  • Angus postweaning daily gain (PWDG) were analyzed to investigate heterogeneous variance by sex. A set of data (16,239 records) was divided into six sub-data sets according to level of environment. REML estimation was conducted by a multitrait model, where PWDG in each sex was treated as a separate trait. Estimates showed diversity among environmental levels, where the heritability for heifers was high in good environment but low in poor environment. The bull's estimates varied among environmental levels. The largest heterogeneity of phenotypic variance between sexes was estimated in a data set of the poor environment level. The genetic correlations between the heifer's PWDG and the bull's PWDG were high in the good environment and low in the poor environment (-0.17). The results suggest existence of genotype by sex interaction in the poor environment.

  • Trends in cancer incidence is a key tool to identify the pattern of cancer of any country. This retrospective study was performed to present the trends of change in cancer incidence in Nepal. The total number of cancer cases in males was 26,064 while the total number of females cancer cases was 29,867 throughout the 10 years from 2003 to 2012. The cancer incidence per 100,000 in males was 12.8 in 2003 and 25.8 people in 2012. Similarly, in females, the crude incidence rate was 15.1 in 2003 and 26.7 per 100,000 in 2012. Cancer incidence was low at early age but it was increased with age in both sexes in Nepal. Lung cancer was the most common cancer in males throughout, while it was the third most common cancer in females. Cervix uteri was the most common site of cancer in females throughout the 10 years, with a clear trend for increase in breast cancer within this time.

  • For youths of both sexes which can read the letter chap of 1.0 acuity without lens, tests the fogging technique and examines the development of visual acuity. And compare the numerical function with the result of the variation of the blur circle on the retina when the power of the fogging lens varies. The variation of visual ac acuity for the fogging technique keeps constantly the balance for binocular.

  • The purpose of this study is to define women's classic tailored suits surviving, despite current millennial impulses tend toward disintegration in style. Through documentary study, the reason which women had chosen the mannish tailored suits instead of sumptuous dresses in the 20th century beginnings is considered carefully. Also, examining the process of transition of women's classic suits makes it possible to infer the aesthetic characteristics of them. According to study, women had began to wear tailored suits acquiring physical comfort and the equality of the sexes. In the early stage, women imitated men's tailored suits in order to show seriousness, intelligent, capability for social success. However, in accordance with the advance of women's social position women modified it to suits themselves to present intrinsic feminity as well as masculine values. By staying the basic form, classic tailored suits have undergone constant internal changes in relation to sexuality. The aesthetic properties of women's classic tailored suits can be inferred as moderation, dualism, and versatility. In conclusion, the credibility with own authority and the evolutionary character inhering in the classic tailored suits could explain the continuity of them.

(L.) longistigma Alexander, 1921, and L. (L.) puella Alexander, 1925 are new records for the Korean peninsula. Genera Discobola Osten Sacken, 1865, Geranomyia Haliday, 1833 and Libnotes Westwood, 1876 are new records for South Korea. Identification keys, redescriptions and illustrations of all species and both sexes, if they were found in Korea, are presented.

  • A harpacticoid copepod, Sinamphiascus dominatus Mu & Gee, 2000 is re-described from the sandy bottom in off Jeju Island of Korea. The genus Sinamphiascus was established with single species, S. dominatus from the Bohai Sea, China. The main diagnostic characters of the specimen from Korea are well matched with the original description, although it has minor discrepancies including the lengths and ornamentation of setae in leg 6 of both sexes, shape of the base on furcal setae and teeth number of labrum in female. However those discrepancies are regarded to the intra-specific variations. This is the first record of genus Sinamphiascus in Korean waters.

  • The morphometric truss characteristics and classical dimensions of the marine medaka, Oryzias dancena, that might distinguish diploid and triploid fish were examined. Significant differences in all the classical and truss dimensions of the diploid and triploid fish were observed in both sexes (p<0.01). All the dimensions of the triploid fish were greater than those of the diploid fish. The triploid marine medaka shows sexual dimorphism in these characters, and the sexual dimorphism of the triploid marine medaka is similar to that of the diploid marine medaka. Thus, when their classical dimension and truss dimension was measured, the growth of triploid marine medaka is faster than that of the diploid fish, and it displays clear sexual dimorphism, with male fish having longer dorsal and anal fins than female fish.

  • The purpose of this literature review was to identify the physiological changes with aging. The results of this renew were to follows : We have seen a wide variety of such changes in the cells and in all organ systems. 1. At least 40 percent of people over 65 will die of cardiac disease, 15 percent of cerebrovascular disease, and possibly another 5 percent of other types of vascular impairment. 2. The increase rigidity of the thoracic wall and the decreased strength of the expiratory muscles decrease the propulsive effectiveness of the cough. 3. The density of capillaries per motor units is decreased. 4. Starting before age 40 in both sexes there is a shift from an increase in bone mass to a progressive decrease. 5. Histologic studies show a lim age-correlated decrease in the number of Pacini's. Merkel's, and Meissner's corpuscles.

  • The acute oral LD5O toxicity values of isazofos, pyraclofos, diazinon and methomyl were determined for Japanese quail based on OECD guideline. The $LD_{50}$ of isazofos, pyraclofos and diazinon was 16.26 mg/kg, and 7.11mg/kg body weight In female respectively. And the $LD_{50}$ of each chemical in male was 21.44, 35.64, 8.28 mg/kg body weight respectively. Diazinon was the most susceptible compounds to Japanese quail in both sexes. The $LD_{50}$ of methomyl was 21.24 mg/kg body weights in female, and 28.28 mg/kg body weight in male respectively. Diazinon, isazofos and methomyl were more toxic In the female than male. The symptoms of poisoning were similar in quails administrated with each chemicals. The clinical sign in Japanese quail were ataxia, salivation, diarrhea, ruffled feather and convulsion at dead point. There were severe hemorrhage and catarrhal inflammation from duodenum to ileum In all compounds. In Japanese quail treated with organophosphorus and carbamate compounds, brain acetylcholinesterase was inhibited by 88-96. The recovery was not observed after 5 h in sublethal dose.

  • The subacute oral toxicity study of DWP-311 was carried out in Sprague-Dawley rats of both sexes. We daily examined clinical signs, body weights, hematological and biochemical parameters, and histopathological examinations for 30 days after administration of DWP-311 with different dose levels (0, 0.04, 0.2, and 1.0 g/kg). There were no clinical signs and pathological changes compared with control group except slight decreases in spontaneous motor activities and locomotions at high dose group of DWP-311. Body weights were not significantly changed in animals treated with DWP-311, In histopathological examinations, there were 2 cases of pneumonia in control group for one male and one female, but it was not directly related to DWP-311. These results indicate that subacute oral toxicities of DWP-311 were low and the no-observed a dverse effect level (NOAEL) was considered to be 1.0 g/kg in rats.
