  • Recently, requests for the accurate process planning using modeling and simulation technique are increasing in many engineering fields including shipbuilding industry. In this study, Combined DEVS(Discrete EVent System specification) and DTSS(Discrete Time System Specification) simulation kernel is developed, and an integration strategy of dynamics simulation module and graphics module is also implemented. To evaluate the efficiency and applicability of the simulation kernel and integration strategy, these are applied to the block erection simulation of offshore structures.

과하중에 의한 선박용 알루미늄 합금재의 부식피로 파괴지연에 관한 연구 (Study on the Retardation Effect of Overload on the Corrosion Fatigue Crack Propagation Al-Alloy used for the Shipbuilding)

  • Recently with the rapid development in marine and shipbuliding industries such as marine structures, ship and chemical plants, there occurs much interest in the study of corrosion fatigue characteristics which was closed up an important role in mechanical design. In this study, the 5086 Al-alloy was tested by use of rotary bending fatigue tester. The retardation effect of overload on the corrosion fatigue crack propagation in sea environment was quantitatively studied. 1) Retardation effect of corrosion fatigue crack propagation is most eminent when overload ratio is 1.52, overload magnitude corresponds to about 77% and 55% of yield strength and tensile strength respectively. 2) After overload ratio 1.52 was used, retardation of corrosion fatigue crack growth rate is largely retarded and quasi-threshold stress intensity factor range($\Delta\textrm{K}_{th}$) appears. 3) According to m of experimental constant, retardation effect of corrosion fatigue crack propagation corresponds to about 25% of constant stress amplitude when overload ratio is 1.52. 4) When overload ratio 1.52 was used, retardation parameter (RP) decreases to about 0.43 and corrosion sensitivity (S)decreses to about 2.1.

FPSO 갑판 침입수 현상에 대한 선수부 형상 영향의 실험적 고찰 (Experimental Investigation of the Bow Configuration Influence on the Green Water on FPSO)

  • The green water on deck has many harmful effects on the vessel in rough seas such as damages to hull structures, damages to cargos, increase of the downtime, decrease of the stability, and so on. Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSOs) are operated in a specific location and are normally positioned to meet mostly head or bow waves in order to reduce the roll motions. But this makes FPSOs more vulnerable to green water around the bow region therefore the bow shape should be properly designed to mitigate the green water damage. In this paper, experimental results in regular head waves for three kinds of bow shapes are compared and some design considerations are proposed, with the building a database for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) validation in mind.

선상가열한 선급 DH32 후판 강재의 물성 변화에 관한 연구 (A study on the variation of physical properties of line heated classification DH32 thick plate steel)

  • 본 연구에서는 선박의 곡 외판 구조에 TMCP 강재의 사용 범위 확대 가능성을 연구하고자 노말라이징강 및 TMCP 강 DH32 재질 강재에 선상가열 후 기계적 물성 시험을 실시하여 DNV 선급 및 IACS 규정의 품질 요구 기준에 적합한지 연구하였다. TMCP강재 인장시험에서 요구기준 YS = 315 MPa 대비 385 Mpa로서 약 18% 높게 나타났고, TS = 440 ~ 570 MPa 기준 대비 525 MPa로 요구 기준에 적합하였다. 샤르피 V-노치 $-20^{\circ}C$ 충격시험에서도 요구 기준에 적합하였으며 경도시험에서 평균 T : 216, L : 275로서 규정인 Hv10 = 130 ~320 범위에 만족 하였다.

Incorporating mesh-insensitive structural stress into the fatigue assessment procedure of common structural rules for bulk carriers

  • This study introduces a fatigue assessment procedure using mesh-insensitive structural stress method based on the Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers by considering important factors, such as mean stress and thickness effects. The fatigue assessment result of mesh-insensitive structural stress method have been compared with CSR procedure based on equivalent notch stress at major hot spot points in the area near the ballast hold for a 180 K bulk carrier. The possibility of implementing mesh-insensitive structural stress method in the fatigue assessment procedure for ship structures is discussed.

해양환경 중에서 Cr도금의 부식 특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Corrosion Characteristics of Cr Plating in Marine Environment)

  • 해양환경의 비저항 변화에 따른 모재, Ni도금 및 Cr도금의 분극저항, 부식전류밀도, 부식억제율 및 분극지배기구에 관하여 연구한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1) Cr도금 및 Ni도금의 분극저항은 모재의 분극저항보다 더 높게 나타나고, 이들 재료의 분극저항은 비저항이 감소함에 따라 낮아진다. 2) 비저항이 낮아질수록 Cr도금 및 Ni도금의 부식전류밀도는 모재의 부식전류보다 더 억제됨에 따라 Ni 및 Cr도금의 부식억제율은 더 높게 된다. 3) 해양환경의 비정항에 따른 모재, Ni도금 및 Cr 도금의 부식반응은 음극지배로 판단된다.(이 논문의 결론부분임)

Time-domain analysis of nonlinear motion responses and structural loads on ships and offshore structures: development of WISH programs

  • The present paper introduced a computer program, called WISH, which is based on a time-domain Rankine panel method. The WISH has been developed for practical use to predict the linear and nonlinear ship motion and structural loads in waves. The WISH adopts three different levels of seakeeping analysis: linear, weakly-nonlinear and weak-scatterer approaches. Later, WISH-FLEX has been developed to consider hydroelasticity effects on hull-girder structure. This program can solve the springing and whipping problems by coupling between the hydrodynamic and structural problems. More recently this development has been continued to more diverse problems, including the motion responses of multiple adjacent bodies, the effects of seakeeping in ship maneuvering, and the floating-body motion in finite-depth domain with varying bathymetry. This paper introduces a brief theoretical and numerical background of the WISH package, and some validation results. Also several applications to real ships and offshore structures are shown.

선박용 알루미늄 합금재의 부식피로균열 진전특성과 그 억제에 관한 연구 (Corrosion Fatigue Cracking Propagation Characteristics and its Protection for the AL-Alloys of Shipbuilding)

  • Recently, with the tendency of more lightening, high-strength and high-speed in the marine industries such as marine structures, ships and chemical plants, the use of the aluminium Alloy is rapidly enlarge and there occurs much interest in the study of corrosion fatigue crack characteristics. In this paper, the initiation of surface crack and the propagation characteristics on the base metal and weld zone of 5086-H116 Aluminium Alloy Plate which is one of the Al-Mg serious alloy(A5000serious) used most when building the special vessels, were investigated by the plane bending corrosion fatigue under the environments of marine, air and applying cathodic protection. The effects of various specific resistances on the initiation, propagation behavior of corrosion fatigue crack and corrosion fatigue life in the base metal and heat affected zone were examined and its corrosion sensitivity was quantitatively obtained. The effects of corrosion on the crack depth in relation to the uniform surface crack length were also investigated. Also, the structural, mechanical and electro-chemical characteristics of the metal at the weld zone were inspected to verify the reasons of crack propagation behavior in the corrosion fatigue fracture. In addition, the effect of cathodic protection in the fracture surface of weld zone was examined fractographically by Scanning Electron Microscope(S.E.M.). The main results obtained are as follows; (1) The initial corrosion fatigue crack sensitibity under specific resistance of 25Ω.cm% show 2.22 in the base metal and 19.6 in the HEZ, and the sensitivity decreases as specific resistance increases (2) By removing reinforcement of weldment, the initiation and propagation of corrosion crack in the HAZ are delayed, and corrosion fatigue life increases. (3) As specific resistance decreases, the sensitivity difference of corrosion fatigue life in the base metal and HAZ is more susceptible than that of intial corrosion fatigue crack. (4) Experimental constant, m(Paris' rule) in the marine environment is in the range of about 3.69 to 4.26, and as specific resistance increases, thje magnitude of experimental constant, also increases and the effect by corrosion decreases. (5) Comparing surface crack length with crack depth, the crack depth toward the thickness of specimen in air is more deeply propagated than that in corrosion environment. (6) The propagation particulars of corrosion fatigue crack for HAZ under initial stress intensity factor range of $\Delta$k sub(li) =27.2kgf.mm super(-3/2) and stress ratio of R=0 shows the retardative phenomenon of crack propagation by the plastic deformation at crack tip. (7) Number of stress cycles to corrosion fatigue crack initiation of the base metal and the welding heat affected zone are delayed by the cathodic protection under the natural sea water. The cathodic protection effect for corrosion fatigue crack initiation is eminent when the protection potential is -1100 mV(SCE). (8) When the protection potential E=-1100 mV(SCE), the corrosion fatigue crack propagation of welding heat affected zone is more rapid than that of the case without protection, because of the microfissure caused by welding heat cycle.

  • Most works of the large vertical ceiling structures have been performed by human manually. These works require much more operation costs, labors and times, etc. Beside most people avoid this works because of it's characteristic such as danger, dirty and difficulty. So necessity of automation for these works has been rising. This automation needs a wall climbing mobile vehicle because of the movement of platform large workspace. In this study, we aim at develop the wheel which can be used for vertical wall-climbing mobile robot using electromagnet wheel. The wheel proposed can be available for several working processes on structures which consist magnetic substance.

기포층을 갖는 판 구조물의 음향 방사 효율에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical analysis of acoustic radiation efficiency of plate structures with air bubble layers)

  • 수중 소음 공해는 해양 환경에 막대한 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는 기포층을 갖는 구조물의 음향 방사 효율을 추정하기 위한 간이 해석법을 제안하였다. 선행 연구 결과를 바탕으로 공기층에 의한 삽입 손실은 감쇠량과 동등하다고 가정하고, 기포층에 의한 삽입 손실은 수치해석 결과의 후처리 기법을 사용하여 계산되었다. 제안된 방법의 검증을 위해 판 구조물에 대한 음향-구조 완전 연성 해석을 수행하였다. 음향-구조 완전 연성 해석은 상용 유한 요소 프로그램 COMSOL Multiphysics를 사용하여 수행되었으며, 기포층의 음향 특성은 Commander 및 Prosperetti 이론을 사용하여 구현하였다. 음향 방사 효율 비교를 통해 간이 해석법과 완전 연성 해석 결과의 경향이 유사함을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 기포층을 갖는 쐐기 구조물의 방사 효율 메커니즘을 예측할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
