PTC 서미스터를 이용한 유속계의 성능향상에 관한 연구 (Research on Improvement of Performance of Anemometer Using PTC Thermistor)

  • An anemometer employing the bulk PTC thermistor as the sensing element is investigated in this study. The numerical and experimental works are carried out to improve the sensitivity problem of the element by focusing fluid dynamics point of view. The typical shape of the sensing element has been used as a rectangular type, but this shape has a sensitivity problem because of flow separations on the sharp edge when the flow direction is different from that of the sensing element. In order to reduce the reading error, the installer has to be very careful about the flow direction. The reading error fluctuation by time as well as the sensitivity problem can be improved considerably through this study. It can be concluded that the small change of the sensor shape can improve the performance of the flow sensor.

  • Shape optimization of a transonic axial compressor rotor operating at the design flow condition has been performed using response surface method and three-dimensional Navier-Stokes analysis. Three design variables of blade sweep. lean and skew are introduced to optimize the three-dimensional stacking line of the rotor blade. The object function of the shape optimization is selected as an adiabatic efficiency. Throughout the shape optimization of the rotor. the adiabatic efficiency is increased by reducing the tub comer and tip losses. Separation line due to the interference between a passage shock and surface boundary layer on the blade suction surface is moved downstream for the optimized blade compared to the reference one.

Wavy 형상 적용에 따른 대 각도에서의 러더 성능에 대한 수치해석 연구 (A Numerical Performance Study on Rudder with Wavy Configuration at High Angles of Attack)

  • This study deals with numerically comparing performance according to rudder shape called 'Twisted rudder and Wavy twisted rudder'. In comparison with conventional rudder, rudder with wavy shape has showed a better performance at high angles of attack($30^{\circ}{\sim}40^{\circ}$) due to delaying stall. But most of study concerned with wavy shape had been performed in uniform flow condition. In order to identify the characteristics behind a rotating propeller, the present study numerically carries out an analysis of resistance and self-propulsion for KCS with twisted rudder and wavy twisted rudder. The turbulence closure model, Realizable $k-{\epsilon}$, is employed to simulate three-dimensional unsteady incompressible viscous turbulent and separation flow around the rudder. The simulation of self-propulsion analysis is performed in two step, because of finding optimization case of wavy shape. The first step presents there are little difference between twisted rudder and case of H_0.65 wavy twisted rudder in delivered power. So two kind of rudders are employed from first step to compare lift-to-drag ratio and torque at high angles of attack. Consequently, the wavy twisted rudder is presented as a possible way of delaying stall, allowing a rudder to have a better performance containing superior lift-to-drag ratio and torque than twisted rudder at high angles of attack. Also, as we indicate the flow visualization, check the quantity of separation flow around the rudder.

인공위성용 비폭발식 분리장치 기술동향 (Non-Explosive Actuator Technology for Satellite Applications)

  • 위성이 궤도에서 성공적인 임무수행을 하기 위해서는 위성시스템에 손상이 없도록 발사체로부터 분리되어야 하며 태양전지판과 안테나와 같은 부속장치의 전개를 성공적으로 수행하여야 한다. 이를 위해 분리장치가 사용되며, 특히 분리 시의 충격(500g이하) 및 오염이 적은 비폭발식 분리장치가 널리 쓰이고 있다. 본 논문에서는 우주산업에서 사용되고 있는 비폭발식 분리장치의 종류 및 기술현황에 대해 정리하였으며, 국내연구동향에 대해 살펴보았다.

개수로 분류흐름에서의 특성분석 (Analysis of Characteristics for a Dividing Flow in Open Channels)

  • 개수로에서 발생하게 되는 분류흐름에는 많은 특성들이 나타나게 된다. 특히, 지류부의 내측 벽면을 따라서 이차류 흐름이 나타나 토사나 오염물 등의 퇴적물 침전을 일으키는 분리구역이 발생하게 된다. 분류흐름에서 발생하는 분리구역의 특성을 연구하기 위해 상류흐름에서의 자유수면 및 유속을 계산할 수 있는 이차원 천수방정식 수치모델인 RMA2를 이용하였다. 수치모의 결과는 Hsu 등(2002)의 실험결과와 비교하여 잘 일치함을 알 수 있었다. 수치모의를 통해 유량비에 대한 분리구역의 크기 관계를 제시할 수 있었다. 그리고 분리구역의 크기를 줄이기 위해 본류와 지류가 만나는 모서리 지점을 곡선과 대각선으로 연결하여 유수흐름을 완만하게 만든 지형들을 제안하였다.

DNA Separation Using Cellulose Derivatives and PEO by PDMS Microchip

  • Poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) has been employed as a microchip material for DNA separation in microfluidic condition. Different sieving molecules such as cellulose derivatives having glucose building block (methyl cellulose (MC), hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC), and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC)) and polyethylene oxide (PEO) having linear (ring-opened ethylene oxide) unit were used and their performance was compared in terms of separation efficiency and resolution. In general, PEO showed better separation performance than cellulose derivatives probably due to the nature of linear shape polymer conformation. It was possible to perform at least 15 consecutive running with 1.2% PEO at the electric field strength around 200 V/cm. Fast analysis of the standard $\Phi$X 174 RF DNA/Hae III (less than 130s) was obtained with the number of the theoretical plate around 250,000/m. Our PMDS microchip was applied to the measurement of CAG repeat number, which is related to male infertile disease.

Automatic Individual Tooth Region Separation using Accurate Tooth Curve Detection for Orthodontic Treatment Planning

  • In this paper, we propose the automatic detection method for individual region separation using panorama image. Finding areas that contain individual teeth is one of the most important tasks in automating 3D models through individual tooth separation. In the conventional method, the maxillary and mandibular teeth regions are separated using a straight line or a specific CT slide, and the tooth regions are separated using a straight line in the vertical direction. In the conventional method, since the teeth are arranged in a curved shape, there is a problem that each tooth region is incorrectly detected in order to generate an accurate tooth region. This is a major obstacle to automating the creation of individual tooth models. In this study, we propose a method to find the correct tooth curve by using the jawbone curve which is very similar to the tooth curve in order to overcome the problem of finding the area containing the existing tooth. We have proposed a new method to accurately set individual tooth regions using the feature that individual teeth are arranged in a direction similar to the normal direction of the tooth alignment curve. In the proposed method, the maxillary and mandibular teeth can be more precisely separated than the conventional method, and the area including the individual teeth can be accurately set. Experiments using real dental CT images demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method.

Effect of core shape on debonding failure of composite sandwich panels with foam-filled corrugated core

  • One of the major failure modes in composite sandwich structures is the separation between skins and core. In this study, the effect of employing foam filled composite corrugated core on the skin/core debonding (resistance to separation between skin and core) is investigated both experimentally and numerically. To this aim, triangular corrugated core specimens are manufactured and compared with reference specimens only made of PVC foam core in terms of skin/core debonding under bending loading. The corrugated composite laminates are fabricated using the hand layup method. Also, the Vacuumed Infusion Process (VIP) is employed to join the skins to the core with greater quality. Utilizing an End Notched Shear (ENS) fixture, three point bending tests are performed on the manufactured sandwich composite panels. The results reveal that the resistance to separation capacity and flexural stiffness of sandwich composite has been increased about 170% and 76%, respectively by using a triangular corrugated core. The Cohesive Zone Model (CZM) with appropriate cohesive law in ABAQUS finite element software is used to model the progressive face/core interfaces debonding the difference between experimental and numerical results in predicting the maximum born load before the skin/core separation is about 6 % in simple core specimens and 3% in triangular corrugated core specimens.

용존공기부상조(DAF-tank)의 형상변화가 분리조(Separation Zone)의 내부 유동 패턴에 미치는 영향에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Study of Effect of DAF-Tank Shape on Flow Pattern in Separation Zone of Dissolved Air Flotation)

  • 용존공기부상조의 파일럿실험장치 설계를 위한 사전 검증 작업으로서 부상조의 유동을 이차원 이상유동으로 가정하여 수치적으로 모사하였다. 형상이 변경된 다양한 부상조와 기준부상조와의 간접적인 성능 비교를 위하여 분리조에서의 하강속도를 비교하였다. 해석 결과 기준부상조의 분리조에서는 잘 설계된 High-rate DAF 의 전형적인 유동 패턴이 관찰되었다. 이러한 유동패턴은 Baffle 각도나 접촉조의 폭과 같은 다른 형상 변수와 상관없이 Baffle 이 충분히 높을 때 잘 유지되었다. 그러나 Baffle 높이 및 각도, 접촉조의 폭 및 다공판의 설치유무는 분리조에서 하강속도의 균일성에 영향을 미쳤다. 기준부상조에서 Baffle의 높이를 제외한 다른 형상을 변화시키지 않았을 때, 분리조에서의 하강속도가 균일한 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 기준부상조의 형상최적화가 잘 되어있음을 의미한다.

핀틀 형상이 노즐 성능에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Investigation of Pintle Shape Effect on the Nozzle Performance)

  • 고체 추진기관은 고정된 추진제 그레인 형상과 노즐목 때문에 정해진 단순 추력을 가지게 된다. 핀틀 노즐은 기존의 고체 추진기관의 장점을 가지면서도 추력 조절이 불가능한 단점을 보완하기 위해 제안된 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 핀틀 형상이 노즐 성능에 미치는 영향을 실험과 수치해석 방법으로 평가하였다. 핀틀 형상은 단순성의 원리에 근거하여 변경하였으며 각각의 형상에 대한 내부 유동장은 난류모델을 적용하여 Fluent로 해석하였다. 본 연구로부터 핀틀 형상이 노즐내의 충격파 구조 및 유동박리 영향을 주어 노즐 추력 및 핀틀 하중에 영향을 미침과 최적의 노즐 성능을 발휘할 수 있는 핀틀 형상이 존재함을 확인하였다.
