meander, which is frequently used in a resistive fault current limiter, agrees well to the theoretical one.
This paper proposes fault detection method using a neural network & fuzzy logic on distribution lines. Fault on distribution lines is simulated using EMTP. The pattern of high impedance fault on pebbles, ground and short-circuit fault were take as the learning model. In this paper proposed fault detection method is evaluated on various conditions. The average values after analyzing fault current by FFT of even odd harmonics and fundamental rms were used for the neural network input. Test results were verified the validity of the proposed method

The need for Fault Current Limiters (FCL) is associated with the continuous growth and interconnection of modem power systems and increase in dispersed generation facilities, which result in progressive increase in the short circuit capacity far beyond their original design capacity. Fault Current Limiters (FCL) clips the fault currents and reduces the electromechanical stresses on the network and the need to handle excessive fault currents. In addition, the reduction of the fault duration Provided by the limiter should increase the power transmission capability and improve the dynamic stability. This paper proposes the model of resistive type superconducting fault current limiter using EMTDC(Electromagnetic transients for DC analysis program). In order to verify the effectiveness of the SFCL, in this paper, the analysis of fault current in a transmission system through the EMTDC based simulation by using the modeled component of a resistive type SFCL is peformed and the detailed results are given.

In this paper, the fault current limiting characteristics of the flux-lock type SFCL (superconducting fault current limiter) using magnetic application circuit were analyzed. The flux-lock type SFCL has the structure to install the magnetic application circuit, which can increase the resistance of HTSC ($high-T_C$ superconducting element comprising) the SFCL. To analyze the fault current limiting effect of the flux-lock type SFCL through the magnetic flux application circuit, the flux-lock type SFCL either with the magnetic flux circuit or without the magnetic flux circuit was constructed and the fault current limiting characteristics of the SFCL were compared each other through the short-circuit tests.

This paper presents a new numerical algorithm for the fault location estimation and arcing fault detection when a single-phase arcing ground fault occurs on a transmission line. The proposed algorithm derived in the spectrum domain is based on the synchronized voltage and current samples measured from the PMUs(Phasor Measurement Units) installed at both ends of the transmission lines. In this paper, the algorithm uses DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) for estimation. The algorithm uses a short data window for real-time transmission line protection. Also, from the calculated arc voltage amplitude, a decision can be made whether the fault is permanent or transient. The proposed algorithm is tested through computer simulation to show its effectiveness.
Recently, the fault current has increased to exceed the rated breaking capacity of protective device due to the growth of the power demand on the power system where is changed into the loop-, mesh-, network grid. To limit fault current, the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is announced with various methods. In many researches, the current limiting effect with the SFCL has been analyzed considering the rated breaking capacity of the CB with one fault condition. However, the power system has various short circuit and operation conditions. In order to select the capacity of the SFCL with reclosing operation and burden of the fault current on the protective device, the characteristics of the power system were investigated. Through the analysis, the evaluation method of the current rate was improved.

We performed unsymmetrical analysis of a single line-to-ground fault in a three-phase system. The current limiting elements were meander type YBCO stripes coated with Au shunt. When the fault occurred, short circuit currents were effectively limited within 1-2 msec after fault instant. The unsymmetrical rate of fault phase was distributed from 6.4 to 1.4 and most of the fault current flowed in the grounding line due to its direct grounding system.

This paper presents a numerical algorithm for fault location estimation which used to data from both end of the transmission line. The proposed algorithm is also based on the synchronized voltage and current phasor measured from the PMUs(Phasor Measurement Units) in the time-domain. This paper has separated from two part of with/without shunt capacitance(short/long distance). Most fault was arc one-ground fault which is 75% over [1]. so most study focused with it. In this paper, the numerical algorithm has calculated to distance for ground fault and line-line fault. In this paper, the algorithm is given with/without shunt capacitance using II parameter line model, simple impedance model and estimated using DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) and the LES(Least Error Squares Method). To verify the validity of the proposed algorithm, the EMTP(Electro- Magnetic Transient Program) and MATLAB did used.

Recent applications of neural networks to power system fault diagnosis have provided positive results and have shown advantages in process speed over conventional approaches. This paper describes the application of neural network to fault detection and classification in distribution lines using the fundamental component, 2-5th harmonics index, even and odd harmonics index, and zero phase current. The Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) is used to obtain fault patterns for the training and testing of neural networks. The proposed fault detection and classification method in distribution lines is obtained by analysing the difference among normal, HIF, ground fault, short circuit fault condition.
