This paper discussed and analyzed the interfacial stress distribution characteristic of adjacent cracks in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) plate strengthened concrete slabs. One un-strengthened concrete test beam and four CFRP plate-strengthened concrete test beams were designed to carry out four-point flexural tests. The test data shows that the interfacial shear stress between the interface of CFRP plate and concrete can effectively reduce the crack shrinkage of the tensile concrete and reduces the width of crack. The maximum main crack flexural height in pure bending section of the strengthened specimen is smaller than that of the un-strengthened specimen, the CFRP plate improves the rigidity of specimens without brittle failure. The average ultimate bearing capacity of the CFRP-strengthened specimens was increased by 64.3% compared to that without CFRP-strengthen. This indicites that CFRP enhancement measures can effectively improve the ultimate bearing capacity and delay the occurrence of debonding damage. Based on the derivation of mechanical analysis model, the calculation formula of interfacial shear stress between adjacent cracks is proposed. The distributions characteristics of interfacial shear stress between certain crack widths were given. In the intermediate cracking region of pure bending sections, the length of the interfacial softening near the mid-span cracking position gradually increases as the load increases. The CFRP-concrete interface debonding capacity with the larger adjacent crack spacing is lower than that with the smaller adjacent crack spacing. The theoretical calculation results of interfacial bonding shear stress between adjacent cracks have good agreement with the experimental results. The interfacial debonding failure between adjacent cracks in the intermediate cracking region was mainly caused by the root of the main crack. The larger the spacing between adjacent cracks exists, the easier the interfacial debonding failure occurs.
In this study, the finite element method was used to analyze the distribution of the adhesive shear stresses in the single-lap bonded joint of two plates 2024-T3 aluminum with and without defects. The effects of the adhesive properties (shear modulus, the thickness and the length of the adhesive were highlighted. The results prove that the shear stresses are located on the free edges of the adhesively bonding region, and reach maximum values near the defect, because the concentration of high stress occurs near this area.
In this study, effects due to differences of creep and shrinkage which is caused by material differences such as concrete characteristic and age in an asymmetric PSC box girder were evaluated. For this purpose the prestress distribution, creep and shrinkage were analyzed with the FE analysis program, LUSAS 14.3. As a result of the prestress, the stress distribution was stable. In case of the analysis result which was conducted with 1,000 days response time, the shear stress between PC section and CIP section is satisfied with design shear strength.

In the present steady the flow characteristics of turbulent steady flows were experimentally investigated in the exit region of join stream. The experimental was carry out to measure the velocity profiles of air in a square duct. For the measurement of velocity profiles, a hot-wire anemometer was used. The experimental results shows that the velocity profiles do not change behind the fully developed flow region , which is defined as dimensionless axial direction x/Dh=50. In addition, the gradient of shear stress distribution became stable as the flow reached progress downstream.

This study presents experimental and numerical results of prestressed concrete composite beams with different casting and stressing sequence. The beams were tested under three-point bending and it was found that prestressed concrete composite beams could not achieve monolith behavior due to interface slippage between two layers. The initial stress distribution due to different construction sequence has little effect on the maximum load of composite beams. The multi-step FE analyses could simulate different casting and stressing sequence thus correctly capturing the initial stress distribution induced by staged construction. Three contact algorithms were considered for interaction between concrete layers in the FE models namely tie constraint, cohesive contact and surface-to-surface contact. It was found that both cohesive contact and surface-to-surface contact could simulate the interface slip even though each algorithm considers different shear transfer mechanism. The use of surface-to-surface contact for beams with more than 2 layers of concrete is not recommended as it underestimates the maximum load in this study.
As few multi-tower single-box multi-cell cable-stayed bridges with corrugated steel webs have been built, analysis is mostly achieved by combining single-girder model, beam grillage model and solid model in support of the design. However, such analysis methods usually suffer from major limitations in terms of the engineering applications: single-girder model fails to account for spatial effect such as shear lag effect of the box girder and the relevant effective girder width and eccentric load coefficient; owing to the approximation in the principle equivalence, the plane grillage model cannot accurately capture shear stress distribution and local stress state in both top and bottom flange of composite box girder; and solid model is difficult to be practically combined with the overall calculation. The usual effective width method fails to provide a uniform and accurate "effective length" (and the codes fail to provide a unified design approach at those circumstance) considering different shear lag effects resulting from dead load, prestress and cable tension in the construction. Therefore, a novel spatial grid model has been developed to account for shear lag effect. The theoretical principle of the proposed spatial grid model has been elaborated along with the relevant illustrations of modeling parameters of composite box girder with corrugated steel webs. Then typical transverse and longitudinal shear lag coefficient distribution pattern at the side-span and mid-span key cross sections have been analyzed and summarized to provide reference for similar bridges. The effectiveness and accuracy of spatial grid analysis methods has been finally validated through a practical cable-stayed bridge.
Connections are the most important regions in a structural system especially for buildings in seismic zones. In R.C. structures due to large dimensions of members and lack of cognition of the stress distribution in a connection, reaching a comprehensive understanding of the connection behaviors becomes more complicated. The shear wall-to-floor slab connections in lateral load resisting systems have a potential weakness in transferring loads from slabs to shear walls which might change the path of load transformation to shear walls. This paper tries to investigate the effects of seismic load combinations on the behavior of slabs at their connection zones with the shear walls. These connection zones naturally are the most critical regions of the slabs in RC buildings. The investigation carried on in a simulated environment by considering three different structures with different shear wall layout. The final results of our study reveal that layout of shear walls in a building significantly affects the magnification of forces developed at the shear wall-floor slab connections.
The functionally graded materials (FGM) used in plates contain probably a porosity volume fraction which needs taking into account this aspect of imperfection in the mechanical bahavior of such structures. The present work aims to study the effect of the distribution forms of porosity on the bending of simply supported FG plate reposed on the Winkler-Pasternak foundation. A refined theory of shear deformation is developed to study the effect of the distribution shape of porosity on static behavior of FG plates. It was found that the distribution form of porosity significantly influence the mechanical behavior of FG plates, in terms of deflection, normal and shear stress. It can be concluded that the proposed theory is simple and precise for the resolution of the behavior of flexural FGM plates resting on elastic foundations while taking into account the shape of distribution of the porosity.

Equilibrium equations of a porous FG plate resting on Winkler-Pasternak foundations with various boundary conditions are derived using a new refined shear deformation theory. Different types of porosity distribution rate are considered. Governing equations are obtained including the plate-foundation interaction. This new model meets the nullity of the transverse shear stress at the upper and lower surfaces of the plate. The novel rule of mixture is proposed to describe and approximate material properties of the FG plates with different distribution case of porosity. The validity of this theory is studied by comparing some of the present results with other higher-order theories reported in the literature. Effects of variation of porosity distribution rate, boundary conditions, foundation parameter, power law index, plate aspect ratio, side-to-thickness ratio on the deflections and stresses are all discussed.

This study present the stressdistribution of circular column-box beam connection in steel piers. Experiments were carried out for hollow and concrete filled connections, depending on the joint angle. To determine vertical and shear stress distribution, this study examined the equivalent web depth dc' that is mainly used in existing design equation. Lidewise, as additional equivalent web depth was introduced. Stress values that were calculated using equivalent wev depth were also compared with the test stress value. Results showed that stresses of hollow and filled connections have great differences. However, dc' has a limitation for some joint angles. Likewise, stress of filled connection was less than that of the hollow connection. The test value of filled connection was also compared with design equations that were introduced from the hollow connection.
