시계열 데이타베이스에서 유사한 서브시퀀스의 모양 기반 검색 (Shape-Based Retrieval of Similar Subsequences in Time-Series Databases)

  • 본 논문에서는 시계열 데이타베이스에서의 모양 기반 검색 문제에 관하여 논의한다. 모양 기반 검색은 실제 요소 값과 관계없이 질의 시퀀스와 유사한 모양을 갖는 (서브)시퀀스를 찾는 연산이다. 본 연구에서는 모양 기반 서브시퀀스 검색을 위한 새로운 기법을 제안한다. 먼저, 시프팅, 스케일링, 이동 평균, 타임 워핑 등 변환들의 다양한 조합을 지원하는 모양 기반 검색을 위하여 새로운 유사 모델을 제시한다. 또한, 이러한 유사 모델을 기반으로 하는 모양 기반 검색을 효과적으로 처리하기 위하여 효율적인 인덱싱 및 질의 처리 기법들을 제안한다. 제안된 기법의 유용성을 규명하기 위하여 실제 데이타인 S&P 500 주식 데이터를 이용한 다양한 실험을 수행한다. 실험 결과에 의하면, 제안된 기법은 질의 시퀀스의 모양과 유사한 모양을 갖는 서브시퀀스들을 성공적으로 검색할 뿐만 아니라 순차 검색 기법과 비교하여 66배까지의 상당한 성능 개선 효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다.

Computer-Aided Crafting of Pulse Shapes for Broadband Heteronuclear Decoupling in the presence of Homonuclear Coupling

  • We present a pulse shape tailored for broadband decoupling for a system of spin-1/2's with scalar couplings as well. In crafting the pulse shape Coherent Averaging Theory and Fourier expansion method are used. The Fourier expansion coefficients are optimized numerically by applying the Simulated Annealing Method. The decoupling performance of the shaped pulse thus designed is then compared with the well-known composite pulse sequence, DIPSI-2. It is shown that the shaped pulse performs well even at the conditions where the DIPSI sequence begins to fail.

Application of Expert System for Non-Axisymmetric Deep Drawing Products

  • An ecpert system for rotationally symmetric deep drawing products has been developed. The application for non-axisymmetric components, however, has not been reported yet. This study construsctus and expert system for non-axisymmetric motor frame which shape is classified into ellipse in deep draqing process and investigates process sequence design with elliptical shape. The developed system consists of four modules. The first is recognition of calculate surface area for non-axisymmetric products. The third is blank design module the creates an oval-shaped blank with the same surface area. The fourth is a processplanning module based on production rules that play the best important roles in an expert system for manufacturing .The production rules are generated and upgraded by interviewing field engineers. Especially, drawing coefficient, punch and die radii for elliptical shape products are considered as main design parameters. The constructed system for elliptical deep drawing product would be very useful to reduce lead time and improve accuracy for products.

Pruning and Matching Scheme for Rotation Invariant Leaf Image Retrieval

  • For efficient content-based image retrieval, diverse visual features such as color, texture, and shape have been widely used. In the case of leaf images, further improvement can be achieved based on the following observations. Most plants have unique shape of leaves that consist of one or more blades. Hence, blade-based matching can be more efficient than whole shape-based matching since the number and shape of blades are very effective to filtering out dissimilar leaves. Guaranteeing rotational invariance is critical for matching accuracy. In this paper, we propose a new shape representation, indexing and matching scheme for leaf image retrieval. For leaf shape representation, we generated a distance curve that is a sequence of distances between the leaf’s center and all the contour points. For matching, we developed a blade-based matching algorithm called rotation invariant - partial dynamic time warping (RI-PDTW). To speed up the matching, we suggest two additional techniques: i) priority queue-based pruning of unnecessary blade sequences for rotational invariance, and ii) lower bound-based pruning of unnecessary partial dynamic time warping (PDTW) calculations. We implemented a prototype system on the GEMINI framework [1][2]. Using experimental results, we showed that our scheme achieves excellent performance compared to competitive schemes.

시계열 데이터베이스에서 복수의 모델을 지원하는 모양 기반 서브시퀀스 검색 (Shape-Based Subsequence Retrieval Supporting Multiple Models in Time-Series Databases)

  • 모양 기반 검색이란 실제 요소 값과 관계없이 질의 시퀀스와 유사한 모양을 갖는 시퀀스(서브시퀀스)를 데이터베이스 내에서 검색하여 내는 연산이다. 본 논문에서는 시계열 데이터베이스에서의 모양 기반 검색을 위한 유연성 있는 새로운 유사 모델을 정의하고, 이 유사 모델을 지원하기 위한 인덱싱 및 질의 처리 방안을 제시한다. 제안된 유사 모델에서는 정규화, 이동 평균, 타임 워핑 등 다양한 변환을 지원한다. 특히 최종 유사 정도를 계산하기 위하여 사용되는$L_p$거리 함수론 사용자가 임의로 지정하도록 함으로써 응용에서 선호하는 유사 모델을 반영할 수 있다. 또한 이러한 모양 기반 검색을 효과적으로 지원하기 위한 압축된 서브시퀀스 트리 구조를 제안하고, 이를 기반으로 하는 효율적인 질의 처리 기법을 제시한다. 실험 결과에 의하면 제안된 기법은 진의 시퀀스와 모양이 유사한 서브시퀀스들을 사용자에 의하여 선택된 거리 함수를 사용하여 성공적으로 검색할 뿐 아니라, 순차 검색과 비교하여 거리 함수 선택에 따라 수 십배에서 수 백배까지의 성능 개선 효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다.

Testing The Healing Environment Conditions for Nurses with two Independent Variables: Visibility Enhancement along with Shortening the Walking Distance of the Nurses to Patient - Focused on LogWare stop sequence and space syntax for U-Shape, L- Shape and I-Shape NS-

  • Purpose: Maximizing human comfort in design of medical environments depends immensely on specialized architects particularly critical care design; the study proposes Evidence-Based Design as an apparent analog to Evidence-Based Medicine. Healthcare facility designs are substantially based on the findings of study in an effort to design environments that augment care by improving patient safety and being therapeutic. On SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) t-test is applied to simulate two independent variables of PDR (Pre Design-Research) and POE (Post- Occupancy Evaluation). PDR is conducted on relatively new hospital Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital to analyse visibility from researchers' point of view, here the ICU is arranged in I-Shape. POE is applied on Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital to simulate walking on LogWare where two NS are designed based on L- Shape and Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, The Catholic University of Korea where five NS are functional for ICU Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), Korean Oriental Medical Care Unit which are mostly arranged in U-Shape, and walking pattern is recognized to be in a zigzag path. Method: T-Test is applied on two dependent communication variables: walkability and visibility, with confidence interval of 95%. This study systematically analyses the Nurse Station (NS) typo-morphology, and simulates nurse horizontal circulation, by computing round route visits to patient's bed, then estimating minimum round route on LogWare stop sequence software. The visual connectivity is measured on depth map graphs. Hence the aim is to reduce staff stress and fatigue for better patients care by minimizing staff horizontal travel time and to facilitate nurse walk path and support space distribution by increasing effectiveness in delivering care. Result: Applying visibility graph and isovist field on space syntax on I- Shape, L- Shape and U- Shape ICU (SICU, MICU and CCU) configuration, I-shape facilitated 20% more patients in linear view as they stir to rise from their beds from nurse station compared to U-shape. In conclusion, it was proved that U-Shape supply minimum walking and maximum visibility; and L shape provides just visibility as the nurse is at pivot. I shape provides panoramic view from the Nurse Station but very rigorous walking.

세탁조의 제작공정해석 및 공정개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Process Sequence Design of a Tub for the Washing Machine Container)

  • Process sequence design in sheet metal forming process by the finite element method is investigated. The forming of sheet metal into a washing machine container is used to demonstrate the design of an improved process sequence which has fewer operations. The design procedure makes extensive use of the finite element method which has simulation capabilities of elastic-plastic modeling. A one-stage process to make an initial blank to the final product is simulated to obtain information on metal flow requirements. Loading simulation for a conventional method is also performed to evaluate the design criteria which are uniform thickness distribution around the finished part and maximum punch load within limit of available press capacity. The newly designed sequence has two forming operations and can achieve net-shape manufacturing, while the conventional process sequence has three forming operations. This specific case conventional process sequence has three forming operations. This specific case can be considered for application of the method and for development of the sequence design methodology in general.

Determining 3D-shape of specular objects by using an encoded grid pattern light source

  • This paper describes a new method to determine the 3D-shape of objects consisting of specular planar surfaces. This method exploits a light source which is made of a diffuse plane with a grid pattern encoded in an M-sequence and uses a single image of the light source reflected by the objects to acquiring orientations and positions of the surfaces of the objects. When grid lines of the light source are reflected by a specular planar surface and perspectively projected on an image plane, a set of lines vanishing at a point are obtained on the image plane. The orientation of the specular planar surface is determined by using the vanishing point, and the position is determined by using the correspondence between lines on the image and lines on the light source, which is obtained by employing a characteristic regularity of the M-sequence. Before the vanishing points are calculated, the lines on the image are classified and correlated with the surfaces of objects by using slopes and positions of the lines and the regularity of the M-sequence. This method requires only a single image.

  • Clinical application of composite resin recently draw great concerns in dentistry. Especially due to advantages such as esthetics, adhesiveness, simple clinical procedures, various shapes and kinds of composite resins are widely being applied to prosthodontics, conservative dentistry, and orthodontics. But, clinical problems attributable to the polymerization shrinkage of composite resin have been proposed, and we have to regard clinical problems such as secondary caries, loss of restoration, fracture of the surrounding tooth structure, marginal discoloration, and tooth sensitivity, and many portions are remained to be overcome. Therefore, this study attempts to analyze stress distribution between resin and tooth structure which is generated during polymerization shrinkage of composite resin using three dimensional finite element method. Three dimensional finite element models with conventional box-shape cavity and erosion/abrasion type V-shape lesion cavity in upper central incisor were developed. These cavities were filled with four different types of placement techniques. (bulk filling, horizontal increment filling, oblique occlusal increment filling, oblique gingival increment filling) The stresses generated by polymerization shrinkage of composite resin were calculated. The results analyzed with three dimensional finite element method were as follows : 1. The increment filling technique showed the highest maximum normal stress in both conventional box-shape and V-shape cavities and showed a tendency to decrease after complete polymerization. 2. The bulk filling technique resulted in increased stresses during the curing process in both conventional box-shape and V-shape cavities and the highest maximum normal stress occurred after complete polymerization. 3. The bulk filling resulted in the lowest maximum normal stress in both box-shape and V-shape cavities 4. Regardless of placement method, in conventional box-shape cavity, the maximum normal stress increased in dentin floor, enamel, dentin sequence and in V-shape cavity, the maximum normal stress increased in enamel, dentin sequence.

  • 동영상의 내용 기반 검색에 있어 객체의 움직임에 대한 정보는 내용의 분류와 구분에 있어 중요하게 이용될 수 있다. 특히 사람의 동작을 분석하고 구분하는 것은 검색뿐 아니라 다양한 분야에 활용할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 객체의 움직임에 따라 변화하는 모양 정보를 이용하여 동작을 표현하고 구분하기 위해 제안된 모양 변화 기술자와 모양 시퀀스의 성능을 높이는 방법을 제안한다. 변화하는 객체의 모양 정보를 더 효율적으로 표현하기 위한 모양 기술자의 선택과 유사도 측정을 위해 사용되는 거리함수의 비교를 통하여 동작 정보의 표현 및 검색 효율을 높일 수 있도록 하였다. 실험을 통하여 제안된 방법이 기존의 방법에 비해 더 효율적으로 동작 정보를 표현하여 검색의 성능을 높일 수 있음을 보였다.
