Pricing the Seaport Service according to the Cost Allocation Rule of Game Theory (게임이론 비용배분규칙에 의한 항만서비스 가격산정)

  • Since service competition among global supply chains became intensified, market-oriented system, instead of the existing cost-based system, for port service pricing has been strongly recommended in order to enhance their long-term viability and competitiveness. The Owen value of cooperative game frameworks allows us to apply a market-oriented pricing theory for the port pricing in the case of Gwangyang port to verify its usefulness. The analytical results of this paper suggested some solutions in the problem of berth-based cost allocation by a characteristic function and also showed the proper relative weights of factors to derive the quay use index by Budescu(1993). We also suggested a favorable port pricing system to major shipping firms as well as a discount port pricing system for their strategic alliance. To put it differently, the results of this study enable the port managers to make out some strategic port pricing system like the reasonable discount in port charge for the larger ship owners using the ports frequently.

  • This study investigates the characteristics and implications of the newly emerging socially-oriented innovation policy. The socially-oriented innovation policy has systemic views on the evolution of socio-technical system and innovation policy. It's ultimate goal is the transition toward sustainable socio-technical system and it takes "strategic niche management" approach for the transition policy. The governance structure of the policy is more open to the public actors, such as social service organizations and public institutes. As a case study, "the Technology-based Policy for the Enhancement of Quality of Life", which is the first comprehensive socially-oriented policy of Korea, is examined and it is suggested that the policy has some limitations because of the path dependency of targeting-oriented and catching-up style innovation policy of Korea.

A Study on the U-Library Service (U-도서관 서비스에 관한 연구)

  • The U-library service is a user-oriented library service through which users, after browsing and making reservations using the Internet and smartphones, can borrow and return library materials at an unmanned circulation system located in places, such as subway stations, without visiting the library. However, the U-library service is still in the early stages both quantitatively and qualitatively. In that, this study, in order to enhance our understanding of the U-library service, conceptualizes the unmanned circulation system, investigates current situation by examining and analyzing some U-library service cases, and pinpoints some problems while making some suggestions for improvement.

A Hybrid Service Orchestration Framework based on BPEL4WS

  • As the value of B2B integration gets more importance and the business process becomes more complex, BPEL4WS standard has been focused for the solution of the problems which is based on web service technology. Many vendors implement the standard in their systems to integrate B2B and web service based inner-Enterprise Application(EA)s. But there is no way to use the standard to integrate non-web service based EAs, because the standard is designed only for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) over web services. This paper proposes Hybrid Service Orchestration Framework to participate web services and also non-web service based EAs in the business process as a partner using BPEL4WS standard. The framework introduces Hybrid Service Architecture to represent non-web service based EAs as a service, so BPEL4WS could be used to integrate web services and non-web service based EAs. And the framework also introduces Hybrid Service Toolkit to support software level facilities. The paper also introduces Hybrid Orchestration System that is based on Hybrid Service Orchestration Framework.

  • As the nature of the embedded system, it is operated by user specified requirements, the dynamic action(behavior) is needed when the user's requirements change or unexpected situations occur. In this paper, it is proposed that design and implementation of SOA(Service-oriented architecture) based S/W services for dynamic behavior of embedded System. In this proposed technique, the status of embedded system can be checked through Web services, and in the cases of exceptional situations, the required proper actions can be newly updated through Web services. Through this technique, the burden of users concerning exceptional situations can be reduced, and the convenience of use can increased as well.

  • SOA(service oriented architecture) based ESB(enterprise service bus) model is widely adopted in many companies for the safe processing of enormous data and the integration of business system. The existing web service technologies for the construction of SOA, however, show unsatisfactory in practical applications though the standardization of web service security technologies is in progress due to their limitations in safe exchange of data. Internal end users using a large business system based on such environment are composed of the variety of organizations and roles. Companies might receive more serious damage from insider threat than that from external one when internal end users get unauthorized information beyond the limits of their authority for private profit and bad purposes. In this paper, we propose a security architecture capable of identifying and coping with the security threats of web service technologies arouse from internal end users.

  • Recently, the object-oriented design is the major paradigm for software development. Most systems are following this paradigm, but the past studies for a video conversation domain were not based on full-scale object-oriented design. Thus, this paper presents an systematical architecture design using UML for a video conversation system that is well-known and has high rate of usefulness. It analysis a video conversation system that has much demand of service as systematical functional/non-functional requirements, and the object-oriented design applying '4+1 View Model' guarantees the reusability of a component and makes it possible to extend a system by adding components as needed. Consequently, it is expected that the components of video conversation system designed by this paper will be useful the other video conversation systems and will be expanded to web environment.

  • In recent, keeping and developing relationships with current customers is a key service business goal, and service recovery efforts is to be the essence of service business strategy. But many researchers have neglected to focus on that issue. So this research is intended to explore service quality factors that include service recovery efforts and grip those difference among service operations systems. Service operations systems are divided into three categories. Our study results suggest that customer oriented firms need to develop a comprehensive service recovery system and must include service recovery as a service quality factor.

  • Mobile office is becoming common as advances in mobile devices such as PDAs, Smart-phones, or wireless Internet. In this paper, we construct a mobile office environment on a geotechnical information system(GIS). Especially, web services and XML technology combined with SOA (service oriented services) are adopted for various types of mobile devices and services in a minimum cost. Web service and XML can provide an excellent SW reusability, extensibility, and interoperability even for heterogeneous distributed systems. Applications can exploit web services by just knowing server's address. Prototype system integrates a client in Visual Basic.Net and server in Java via the web services and XML data exchange. We verify effectiveness of the approach through the implementation of prototype system.

  • Recently, software distribution method, along with advent of era of Web 2.0, is rapidly evolving from ASP(Application Service Provider) method into SaaS(Soft as a Service) method due to development in concepts and technologies including SOA(Service Oriented Architecture) Web Service, On Demand and Component. Determining factor in market competitiveness of newly emerging SaaS business model will be analyzed by focusing on Group-Wares, POS(Point of Sale) System, CRM(Customer Relationship Management) and ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning), which are the most representative SaaS business models in Korea. It is anticipated that the outcome of analysis of determining factors for market competitiveness for each of the main SaaS Business Models acquired through questionnaire survey can be utilized as important benchmarking material in setting the direction of cultivating SaaS market by the government as well as new entries into SaaS market.
