  • Serial extraction procedure, when cautiouly practiced in severe discrepancy case, can be a good clinical approach, but the treatment planning must always be based on accurate analysis of all conditions, especially patient's individual growth pattern and his family development. It is most difficult to determine the timing and selection of most effective sequence of deciduout extraction. It is the best candidate that patient is with class I malocclusion with harmony of the skeletal and muscular system and severe discrepancy of the tooth system. The authors have observed a female, who has complained of the malalignment of mandibular permanent incisor teeth. Serial extraction has been performed to relieve it through adequate various informations and resulted in a fairly good prognosis.

Application of a Deep Learning Method on Aerial Orthophotos to Extract Land Categories

  • The automatic land category extraction method was proposed, and the accuracy was evaluated by learning the aerial photo characteristics by land category in the border area with various restrictions on the acquisition of geospatial data. As experimental data, this study used four years' worth of published aerial photos as well as serial cadastral maps from the same time period. In evaluating the results of land category extraction by learning features from different temporal and spatial ranges of aerial photos, it was found that land category extraction accuracy improved as the temporal and spatial ranges increased. Moreover, the greater the diversity and quantity of provided learning images, the less the results were affected by the quality of images at a specific time to be extracted, thus generally demonstrating accurate and practical land category feature extraction.

  • In this paper, a parallel cell contour line extraction algorithm using CUDA, which has no inner contour lines, is proposed. The contour of a cell is very important in a cell image analysis. It could be obtained by a conventional serial contour tracing algorithm or parallel morphology operation. However, the cell image has various damages in acquisition or dyeing process. They could be turn into several inner contours, which make a cell image analysis difficult. The proposed algorithm introduces a min-max coordinates table into each CUDA thread block, and removes the inner contour in parallel. It is 4.1 to 7.6 times faster than a conventional serial contour tracing algorithm.

  • PCI Express is high-speed point-to-point serial protocol, the system is designed by analysing loss and jitter through Eye Diagram. It is necessarily analyzing high speed serial signals when the PCI Express Gen3 which has 8Gbps physical signal speed is designed especially. This paper deals with topology extraction, channel analysis, extraction of s-parameters and system signal integrity simulation within transceiver buffer models through PCI Express Gen3 server connecting switch system design. Optimal parameters of transmitter buffer equalizer are found through solution space simulation of de-emphasis and preshoot parameters to compensate channel loss.

Strategic serial extractions and immediate implantation for interdental papilla preservation: A case report (치간 유두 보존을 위한 전략적 연속발치술과 즉시 임플란트 식립: 증례보고)

  • Maintaining the blood supply of the interdental alveolar bone is crucial for preserving the interdental papilla. Rebuilding the interimplant papilla between adjacent implants is more difficult than rebuilding the interdental papilla between the natural tooth and implant. Therefore, preserving the interimplant tissue is necessary when adjacent implants are closely placed. In this case report, three effective methods for maintaining the surrounding tissue, namely strategic serial extraction, immediate implantation, and provisionalization of adjacent maxillary central incisors, were performed. The marginal gingiva and interimplant papilla were well maintained for 24 months.

  • One of the most difficult tasks in the process of automatic vehicle license plate recognition is the extraction of each character from within license plate region. In many cases, characters, especially serial numbers of plates are connected together due to noise and plate accessories. The recognition process may not be successful without extracting these characters effectively. This paper presents an algorithm to extract these connected characters very effectively. The algorithm utilizes mathematical morphology, connected component analysis, and gradient filters for character extraction. The paper also presents thorough experimental results as well as details of the algorithm.

  • Among the recent security systems, security system with fingerprint recognition gets many people's interests through the strengths such as exclusiveness, convenience, etc, in comparison with other security systems. The most important matters for fingerprint recognition system are reliability of matching between the fingerprint in database and user's fingerprint and rapid process of image processing algorithms used for fingerprint recognition. The existing fingerprint recognition system reduces the processing time by removing some processes in the feature extraction algorithms but has weakness of a reliability. This paper realizes the fingerprint recognition algorithm using MAMS(Multi-Access Memory System) for both the rapid processing time and the reliability in feature extraction and matching accuracy. Reliability of this process is verified by the correlation between serial processor's results and MAMS-PP64's results. The performance of the method using MAMS-PP64 is 1.56 times faster than compared serial processor.

Optimization of Gelatin Extracting Condition from Korean Native Black Goat Skin and Quality Comparison with Commercial Gelatin

  • The practical use of Korean native black goat skin as a source of gelatin extraction is limited. The objective of this study was to optimize the extraction temperature and time of gelatin from Korean native black goat skin, and to compare the quality characteristics of goat skin gelatin and other commercial gelatin products. Response surface methodology was applied to optimize the extraction temperature and time of gelatin obtained from native Korean black goat skin. The effects of temperature (50℃-70℃) and time (2-4 h) on extraction yield and gel strength were investigated using a face-centered central composite design with 13 experiments. Gelatin extraction from Korean native black goat skin was prepared through the serial processes of alkali pre-treatment, bleaching, neutralization, hot-water extraction, and freeze-drying. Using the optimization plot of Minitab software, the optimized conditions for extracting temperature and time of goat skin gelatin were 59.49℃ and 3.03 h, and the optimized values of extraction yield and gel strength were 12.52% and 263.37 g, respectively. Based on a quality comparison of goat skin gelatin with commercial gelatin, the pH value of gelatin extracted from Korean native black goat skin was 5.57. The color of gelatin extracted from Korean native black goat skin was darker than that of commercial gelatin (p<0.05). Higher emulsifying properties and gel strength of goat skin gelatin were observed when compared to those of commercial gelatin (p<0.05). Therefore, the results of this study indicate that Korean native black goat skin may be a valuable source for gelatin extraction.

A Study of Design and Analysis on the High-Speed Serial Interface Connector (고속 직렬 인터페이스 커넥터의 설계 및 분석에 대한 연구)

  • This paper presents method of design and analysis of a high-speed serial interface connector with a data rate of 12.5 Gbps. A high-speed serial interface connector is composed of various material and complex structures. It is very difficult to match the impedance of each discontinuous portion of connector. Therefore, this paper proposes the structure of a connector line that be simplified a connector. In the structure of proposed connector line, this research presents a method for extracting R, L, C and G parameters, analyzing the differential mode impedance, and minimizing the impedance discontinuity using time domain transmissometry and time domain reflectometry. This paper applies the proposed methods in the connector line to the high-speed serial interface connector. The proposed high-speed serial interface connector, which consists of forty-four pins, is analyzed signal transmission characteristics by changing the width and spacing of the four pins. According to the analysis result, as the width of the ground pin increases, the impedance decreases slightly. And as the distance between the ground pin and the signal pin increases, the impedance increases. In addition, as the width of the signal pin increases, the impedance decreases. And as the distance between the signal pin and the signal pin increases, the impedance decreases. The impedance characteristic of initial connector presents ranges from 96 to $139{\Omega}$. Impedance characteristic after applying the structure of proposed connector is shown as a value between 92.6 to $107.5{\Omega}$. This value satisfies the design objective $100{\Omega}{\pm}10%$.

A Study on the Performance of Parallelepiped Classification Algorithm (평행사변형 분류 알고리즘의 성능에 대한 연구)

  • Remotely sensed data is the most fundamental data in acquiring the GIS informations, and may be analyzed to extract useful thematic information. Multi-spectral classification is one of the most often used methods of information extraction. The actual multi-spectral classification may be performed using either supervised or unsupervised approaches. This paper analyze the effect of assigning clever initial values to image classes on the performance of parallelepiped classification algorithm, which is one of the supervised classification algorithms. First, we investigate the effect on serial computing model, then expand it on MIMD(Multiple Instruction Multiple Data) parallel computing model. On serial computing model, the performance of the parallel pipe algorithm improved 2.4 times at most and, on MIMD parallel computing model the performance improved about 2.5 times as clever initial values are assigned to image class. Through computer simulation we find that initial values of image class greatly affect the performance of parallelepiped classification algorithms, and it can be improved greatly when classes on both serial computing model and MIMD parallel computation model.
