자동차 엔진부품용 Shaft에 플라즈마 산질화기술 적용 (The Application of Plasma Nitrocarburizing and Plasma Post Oxidation Technology to the Automobile Engine Parts Shafts)

  • Plasma nitrocarburising and plasma post oxidation were performed to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of S45C and SCM440 steel by a plasma ion nitriding system. Plasma nitrocarburizing was conducted for 3h at $570^{\circ}C$ in the nitrogen, hydrogen and methane atmosphere to produce the ${\varepsilon}-Fe_{2-3}$(N, C) phase. Plasma post oxidation was performed on the nitrocarburized samples with various oxygen/hydrogen ratio at constant temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. The very thin magnetite ($Fe_3O_4$) layer $1-2{\mu}m$ in thickness on top of the $15{\sim}25{\mu}m$ ${\varepsilon}-Fe_{2-3}$(N, C) compound layer was obtained by plasma post oxidation. A salt spray test and electrochemical testing revealed that in the tested 5% NaCl solution, the corrosion characteristics of the nitrocarburized compound layer could be further improved by the application of the superficial magnetite layer. Throttle valve shafts were treated under optimum plasma processing conditions. Accelerated life time test results, using throttle body assembled with shaft treated by plasma nitrocarburising and post oxidation, showed that plasma nitrocarburizing and plasma post oxidation processes could be a viable technology in the very near future which can replace $Cr^{6+}$ plating.

풍화된 암반에 근입된 현장타설말뚝의 주면지지력 (Side Shear Resistance of Drilled Shafts in Weathered Rock)

  • 본 연구에서는 암반의 풍화상태가 암반에 근입된 현장타설콘크리트 말뚝의 주면지지력에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 총 4부지의 풍화된 화강암/편마암 지역에 시공된 현장타설말뚝 14본(직경 400~1500 mm)에 대한 축방향 정재하시험 및 하중전이 계측결과, 그리고 대상암반에 대한 엄밀한 지반조사 결과를 포함하는 데이터베이스를 구축하고, 암반 주면부의 거동과 암반물성치의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 풍화암/연암에 근입된 대상말뚝의 경우 주면지지력과 신선암편의 일축압축강도와의 상관관계 분석 결과 일관적인 상관성을 찾을 수 없었다. 그러나 Hoek-Brown 파괴규준을 이용해 추정한 암반강도는 주면지지력과 좋은 상관관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 암반의 풍화 및 절리상태를 대변한다고 판단되는 암반물성치(e.g. $E_m$, $E_{ur}$, $p_{lm}$, RMR, RQD, j)들과 주면지지력의 상관성 분석을 통해 얻은 최적회귀곡선의 상관계수 또한 대부분의 경우 0.75 이상으로 좋은 상관성을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 추가적으로, 본 연구의 결과를 이용하여 기존의 주면지지력 추정방법의 풍화암/연암에의 적용성을 재하시험결과와의 비교를 통해 고찰하였다. 암반상태를 고려한 기존의 주면지지력 추정방법은 각각 암체계수(j) 0.15 이상, RQD 60 이상의 비교적 상태가 양호한 암반에 대해서만 제안되어 있으므로, 암체계수 0.15 이하, RQD 0~50인 연암 및 풍화암에 대한 본 연구의 결과를 이용하여 암반상태가 불량한 암반까지 이들 방법의 적용성을 보완 및 확장하였다.

국내 석회석 광산 수갱 굴착에 의한 통기효과 분석 연구 (A Study on the Ventilation Effects of the Shaft Development at a Local Limestone Mine)

  • 주선풍기가 설치된 통기수갱이 굴착된 국내 석회석 광산에서 수행한 통기수갱의 통기효과 분석결과 자연통기 및 기계통기 효과가 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 수갱을 통하여 입기되는 자연통기량은 최대 $11.7m^3/s$이었으며 갱내 공기온도의 측정에 의하여 비교적 정확한 정량적 예측이 가능하였다. 선풍기 가동에 의한 배기 통기량은 $20.3{\sim}24.8m^3/s$로 통기량의 변동은 갱도내 장비의 이동에 의한 통기특성곡선의 상향이동에 따른 선풍기 운전점의 변화에 의한 결과이므로 통기저항의 저감 노력이 요구된다. 갱구로부터 수갱까지 총 1912 m 갱도내 난류확산계수는 $15m^2/s$, $18m^2/s$로 나타나 오염물질은 기류보다 상대적으로 빨리 확산되므로 공기질 제어를 위하여 신속한 배기가 요구된다. 따라서 통기용 수갱은 급격히 심부화 및 대형화되고 있는 국내석회석광산의 지속적 개발을 위한 필수적 갱내 환경제어 시설로 권장되어야할 것으로 판단된다.

  • A drilled shaft is a deep foundation that is constructed by placing fluid concrete in a drilled hole. Reinforcing steel can be installed in the excavation, if desired, prior to placing the concrete. Drilled shafts provide excellent foundation systems for civil structures. In order to utilize them effectively, it is essential that designers have a clear understanding for how drilled shafts are constructed and also understand the basis for design methods. This paper describes standard design methods for drilled shafts.

  • The ground anchor used in domestic area, which resists by adhesion between anchor body and the ground to the external force, seems not to be adequate for soft ground and urban area where the boundary between structures is close because the ground is disturbed and lost its strength during boring. In order to overcome such a shortcoming an expanded anchor system has been developed. The ground expansion is accomplished by means of Pulse Discharge Technology. In this technology, a high voltage of electricity is stored and discharged in milliseconds which induces high pressure acting on the ground. By making a couple of bulbs, a passive resistance as well as shaft resistance are mobilized, and therefore a higher pullout resistance comparing existing ground anchors is developed.In this study, a couple of full scale tests were conducted in order to figure out how much the resistance of an expanded anchor increases comparing to the straight. As a result, it was found that a remarkable increase in ultimate pullout capacity is observed for the soft ground and as the number of bulb increases. In addtion, as a result of applying to a cut slope reinforcement, it appeared that the length of fixed zone of anchor can be reduced effectively.

  • Various propulsion systems, applicable for a G/T 47,000 class mid-size cruise ship, are discussed and a comparative study on stern forms and hull resistance characteristics is carried out, in relation to these propulsion systems. Based on shipyard production logs on similar cruise ships, a reference hull form of a single shaft propulsion system with center-skeg, is generated. Then two new stern hull forms are derived by using a hull transform technique: consisting of one stern form using a twin-skeg system and the other using the Azipod system. Using a CFD-based commercial flaw analysis program, WAVIS (WAve and VIScous flaw analysis system for hull form development), various hydrodynamic characteristics, including wave profiles and ship hull resistance, are compared for three hull forms.

Sensorless Fuzzy Direct Torque Control for High Performance Electric Vehicle with Four In-Wheel Motors

  • This paper describes a control scheme of speed sensorless fuzzy direct torque control (FDTC) of permanent magnet synchronous motor for electric vehicle (EV). Electric vehicle requires fast torque response and high efficiency of the drive. Speed sensorless FDTC In-wheel PMSM drives without mechanical speed sensors at the motor shaft have the attractions of low cost, quick response and high reliability in electric vehicle application. This paper presents a new approach to estimate the speed of in-wheel electrical vehicles based on Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS). The direct torque control suffers in low speeds due to the effect of changes in stator resistance on the flux measurements. To improve the system performance at low speeds, a PI-fuzzy resistance estimator is proposed to eliminate the error due to changes in stator resistance. High performance sensorless drive of the in-wheel motor based on MRAS with on line stator resistance tuning is established for four motorized wheels electric vehicle and the whole system is simulated by matalb/simulink. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the new control strategy. This proposed control strategy is extensively used in electric vehicle application.

암반에 근입된 현장타설말뚝의 주면지지력 (Side Shear Resistance of Drilled Shafts in Rock)

  • In this research, the effect of rock mass weathering on the side shear resistance of drilled shaft socketed into weathered rock was investigated. For that, a database of 23 cast-in-place concrete piles with diameters varying from 400mm to 1,500mm were socketed into weathered igneous/meta-igneous rock at four different sites. The static axial load tests were performed to examine the resistant behavior of the piles, and a comprehensive field/laboratory testing program at the field test site was also performed to describe the in situ rock mass conditions quantitatively. No correlation was found between the compressive strengths of intact rock and the side shear resistance of weathered/soft rock. The ground investigation data regarding the rock mass conditions (e.g. $E_m,\;E_{ur},\;_{plm}$, RMR, RQD, j) was found to be highly correlated with the side shear resistance, showing the coefficients of correlation greater than 0.7 in most cases. Additionally, the applicability of existing methods for the side shear resistance of piles in rock was verified by comparison with the field test data. The existing empirical relations between the compressive strength of intact rock and the side shear resistance(Horvath (1982), Rowe & Armitage(1987) etc.) appeared to overestimated the side shear resistance of all piles tested in this research unless additional consideration on the effect of rock mass weathering or fracturing was applied. The existing methods which consider the effect of rock mass condition were modified and/or extended for weathered rock mass where mass factor j is lower than 0.1, and RQD is below 50%.

CPT결과를 이용한 항타말뚝 지지력 평가를 위한 저항계수 산정 (Estimation of Pile Resistance Factor by CPT Based Pile Capacity)

  • 신뢰성 기반의 한계상태설계법(Limit State Design; LSD)의 지반공학적 적용은 세계적으로 확산추세이며, 북미지역의 경우 일부 시방서에 하중 및 저항에 의한 LRFD 설계법이 지반공학적 설계에 적용되고 있다. 그러나 지금까지 제안되어 온 지반공학적 저항계수는 상당히 포괄적인 값이며, 이와 관련된 연구는 아직까지 초기단계라 할 수 있다. 콘관입시험은 대표적인 현장시험으로 특히 말뚝 설계에서 유용하게 활용되고 있으며, 다양한 말뚝 지지력 산정법이 제시되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 콘관입시험을 이용한 항타 말뚝 지지력 평가를 위한 저항계수를 산정하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 여러 지역에서 수행된 말뚝재하시험과 콘관입시험 결과를 수집하여 확률적 분석을 수행하였으며, 이를 종합하여 저항계수 산정에 적용하였다. 본 연구에서는 전체지지력뿐만 아니라 말뚝의 선단 및 주면 지지력 각각에 대한 저항계수 또한 도출하고자 하였다. 저항계수 산정 결과, 목표신뢰도지수 $2.0{\sim}2.5$의 범위에서 전체지지력에 대한 저항계수 $0.35{\sim}0.55$범위를 나타내었다.

  • A thermo-elastic system in the production machine has highly nonlinear dynamic characteristics. In general, the finite element method is utilized for accurate analysis. However, it requires large computing time. Thus, thermo-elastic systems are usuallymodeled as electric and fluid system using lumped para,eter. In this paper. we propose the bondgraph model and transient simulation methodology of thermo-elastic system in consideration of various boundary and joint contact conditions. Consequently, the proposed method ensures a possibility of its on-line compensation about undesirable phenomena by using real time estimate process and electronic cooling device for thermal appropriate behavior. Thermo-elastic model consisting of bush and shaft including contact condition is presented.
