  • The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is now placing emphasis on the importance of a new and renewable energy resource map service as an essential means of promoting the dissemination and adoption of renewable energy and other related industrial activities. To raise satisfaction with the new and renewable energy resource map service and promote its utilization, a survey was conducted on a sample group with an academic research background, i.e. employees of the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) who have a thorough understanding of the technological concepts behind the new and renewable energy resource map. Statistical analysis of the survey results showed a high level of overall satisfaction with the web service for the new and renewable energy resource map. Therefore, it was concluded that the development of practical contents rather than the enhancement of web service convenience is required. A statistically significant trend was also observed whereby, the longer the professional career of the survey respondents, the greater their perception and utilization of, and satisfaction with, the enhanced service, which indicates that their level of understanding and utilization of technological concepts corresponds to their research experience record. In addition, the results obtained from the questionnaires regarding the evaluation of the utilization value of the resource map service indicated that use of the service was equally high in terms of political, business and academic applications. The results confirmed the need to develop multidimensional resource map contents that can be applied to as many fields as possible, rather than focusing on a specific terrain.

  • Telematics, one of the so-called New Growth Engine of IT839, is a leading IT service where wireless internet service represented by information and mobility is extended to the area of transportations to provide Telematics service. The killer-application of Telematics is navigation system. Recently, due to the mass storage conversion, the performance of the terminal and mobile communications technology development, navigation system is also changed. It more and more develops into 3D in a preexistence 2D map. In the future, it is expected to include the remote sensing map. There is also the characteristic of all the information expressed in frequently a change partially happening. That is, POI(Point Of Interest) which is freshly registered or is deleted is many. In a preexistence, MCP(Map Contents Providers) offer the new version map by off-line monthly or quarterly. And a user wastes time and is inconvenient because of updating the total map by the off-line. Thus, in this paper, in order to resolve this, we describe MCP-MAUS(Maus Air Update Server) interface for updating only the partial map that was changed.

  • The quality of navigation service is determined by the accuracy of the available data. For existing navigation services, a full map update is provided in order to keep the map data of mobile devices current. As content and services of mobile devices have recently been diversifying, the size of map data managed in mobile devices has increased, reaching several gigabytes in size. It generally takes tens of minutes to write several gigabytes of data into mobile device storage. For traditional navigation systems, a complicated storage structure called a physical storage format (PSF) is used to assure maximum processing performance of map data in mobile devices within limited resources. Consequently, even though modified navigation map data actually affects only a portion of a map, the full map data is updated because partial updates are not possible. In this paper, a navigation system is studied to solve this difficult partial map update problem. The map air update navigation system, which is the result of this study, provides real-time partial map updating using wireless communications.

  • The service that has recently come into the spotlight utilizes the map to first approach the map and then provide various mash-up formed results through the interface. This service can provide precise information to the users but the map is barely reusable. The sketch-map system of this paper, unlike the existing large map system, uses the method of presenting the specific spot and route in XML document and then clustering among sketch-maps. The map service system is designed to show the optimum route to the destination in a simple outline map. It is done by renovating the spot presented by the map into optimum contents. This service system, through the process of analyzing, splitting and clustering of the sketch-map's XML document input, creates a valid form of a sketch-map. It uses the LCS(Longest Common Subsequence) algorithm for splitting and merging sketch-map in the process of query. In addition, the simulation of this system's expected effects is provided. It shows how the maps that share information and knowledge assemble to form a large map and thus presents the system's ability and role as a new research portal.

  • The emergence of cloud has been able to provide a variety of IT service to the user. As organizations and companies are increased that provide these cloud service, many problems arises on integration. However, with the advent of latest technologies such as big data, document-oriented database, and MapReduce, this problem can be easily solved. This paper is intended to design the Cloud Aggregator to provide them as a service to collect information of the cloud system providing each service. To do this, we use the DBaaS(DataBase as a Service) and MapReduce techniques. This makes it possible to maintain the functionality of existing system and correct the problem that may occur depending on the combination.

  • For the electronic map service by wireless, the existing map database cannot be used directly. This is because, the data volume of a map is too big to transfer by wireless and although the map is transferred successfully, the devices to display the map usually don’t have enough resources as the ones for desktop computers. It is also not acceptable to construct map database for the exclusive use of wireless service because of the vast cost. We propose new technique to generate a map for wireless service dynamically, from the existing map database. This technique includes the generalization method to reduce the map data volume and filtering method to guarantee that the data volume don’t exceed the limit of bandwidth. The generalization is performed in 3 steps :ㅁ step of merging the layers, a step of reducing the size of spatial objects, and a step of processing user interface. The filtering is performed by 2 module, counter and selector module. The counter module checks whether the data blume of generated map by generalization, exceeds the bandwidth limit. The selector module eliminates the excess objects and selects the rest, on the basis of distance.

  • A prototype of OGC Web Map Service and Web Feature Service is developed by NEC Aerospace Systems, Ltd. under the contract from NASDA and RESTEC. The server provides satellite imagery data taken by JERS-1 and ADEOS satellite, via OGC interfaces to the client. The related features are also available to the client through the Internet with OGC interfaces. The imagery, map and feature data is handled layer by layer at the client. OGC Web Map Service and Web Feature Service interoperability capability and applicability to Digital Asia Network are demonstrated.

  • Recently, tthe general users' demand on utilizing spatial information and the establishment of national spatial data such as land cover map are increasingly growing. But the lack of spatial information service for the general public is making it difficult for them to use spatial information and services. In this study, spatial information service strategies based on the concept of atlas, which is familiar to us through the student atlas, were proposed to promote the public users' utilization of land cover map. For this purpose, I reviewed current domestic status and overseas cases of land cover map service and proposed the future direction of spatial information service for land cover map in terms of contents, users, and system. Finally, I defined the basic concept, characteristics and functions of the Atlas Information System and recommended strategies for environmental spatial information service. The results of this study can be applied to various national spatial information as well as land cover map and contribute to the increase of general public users' utilization of national spatial data.

  • In this study, we present how to improve the current seismic disaster information service by utilizing Shake, which can express the effects of earthquakes in the form of isolines. Using ShakeMap software provided by the U.S. Geological Survey, an automated rapid ShakeMap generation system was implemented, and based on this, an earthquake disaster information service improvement model was presented to identify earthquake risk in the form of intensity or peak ground acceleration. In order to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the improved model, the seismic disaster information service app. was developed and operated on a trial basis in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do. As a result of the operation, it was found that more detailed seismic risk information could be provided by providing information using rapid ShakeMap to induce users' safety behavior more effectively.
