  • This study was conducted to identify the differences in service quality between Incheon and Kimpo international airports and critical factors influencing satisfaction of their customers. According to the results of the study, all service quality factors of Incheon international airport except the service factor of geographical location were better than those of Kimpo international airport. However, all service quality factors of the two airports were evaluated inferior to those of American, western European and Japanese international airports. In addition the service quality factors such as response, safety, airport facility and geographical location were found as critical factors influencing satisfaction of the airport customers. The service quality factor of geographical location of Incheon international airport was measured much inferior comparing with other service quality factors. Thus, the results of this study suggest that the Korean government deliberate and benchmark the international airports of western Europe and the USA in determining the geographical location when planning new international airports.

To explore the important factors of customer choice to marine transportation service, this study empirically examines the influence of these selection factors; service provision area, price competitiveness, corporate image, service expertise, and sales support, on transaction continuity through customers' perceived service value and satisfaction. Based on an online survey with those in the Korean marine transportation industry, this study conducted statistical analyses using structural equation modeling. Based on relevant previous studies, the current study constructed a total of 55 survey questions. Finally, 213 questionnaires were collected. Among the five selection factors, corporate image did not affect perceived service value, and price competitiveness was still the most important factor. However, service expertise and sales support were found to be more important factors than regional factors. In order to maintain transaction continuity, shipping companies should also strive to improve their service quality to their customers. In particular, service quality strategies focused on time and regional factors should develop to strategies with the key factors for the changed business environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the detailed customer satisfaction and dissatisfaction factors of family restaurants in Korea, and to then classify the factors into 3 groups, inlcuding core service, quality service, and basic service. ‘Core service’ represents the critical factors that generate both satisfaction and dissatisfaction; ‘quality service’ generates only satisfaction; and ‘basic service’ generates only dissatisfaction. This categorization is based on Herzberg’s motivation-hygiene theory (1976) as well as Cadotte & Turgeon (1988). Based on the characteristics of the three groups, differentiation strategies in managing customer service were suggested to the family restaurant managers. A qualitative research method, termed the critical incident technique (CIT), was used in the study. This method helps researchers find new factors or attributes by grouping key issues from the anecdotes (critical incidents) and then categorizing common factors from the key issues. This research categorized key satisfiers and dissatisfiers into 33 factors, which were from 402 critical incidents described by 261 respondents. Eleven factors (response to service failures, food taste and quality, attention paid to customers, coupon/mileage point/discount card, customer’s ordinary requests, waiting, food diversity, food price, facility sanitation, checking out, customer’s special requests) were classified into core service, which required maximum management not regarding the level of customer satisfaction. Six factors (employee attitude, event, education and explanation, complementary food, customer’s mistakes, attention paid to children) were classified into quality service, which required differentiation strategy management. Finally, nine factors (speed of food service, employee’s mistakes, food sanitation, atmosphere and interior, seating, forcing orders, parking, other customers, reservations) were classified into basic service, which required minimum management at the level of the industry standards.

  • Recently, the growth of e-Learning systems and its related information technology has presented a unique challenge for both schools and industry. It would make an extremely phenomenal paradigm shift in the educational method and practice. Methods of assessing the quality of e-teaming services and contents are critical issue in both practice and research. Moreover, many researchers are interested in what qualify factors more affect to the Performance of e-Learning service. Nevertheless, service quality is a construct that is difficult to define and measure. e-Learning services are composed of many factors, and they are more complicated than the traditional education services because they we performed on the distance basis and the many platforms of IT infrastructure. The purposes of our research are to classify the e-Learning service dimension and identify their factors, to develop the measurement of the factors, and finally to test empirically their relationship between the service factors and e-Learning service performance. For the development of the service factors we considered SERVQUAL model and SERVPERF model which were developed in the service marketing area. The SERVQUAL model was more fitted to the e-Learning services than the latter. From that we derived several factors that fit to our research domain, ie, tangibles, access, reliability, credibility, security, responsiveness, assurance, empathy. We combined three factors of them(reliability, credibility, security) into a factor, system stability for the semantic simplicity, and divided responsiveness factor into system operator responsiveness and teacher responsiveness as the entity based dimension classification. In the e-Learning services research, Most researcher are mentioned the quality factors of contents, so we added to two contents quality factors, ie, contents production method and richness of contents itself. We examined the relationship between the service quality factors and e-Learning performance(student satisfaction and service reuse intention). As result three quality factors(contents production method, teacher responsiveness, empathy) significantly affected student satisfaction. To the other performance variable, ie, service reuse intention, the teacher related quality factors(such as teacher responsiveness, assurance, empathy) affected only. In conclusion, even in the on-line distance teaming, the teacher's role md earnestness is as important as ever.
