사각 채널에 설치된 테이프가 열전달과 마찰계수에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Tape on Heat Transfer and Friction Factor in a Square Channel)

  • Heat transfer distributions and friction factors in square channels (3.5 ${\times}$ 3.5 cm) with twisted tape inserts and with twisted tape inserts plus interrupted ribs are respectively investigated. Tests are performed for Reynolds numbers ranging from 8,900 to 29,000. The rib height-to-channel hydraulic diameter, e/Dh, is kept at 0.057 and test section length-to-hydraulic diameter, L/Dh is 30. The twisted tape is 0.1 mm thick carbon steel sheet with diameter of 3.3cm, length of 90cm, and 2.5 turns. The square ribs are arranged to follow the trace of the twisted tape and along the flow direction defined as axial interrupted ribs. Each wall of the square channel is composed of isolated aluminum sections. The following conclusions from the experimental study were drawn as: 1) In the 4 heating wall channel with twisted tape inserts, Nusselt number based on bottom wall temperature is enhanced by 1.2 - 1.6 times if adding the axial interrupted ribs on the bottom wall only. 2) The twisted tape with interrupted ribs under the two-sided heating condition produces the highest heat transfer performance. 3) Friction factor data obtained for the square channel with twisted tape inserts plus axial interrupted ribs are less than those in the past publications for circular tubes with axial interrupted ribs and twisted tape inserts.

이종 알루미늄 합금 KS5J32/AA6K31 겹치기 마찰교반 접합부의 인장성질에 미치는 접합조건의 영향 (Effect of Welding Condition on Tensile Properties of Friction Stir Lap Joint of Dissimilar Al Alloy, KS5J32/AA6K31)

  • The focus of this investigation is to evaluate the effect of joining parameter on the microstructure and mechanical properties of welds produced by friction stir lap welding. The dissimilar Al alloys, KS5J32 and AA6K31, were joined by friction stir lap welding technique under several welding conditions, and KS5J32 alloy was placed on the top of AA6K31 alloy. The tool rotation speeds were 1000, 1250, and 1500rpm, and the welding speeds were 100, 300, 500, 700mm/min, respectively. The results showed that two shapes of nugget, such as onion ring and irregular vortex type, were observed with various revolutionary pitch. In all welding conditions, fracture occurred at the soften region of bottom sheet(AA6K31) and the strengths were 64~78% of those of base metal. Fractured positions were classified into three types : HAZ, triple point, void depending on the revolutionary pitch. The actual thickness of specimen at the fractured location was decreased with decreasing heat input. A linear relationship exists between the effective thickness of fractured position and peak load.

수-윤활용 플라스틱 베어링 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of Water-lubricated Plastic Bearings)

  • This paper presents the fabrication process of water-lubricated plastic bearings. Plastic bearings require good mechanical properties and tribological properties as well as elasticity and shock resistance, especially when lubricated in dirty water conditions. In this study, sleeve-type plastic bearings are produced by winding a prepreg sheet, which primary contains nitrile rubber (NBR)-modified epoxy, self-lubricating fillers, and various types of lattice-structured reinforcing fibers such as carbon, Aramid, and polyethylene terephthalate. A thermosetting epoxy is chemically modified with NBR to impart elasticity and low-friction characteristics in water conditions. Experimental investigations are conducted to examine the mechanical and tribological characteristics of the developed bearing materials, and the results are compared with the characteristics of a commercial plastic bearing (Thordon SXL), well known as a water-lubricated bearing. A Thordon bearing (mainly composed of polyurethane) exhibits an extremely low load-bearing capacity and is thus only suitable for medium loading (1~10MPa). The tribological characteristics of the test materials are evaluated through Falex block-on-ring (LFW-1) friction and wear tests. The results indicate that friction exhibited by the carbon-fiber-reinforced NBR-10wt.%-modified epoxy composite material, incorporated with the addition of 20wt.% UHMWPE and 6wt.% paraffin wax, is lower than that of the Thorden bearings, whereas its wear resistance surpass that of Thorden ones. Because of these features, the load carrying capacity of the fabricated composite (>10MPa) is higher than that of the Thorden bearings. These results confirm the applicability of water-lubricated plastic bearing materials developed in this study.

스크래치 방지를 위한 테이퍼 롤링형 판재 누름키의 개발 (Development of Tapered Rolling Type Strip Pressure Key for the Prevention of Scratch)

  • 본 논문은 판재 성형을 위한 제관 라인의 판재 이송부에 장착되는 판재 누름키의 설계 개선에 관한 연구이다. 기존의 블록형 누름키가 판재의 종 방향 및 횡 방향 이송 과정에서 깊은 스크래치가 유발되는 것을 방지하기 위해 테이퍼진 롤러가 누름키 내부에 장착되어 가이드하도록 하는 테이퍼 롤러 누름키를 개발하였다. 이를 통해 판재의 종 방향 이송시 테이퍼 형상의 효과로 접촉부의 압력 스파이크를 저감시켜 판재의 스크래치 발생을 최소화하고 횡방향 이송시 미끄럼 접촉이 아닌 구름 접촉으로 유도하여 표면 스크래치를 원천적으로 방지할 수 있음을 스크래치 실험을 통해 그 효과를 확인하였다.

1050 Al판재의 핀 마찰 교반용접에 의한 실험적 연구 (Weldability and properties of lap joints by pin FSW with 1050 Al sheet)

  • The properties and weldability of lap joints by PFSW with 1050 Al sheet was investigated according to tool shape. dimension and welding condition. Tensile shear test was carried out for lap jointed specimen, and the hardness in the joint regions was examined. Moreover interfacial joining length, metallograph and failure location of the lap-jointed cross section were discussed. Two tool types were a simple cylindrical type and a notched cylindrical type. Under joining conditions such as plunging depth of 2.2mm. rotating speed of 1600rpm and dwelling time of 3s, the tensile shear strength of lap-jointed specimen by the notched type tool was superior to that by simple cylindrical type tool. The maximum tensile shear load of lap jointed specimen was 5807N. Optimal dimensions of the notched type tool were as follows : diameters of the shoulder and pin were $18{\phi}mm$ and $10{\phi}mm$, and pin length was 2.2mm.

  • The stack, the core unit of the MCFC system, is composed of the three main parts which are the electrodes, the matrix keeping the electrolyte and the separator. Among these, the separator made of low carbon steel is manufactured by some sheet metal forming processes. The flatness of flange of the mask plate of the separator is crucial not only to enhance the stack performance but also to reduce the production cost. This study has focused on the enhancement of flatness of the mask plate flange by controlling some process parameters like the punch and die comer radii, the blank holding force, the friction coefficient and so on. The springback phenomenon occurring in the flange drawing process has been studied first using the finite element method (FEM) in order to understand what causes the springback. The distribution pattern of local longitudinal stress in the flanged part has been revealed very important in predicting the final shape of the flange. This fact has been backed up by the experimental results carried out with the developed test dies.

  • Magnesium alloys are becoming important material for light weight car body, due to their low specific density but high specific strength. However they have a poor weldability, caused high oxidization tendency and low vapor temperature. In this study, the welding performance of magnesium alloys was investigated for automobile application. The materials were rolled magnesium alloy sheet contains Al and Zn such as AZ3l , AZ6l and AZ9l. Three types of welding process were studied, that were GTAW, Laser beam welding and FSW. To evaluate the weldability, we examined the appearance of welding bead. Also we checked bead shape and internal defects such as crack and porosity on cross section of welding bead. The mechanical property was measured for welded specimen by tensile test. For determination of the strength change by welding process, the hardness profile across the welding center was measured. For the results, the tensile properties of welded specimen were decreased obviously on all welding process. For the fusion welding process such as GTAW and laser beam welding, the surface of the welding bead was covered with oxidized magnesium dust but it was removed by simple cleaning work as wipe-out with tissue. Also under cut, that caused vaporization of base metal was occurred. for the friction stir welding, there was no oxidation, under-cut or internal defects. However it had poor weld performance, the reason was cleavage fracture occurred at plastic deformation zone. For welding of magnesium alloy, the laser beam welding process was recommended.

Ti6Al4V 판재의 초소성 성형공정에서 Inconel 600 금형 마모 평가 (Evaluation of Wear in Inconel 600 Tools in Superplastic Forming of Ti6Al4V Sheet)

  • In this study, the friction and wear characteristics of Inconel 600 in the superplastic forming process of Ti6Al4V were evaluated through pin-on-disc tests. To achieve an efficient and systematic experimental design, the Taguchi method was employed. The wear track of the Inconel 600 pin showed scratches in the sliding contact direction, confirming that the wear mechanism is abrasive wear. Through sensitivity analysis such as ANOVA and Main effects, it was confirmed that both normal force and sliding distance have a significant impact on the wear. Changes in sliding velocity and distance did not affect the friction coefficient, which remained relatively constant at approximately 0.380. The wear prediction model for Inconel 600 in the superplastic forming of Ti6Al4V was constructed, which can be utilized as a guideline for the prediction and management of tool wear.

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)는 앵커의 경사도(傾斜度)가 널말뚝의 거동(擧動)에 미치는 영향(影響)을 모형실험(模型實驗)의 결과(結果)로부터 분석(分析)한 것이다. 앵커 경사(傾斜)의 증가(增加)는 널말둑의 수직(垂直) 수평변위(水平變位), 앵커의 하중손실(荷重損失) 및 유지(維持)된 모래의 침하량(沈下量)에 크게 영향(影響)을 미치지만, 휨 모멘트의 크기에는 영향(影響)이 적은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 널말뚝의 수직침하(垂直沈下)에 대한 부마찰력(負摩擦力)은 말뚝 길이의 0.71~0.80배(倍)인 굴착(掘鑿) 깊이에서의 강복점(降伏點)을 가진다. 굴착(掘鑿)으로 인한 토압(土壓) 재분포(再分布)는 soil arching 현상을 고려해야 하고, 토압(土壓)이 0인 지점(支點)은 기존의 자유단지설계방법(自由端支設計方法)에 의한 위치(位置)보다 약 20% 상부(上部)에 있고, 활동면(滑動面)과 최대주응력면(最大主應力面)이 이루는 각(角) $45^{\circ}+{\phi}/2$ 보다 크다는 것을 확인하였다.

타원용기 성형에서 블랭크 형상에 따른 펀치하중 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Punch Load According to Blank Shape in Elliptical Cup Forming)

  • Deep drawing process, one of sheet metal forming methods, is very useful in the industrial field because of its efficiency The deep drawing is affected by many process variables, such as blank shapes, shape radii of the punch and die, formability of materials and so on. Especially, blank shape is very important formability factor. In this study, in order to investigate the effects of blank shape, we suggested three kinds of blank shapes and examined friction test about three conditions. We measured punch load distribution according to punch stroke under the conditions of each punch and die shape radii and observed punch load of elliptical cup forming.
