  • In this paper, some of the issue about a group sequential method are considered in the Bayesian context. The continuous time optimal stopping boundary can be used to approximate the optimal stopping boundary for group sequential designs. The exact stopping boundary for group sequential design is obtained by using the backward induction method and is compared with the continuous optimal stopping boundary and the corrected continuous stopping boundary.

  • Recently, with the advances in sensor techniques and net work computing, Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) has been received a lot of attentions from various communities. The sensor nodes distributed in the sensor network tend to continuously generate a large amount of data, which is called stream data. Sensor stream data arrives in an online manner so that it is characterized as high-speed, real-time and unbounded and it requires fast data processing to get the up-to-date results. The data stream has many application domains such as traffic analysis, physical distribution, U-healthcare and so on. Therefore, there is an overwhelming need of a USN middleware for processing such online stream data to provide corresponding services to diverse applications. In this paper, we propose a novel USN middleware which can provide users both context-aware service and meaningful sequential patterns. Our proposed USN middleware is mainly focused on location based applications which use stream location data. We also show the implementation of our proposed USN middleware. By using the proposed USN middleware, we can save the developing cost of providing context aware services and stream sequential patterns mainly in location based applications.

  • Increasing interest and technological advances in smart home has led to active research on context-awareness service and prediction algorithms such as Bayesian Networks, Tree-Dimensional Structures and Genetic prediction algorithms. Context-awareness service presents that providing automatic customized service regarding individual user's pattern surely helps users improve the quality of life. However, it is difficult to implement context-awareness service because the problems are that handling coincidence with context information and exceptional cases have to consider. To overcome this problem, we proposes an Intelligent Sequential Matching Algorithm(ISMA), models context-awareness service using Timed Petri-net(TPN) which is petri-net to have time factor. The example scenario illustrates the effectiveness of the Timed Petri-net model and our proposed algorithm improves average 4~6% than traditional in the accuracy and reliability of prediction.

  • The classical HMM is defined by a parameter triple = (, A, B), where each parameter represents a collection of probability distributions: initial state, state transition and output distributions in order. This paper proposes a new stationary parameter e = (e1, e2, …, eN) where N is the number of states and et = P(|xt = i, y) for describing how an input pattern y ends in state xt = i at time t followed by nothing. It is often said that all is well that ends well. We argue here that all should end well. The paper sets the framework for the theory and presents an efficient inference and training algorithms based on dynamic programming and expectation-maximization. The proposed model is applicable to analyzing any sequential data with two or more finite segmental patterns are concatenated, each forming a context to its neighbors. Experiments on online Hangul handwriting characters have proven the effect of the proposed augmentation in terms of highly intuitive segmentation as well as recognition performance and 13.2% error rate reduction.

  • The purpose of this study is to design and develop a computer based learning and test system, which supports not only testing learner's ability but also learning contents with giving feedback and hint. In order to design and develop a computer based learning and test system, Visual Basic dot Net software is used. The system works in three stages: sequential problem solving stage, randomized problem solving stage, and the challenge stage of pass/fail. The results of this study are as follows: (a) We propose the context of design for the computer based learning and test system. (b) We design and develop items display function with sequential and random algorithm in this system. (c) We design and develop pass/fail function by applying SPRT(Sequential Probability Ratio Testing) algorithm in the computer based learning and test system.

  • Generally, sequential data refers to data having continuity. Text data, which is a representative type of unstructured data, is also sequential data in that it is necessary to know the meaning of the preceding word in order to know the meaning of the following word or context. So far, many techniques for analyzing sequential data such as text data have been proposed. In this paper, four methods of 1d-CNN, LSTM, BiLSTM, and C-LSTM are introduced, focusing on neural network techniques. In addition, by using this, IMDb movie review data was classified into two classes to compare the performance of the techniques in terms of accuracy and analysis time.

  • Ubiquitous system requires intelligent environment and system that perceives context in a proactive manner. This paper describes proactive retrieval method using context patterns in ubiquitous computing. And as the user's contexts change, new information is delivered proactively based on user's context patterns. For proactive retrieval, we extract context patterns based on sequential pattern discovery and association rule in data mining. By storing only information to be needed in near future using the context patterns, we solved the problem of speed and storage capacity of mobile devices in ubiquitous computing. We explain algorithms and an example. Several experiments are performed and the experimental results show that our method has a good information retrieval.

  • This paper focuses on the prediction algorithm among the context-awareness technologies. With a representative algorithm, Bayesian Networks, it is difficult to realize a context-aware as well as to decrease process time in real-time environment. Moreover, it is also hard to be sure about the accuracy and reliability of prediction. One of the simplest algorithms is the sequential matching algorithm. We use it by adding the proposed Cache Scheme. It is adequate for a context-aware service adapting user's habit and reducing the processing time by average 48.7% in this paper. Thus, we propose a design method of user location prediction algorithm that uses sequential matching with the cache scheme by taking user's habit or behavior into consideration. The novel approach will be dealt in a different way compared to the conventional prediction algorithm.

  • Speech recognition has recently been investigated to produce more reliable recognition results in a noisy environment, by integrating diverse sources of information into the result derivation-level or producing new results through post-processing the prior recognition results. In this paper we propose a method which uses the user's usage patterns and the context information in speech command recognition for personal mobile devices to improve the recognition accuracy in a noisy environment. Sequential usage (or speech) patterns prior to the current command spoken are used to adjust the base recognition results. For the context information, we use the relevance between the current function of the device in use and the spoken command. Our experiment results show that the proposed method achieves about 50% of error correction rate over the base recognition system. It demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed method.
