Plate that have cutout inner bottom and girder and floor etc. in hull construction absence is used much, and this is strength in case must be situated, but establish in region that high stress interacts sometimes fatally in region that there is no big problem usually by purpose of weight reduction, a person and change of freight, piping etc.. Because cutout's existence gnaws in this place, and, elastic buckling strength by load causes large effect in ultimate strength. Therefore, perforated plate elastic buckling strength and ultimate strength is one of important design criteria which must examine when decide structural elements size at early structure design step of ship. Therefore, and, reasonable elastic buckling strength about perforated plate need design ultimate strength. Calculated ultimated strength change several aspect ratioes and cutout's dimension, and thickness in this investigation. Used program applied ANSYS F.E.A code based on finite element method.

Pyramid type three roll bending machines are widely used in roll-bending process to produce singly curved plate. In forming singly curved plate, controlling the vertical displacement of the center roller is most important to acquire the shape required and automation system of the process. In this paper roller bending process is modeled as an elastic-plastic phenomenon and analyzed using beam theory and finite element method. In finite element analysis the workpiece is modeled by using beam elements and plane strain elements respectively. Through the analyses vertical center roller displacement is obtained to get constant curvature distribution along arc length. The relationship between center roller displacement and curvature in steady state as well as residual stress and strain along plate thickness direction are calculated through finite element analysis.

The Newman-Raju formula and contour integral-based finite element analyses(FEAs) have been widely used to assess crack growth rates and residual lives at crack locations in ships or offshore structures, but the Newman-Raju formula is known to be less accurate for the complicated weld details and the conventional FEA-based contour integral approach needs concentrated efforts to construct FEA models. Recently, an extended finite element method(XFEM) has been proposed to reduce those modeling efforts with reliable accuracy. Stress intensity factors(SIFs) from the approaches such as the Newman-Raju formula, conventional FEA-based J-integral, and XFEM-based J-integral were compared for an infinitely long plate with a propagating elliptic crack. It was concluded that the XFEM approach was far reliable in terms of prediction ability of SIFs. Assuming a 25 year-aged coast guard patrol ship had the prescribed cracks at the bracket toes attached to longitudinal stiffeners in way of deck and bottom, SIFs were derived based on the three approaches. To obtain axial tension loads acting on the longitudinal stiffeners, long term hull girder bending moments were assumed to obey Weibull distribution of which two parameters were decided from a reference (DNV, 2014). For the complicated weld details, it was concluded that the XFEM approach could cost-effectively and accurately estimate the crack growth rates and residual lives of ship structures.

3-D templates are produced to evaluate completeness of the shell plates during the forming process, which is an essential step for the ship production. They are mostly produced in advance during the detail/production design stage, but occasionally they are requested by the shell plate forming department, because it is impossible to predict accurately the necessities of them at the design stage. This results in a huge loss of man-hour and a bottleneck. In order to resolve this issue while reducing the dependence on other department, the process of manufacturing the 3-D templates needs to be automated. Therefore, this study proposes an automatic system that calculates the manufacturing information of the 3-D templates with only geometric information of the shell plates. The system considers the thickness and the cutting method of the parts of the 3-D templates and some options are provided to reflect the intention of the worker.

The installation methods of diesel engines in ships would be largely classified into two groups : one is the direct mounting system fixing engine directly into double bottom of the hull, and the other is the resilient mounting system having vibration absorbers between engine and ship body such as rubber plate to prevent shocks or vibration transmission. The direct mounting system is generally used for large-sized low speed diesel engines, because the resilient mounting system has difficulties in reducing the natural frequency of engine itself under normal speed. On the contrary, the resilient mounting system is often used for medium or high speed engines for marine propulsion and generator that have light weight and high revolution speed. Recently, it is even applied to engines having relatively low speed(300-400rpm) for fishing boats. Although many researches for the resilient mounting system have been carried out, many problems in applying these results directly to marine vessels because most of these have been used for automobiles. Up to now we have had to depend on the professional foreign company in design and the supply of parts for the resilient mounting system of marinediesel engines utterly. In preseut study, the exciting forces of engines effecting to resilient mounting were examined, and patterns of vibration and evaluation procedure for force transmission from resilient mounting to the body of hull were established. Also, these results were applied to the analysis of free and forced vibration for the rubber-type resilient mounting systems of marine diesel engines. Besides, after changing the various design parameters, such as locations, angles, dynamic characteristics and the number of resilient mountings, the influences on resilient mounting system were also examined.

The ship plating is generally subjected to combined in-plane load and lateral pressure loads. In-plane loads include axial load and edge shear, which are mainly induced by overall hull girder bending and torsion of the vessel. Lateral pressure is due to water pressure and cargo. These load components are not always applied simultaneously, but more than one can normally exist and interact Hence, for more rational and safe design of ship structures, it is of crucial importance to better understand the interaction relationship of the buckling and ultimate strength for ship plating under combined loads. Actual ship plates are subjected to relatively small water pressure except for the impact load due to slamming and panting etc. The present paper describes an accurate and fast procedure for analyzing the elastic-plastic large deflection behavior up to the ultimate limit state of ship plates under combined loads. In this paper, the ultimate strength characteristics of plates under axial compressive loads and lateral pressure loads are investigated through ANSYS elastic-plastic large deflection finite element analysis with varying lateral pressure load level.

Various scanning systems have been studied in many industrial areas to acquire a range data or to reconstruct an explicit 3D model. Currently optical technology has been used widely by virtue of noncontactness and high-accuracy. In this paper, we describe a 3D laser scanning system developped to reconstruct the 3D surface of a large-scale object such as a curved-plate of ship-hull. Our scanning system comprises of 4ch-parallel laser vision modules using a triangulation technique. For multi laser vision, calibration method based on least square technique is applied. In global scanning, an effective method without solving difficulty of matching problem among the scanning results of each camera is presented. Also minimal image processing algorithm and robot-based calibration technique are applied. A prototype had been implemented for testing.
