Service ORiented Computing EnviRonment (SORCER) for deterministic global and stochastic aircraft design optimization: part 1

  • With rapid growth in the complexity of large scale engineering systems, the application of multidisciplinary analysis and design optimization (MDO) in the engineering design process has garnered much attention. MDO addresses the challenge of integrating several different disciplines into the design process. Primary challenges of MDO include computational expense and poor scalability. The introduction of a distributed, collaborative computational environment results in better utilization of available computational resources, reducing the time to solution, and enhancing scalability. SORCER, a Java-based network-centric computing platform, enables analyses and design studies in a distributed collaborative computing environment. Two different optimization algorithms widely used in multidisciplinary engineering design-VTDIRECT95 and QNSTOP-are implemented on a SORCER grid. VTDIRECT95, a Fortran 95 implementation of D. R. Jones' algorithm DIRECT, is a highly parallelizable derivative-free deterministic global optimization algorithm. QNSTOP is a parallel quasi-Newton algorithm for stochastic optimization problems. The purpose of integrating VTDIRECT95 and QNSTOP into the SORCER framework is to provide load balancing among computational resources, resulting in a dynamically scalable process. Further, the federated computing paradigm implemented by SORCER manages distributed services in real time, thereby significantly speeding up the design process. Part 1 covers SORCER and the algorithms, Part 2 presents results for aircraft panel design with curvilinear stiffeners.

SOA 서비스의 동적 선택 설계 기법 (A Design Method for Dynamic Selection of SOA Services)

  • 서비스 지향 컴퓨팅(Service-Oriented Computing, SOC)은 배포된 서비스를 선택하고 조합하여 서비스 클라이언트가 원하는 기능을 제공하는 개발 방식이다. SOC는 향상된 비즈니스 기민성, 단축된 개발 시간과 같은 여러 장점을 제공한다. 이러한 장점을 극대화하기 위해서는 서비스의 선택과 조합이 동적으로 이루어져야 한다. 하지만 현재의 프로그래밍 언어, SOC 플랫폼, 비즈니스 프로세스 모델링 언어 (Business Process Modeling Language, BPML) 및 도구는 수동적 서비스 선택 또는 서비스의 정적 바인딩만을 지원하는 수준에 머물러 있다 각 클라이언트의 요구사항을 만족하는 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 해당 비즈니스 프로세스는 재구성 (reconfiguration)되고 재배포 (redeploy)되어야 하는 문제점이 있다. 따라서, 서비스 클라이언트의 다양한 요구에 맞게 서비스를 신속하고 유연하게 조합시키기 위하여 동적 선택기법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 엔터프라이즈 서비스 버스(Enterprise Service Bus, ESB) 기반의 동적 선택 핸들러 (Dynamic Selection Handler, DSH) 설계 기법을 제안한다. DSH의 네 가지 컴포넌트인 수행 리스너, 서비스 선택자, 서비스 바인더, 인터페이스 변환자에 대한 설계를 제시한다. DSH 설계 시에 적합한 디자인 패턴을 적용하여 컴포넌트의 재사용성이 높도록 설계한다. 마지막으로 제안한 DSH 설계의 실용성을 보이기 위해 ESB를 이용하여 DSH를 구현한다.

시스템 디자인 연구 : 가구제조회사의 서비스화 실제 사례 중심으로 (Product-Service Systems Design Approach : Servitization of a Small Furniture Manufacturing Company)

  • Service elements are added to the product to improve the company it its sales and innovation. The servitization process could take many different routes reflecting various properties of the manufacturing firm and its business contexts. Product-service systems (PSS) design method developed at Sungkyunkwan Universty, Service Design Institute, has been applied to a small furniture manufacturing company to demonstrate the utility of the method and to devise improvements. First, the business context of the company has been analyzed and key values have been identified. A co-creative session has been conducted to develop initial service concepts to drive those key values. The diverse positioning of those service concepts on the scale of service supporting product and service support customer is then developed to plan servitization phases. The specific service concepts are about company-customer relationship building as well as customization and personalization in this case. Initial service concepts are detailed with service blueprint so that prototyping and customer experience evaluation can be done. Business models in different servitization phases are designed. Further prototyping and customer experience evaluation has been done with business strategy improvements. In this paper, the proudct-service systems design method has been reviewed and the specific and real processes of the servitization using design will be described with discussion on the improvement of the method and the enhancement of the business.

예비수학교사들의 디자인 사고(Design Thinking) 기반 교육실습 활동 경험 분석 (Analysis of Pre-Service Mathematics Teachers' Experience on Design Thinking based Teaching Practicum)

  • 본 연구는 예비수학교사의 교육실습 현장수행 역량을 높이기 위해, 디자인 사고 프로세스를 활용한 대학수업과 학교 현장의 교육실습 연계형 프로그램을 운영하고 참여한 예비수학교사들의 경험을 분석하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해, 2019학년도 1학기 교육실습 대상자인 예비수학교사 8명이 참여한 대학 전공 수업에 디자인 사고 5단계 프로세스를 적용한 후, 참여자 집단 및 개별 면담 자료와 디자인 사고 활동 결과물 등 질적 자료를 수집 분석하였다. 자료 분석에 따른 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학수업에서의 디자인 사고 1~4단계를 통해 참여자들의 인식은, 초기에 공감 단계의 혼돈과 막연함에서 시작하였으나 시간의 흐름에 따라 프로그램 활동에 대해 보다 적극적인 변화를 보였다. 둘째, 교육실습 중, 디자인 사고의 5번째 단계인 평가단계에서는, 참여 예비수학교사들이 이전단계에서 생성한 프로토타입의 적용성을 확인하는 활동을 적극적으로 수행하였다. 다만, 일부 현장의 허용적이지 않은 상황으로 인해 프로토타입의 적용에 어려움을 가진 사례도 있었다. 셋째, 교육실습 후, 대학수업에서의 평가 및 성찰 과정에서 참여자들은 디자인 사고 활동의 필요성에 긍정적으로 공감하였다. 끝으로, 대학수업과 학교현장의 교육실습 간 융통성 있는 연결을 위해 두 영역의 긴밀한 연계가 전제될 필요가 있음이 확인되었다.

  • 서비스 경쟁력의 중요성은 나날이 증대하고 있다. 국내 기업들은 서비스 경쟁력의 중요성을 인식하고 있지만, 그 대응은 미흡한 수준이다. 서비스는 생산과 소비가 동시에 발생하는 특징을 가지고 있어 그 자체가 프로세스라 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 서비스 경쟁력 향상을 위한 방안으로 프로세스 혁신을 활용한다. 서비스 프로세스 혁신을 상품의 특성(유형과 무형)과 혁신 대상(신 프로세스 설계와 기존 프로세스 개선)에 따라 4가지 타입으로 구분하며, 각 타입별로 다양한 사례를 제시하고 이를 토대로 구체적인 경쟁력 향상 방안을 제안한다.

웹 기반 제품정보관리 교육 서비스 (A Web Based Training Service for Product Data Management)

  • This paper proposed a Web-based training service for product data management by supporting an integrated product data management system, various technical documents. and efficient communication systems. It also supports a general product development process and a consistent product data model that enable participants to experience management of consistent product information during the product development life cycle. The Web based environment of the service also provides participants with a collaborative workplace with other participants and a Web portal for all the components of the service.

  • Many customers are no longer satisfied with mass-produced goods. They are demanding customization and rapid delivery of innovative products. Many companies are now realizing that the best way to reduce life cycle costs is to evolve a more effective product development paradigm using Internet and web based technologies. Yet there remains a gap between current market demands and product development paradigms. The existing CAD systems require that product developers possess all the design analysis tools in-house making it impractical to employ all the needed and newest tools. Hence, this paper addresses how assembly operation analysis can be embedded transparently and remotely into a service-oriented collaborative assembly design environment. A new assembly operation analysis framework is introduced and a relevant architecture and tools are developed to realize the framework. Instead of the current sequential process for verifying and validating an assembly design, a new Virtual Assembly Analysis (VAA) method is introduced in the paper to predict the various effects of joining during actual collaborative design. As a case study, arc welding and riveting processes are investigated. New service-oriented VAA architecture and its VAA components are proposed and implemented on prototype mechanical assemblies.

온라인 기반의 패키징 IT 서비스를 위한 패키징 디자인 사양 설계 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of the Packaging Specification Design System Based on Web Online Packaging IT Service)

  • Although the specification of packaging box is one of the most important process to be considered before deciding cost in terms of production and logistics, there are no efficient services in our country at this time as such the making decision only through the empirical knowledge. In this research, we have developed the packaging specification design system based on the web online packaging IT service. The developed system was advanced from the existing-inefficient process of deciding the specification of packaging box, and which can decide the specification of packaging box considering the efficiency of logistics through use of IT based tool. Therefore, this study shows applied cases of normalized packaging process through the obtained packaging design simulation program. The packaging specification design system can provide the simulation and user interface. Those could calculate the specification of packaging box(packaging box size, packaging box quantity, packaging box pattern, packaging compressive strength, packaging cost etc.) considering the efficiency of logistics.

Brand Fandom Dynamic Analysis Framework based on Customer Data in Online Communities

  • Brand fandom refers to a collection of consumers with strong emotions toward a brand. Studying the dynamics of brand fandom can help brands understand which services or strategies influence their consumers to become a part of brand fandom. However, existing literature on fandom in the last three decades has mainly used qualitative methods, and there is still a lack of research on fandom using quantitative methods. Specifically, previous studies lack a framework for locating fandoms from online textual data and analyzing their dynamics. This study proposes a framework for exploring brand fandom dynamics based on online textual data. This framework consists of four phases based on the design thinking model: Preparing Data, Defining Fandom Categories, Generating Fandom Dynamics, and Analyzing Fandom Dynamics. This framework uses techniques such as social network analysis and process mining, combined with brand personality theory. We demonstrate the applicability of this framework using case studies of two Korean home appliance brands. The dataset contains 14,593 posts by consumers in 374 online communities. The results show that the proposed framework can analyze brand fandom dynamics using textual customer data. Our study contributes to the interdisciplinary research at the intersection of data-driven service design and consumer culture quantification.
