Recently, well-known SAR imaging algorithms have been developed to form the focused SAR images for stationary targets. In general, the conventional methods exploit the range variation only defined by the motion of radar platform and SAR geometry. However, for SAR imaging of ground moving targets, the motion of the targets induces an additional range shift, yielding the blurred SAR images. To overcome the problem, in this paper we propose an effective motion compensation algorithm operated under a multi-channel SAR, named along-track interferometry(ATI) and phase unwrapping to directly estimate the motion parameters of the targets. In simulations, 50 Monte-Carlo simulation results show the effectiveness of the algorithm in the presence of noise.
In this paper, we propose Modified Multi CAMShift Algorithm based on Kalman filter and Weighted Search Windows(KWMCAMShift) that extracts skin color area and tracks several human body parts for real-time human tracking system. We propose modified CAMShift algorithm that generates background model, extracts skin area of hands and head, and tracks the body parts. Kalman filter stabilizes tracking search window of skin area due to changing skin area in consecutive frames. Each occlusion areas is avoided by using weighted window of non-search areas and main-search area. And shadows are eliminated from background model and intensity of shadow. The proposed KWMCAMShift algorithm can estimate human pose in real-time and achieves 96.82% accuracy even in the case of occlusions.
In this paper, we focus on recognition of speed-limit signs among a few types of traffic signs because speed-limit sign is closely related to safe driving of drivers. Although histogram of oriented gradient (HOG) and local binary patterns (LBP) are representative features for object recognition, these features have a weakness with respect to rotation, in that it does not consider the rotation of the target object when generating patterns. Therefore, this paper propose the fast rotation-invariant binary patterns (FRIBP) algorithm to generate a binary pattern that is robust against rotation. The proposed FRIBP algorithm deletes an unused layer of the histogram, and eliminates the shift and comparison operations in order to quickly extract the desired feature. The proposed FRIBP algorithm is successfully applied to German Traffic Sign Recognition Benchmark (GTSRB) datasets, and the results show that the recognition capabilities of the proposed method are similar to those of other methods. Moreover, its recognition speed is considerably enhanced than related works as approximately 0.47second for 12,630 test data.
Direction of arrival (DoA) estimation is a scheme of estimating the directions of targets by analyzing signals generated or reflected from the targets and is used in various fields. Artificial neural networks (ANN) is a field of machine learning that mimics the neural network of living organisms. They show good performance in pattern recognition. Although researches has been using ANNs to estimate the DoAs, there are limitationsin dealing with variations of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the target signals. In this paper, we propose a three-stage ANN algorithm for DoA estimation. The proposed algorithm can minimize the performance reduction by applying the model trained in a single SNR environment to various environments through a 'noise reduction process'. Furthermore, the scheme reduces the difficulty in learning and maintains efficiency in estimation, by employing a process of DoA shift. We compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) and the performances of existing subspace-based algorithms and show that the proposed scheme exhibits better performance than other schemes in some severe environments such as low SNR environments or situations in which targets are located very close to each other.
In this paper, we propose an efficient Viterbi processor using Joint Viterbi detection and decoding (JVDD) algorithm for a for bluetooth low energy (BLE) system. Since the convolutional coded Gaussian minimum-shift keying (GMSK) signal is specified in the BLE 5.0 standard, two Viterbi processors are needed for detection and decoding. However, the proposed JVDD scheme uses only one Viterbi processor by modifying the branch metric with inter-symbol interference information from GMSK modulation; therefore, the hardware complexity can be significantly reduced without performance degradation. Low-latency and low-complexity hardware architecture for the proposed JVDD algorithm was proposed, which makes Viterbi decoding completed within one clock cycle. Viterbi Processor RTL synthesis results on a GF55nm process show that the gate count is 12K and the memory unit and the initial latency is reduced by 33% compared to the modified state exchange (MSE).

In the initial stage of the communications between a base station and a satellite transponder, the base station transmits the frequency-sweeping un-modulated up-link carrier within a certain frequency range to acquire the doppler frequency shift and signal power between the base station and the satellite in orbital flight. The satellite transponder acquires and tracks the carrier in order to initialize the communication. To control such initialization process, the satellite receiver should analyze the input carrier signal in various ways. This paper presents an SNR estimation algorithm to control the initialization process. The proposed algorithm converts the input signal into the baseband polar coordinate representation and estimates the SNR via the statistics of the angular signal components as well as the status parameters to control the receiver. The Monte-Carlo simulations shows the validity of the estimation proposed.

A finger-gesture game controller using the single camera is implemented in this paper, which is based on the recognition of the number of fingers and the index finger moving direction. Proposed method uses the CAMShift algorithm to trace the end-point of index finger effectively. The number of finger is recognized by using a double circle tracing method. Then, HSI color mode transformation is performed for the CAMShift algorithm, and YCbCr color model is used in the double circle tracing method. Also, all processing tasks are implemented by using the Intel OpenCV library and C++ language. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we developed a shooting game simulator and validated the proposed method. The proposed method showed the average recognition ratio of more than 90% for each of the game command-mode.

In this paper, we proposed a new algorithm of pulse generation and detection for the UWB multimedia communication system. The existing UWB systems using Gaussian pulse have some difficulties to cope with bandwidth limitation and frequency transition. In this paper, we introduce a new pulse generation method, which is able to control the bandwidth and center frequency that applies to the frequency modulation method, thus the proposed algorithm could improve the detection performance of receiving. And we proposed the multi channel transmission algorithm which transmits 1 channel synthesized at same time using the wavelet synthesis filter. Because of wavelet filter's perfect reconstruction property, the BER(Bit Error Rate) of transmission data is not changed by the number of accessed user. BER is changed only the property of channel transmission. By the results of simulation, when shift SNR from 2dB to 8dB on AWGN channel, we confirmed that the proposed algerian has $3.9063{\times}10^{-4}$ BER at 4dB SNR(AWGN channel).
In this study, a new algorithm for canceling MRI artifact due to translational motion in image plane is described. Unlike the conventional iterative phase retrieval algorithm, in which there is no guarantee for the convergence, a direct method for estimating the motion is presented. In previous approaches, the motions in the x(read out) direction and the y(phase encoding) direction are estimated simultaneously. However, the features of x and y directional motions are different from each other. By analyzing their features, each x and y directional motion is canceled by different algorithms in two steps. First, it is noticed that the x directional motion corresponds to a shift of the x directional spectrum of the MRI signal, and the non-zero area of the spectrum just corresponds to the projected area of the density function on the x-axis. So the motion is estimated by tracing the edges between non-zero area and zero area of the spectrum, and the x directional motion is canceled by shifting the spectrum in inverse direction. Next, the y directional motion is canceled by using a new constraint condition, with which the motion component and the true image component can be separated. This algorithm is shown to be effective by using a phantom image with simulated motion.

In this paper, we have proposed a clock recovery algorithm of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing/Quadrature Phase Shift Keying Modulation-Digital Microwave Radio(OFDM/QPSK-DMR) system using Band Limited-Pulse Shaping Filter(BL-PSF) and compared the clock phase error variance of OFDM/QPSK-DMR system with that of single carrier DMR system. The OFDM/QPSK-DMR system using windowing method requires training sequence or Cyclic Prefix (CP) to synchronize the clock phase of received signal. But transmit efficient is increased in our proposed DMR system because of no using redundant data such as training sequence or CP. The proposed clock recovery algorithm is simply realized in the OFDM/QPSK-DMR system using BL-PSF. The simulation results confirm that the proposed clock recovery algorithm has the same clock phase error variance performance in a single carrier DR system under Additive White Gaussian Noise(AWGN) environment.
