  • In order to design and construct a safe and economic underground structure, it is essential to understand the structural behavior of underground openings considering the effect of the sequential excavation. Therefore, this paper includes the study of initial stress distribution before excavation and stress redistribution due to the sequential excavation. And discussion on numerical simulation techniques for the sequential excavation is also included. Then, the underground structure is analyzed using the finite element and distinct element methods of analysis considering the effect of the sequential excavation. Based on the results of the analysis, the followings are discussed: shape of the openings, effect and timing of structural reinforcements. methods and sequence of excavation.

순차 단순모델을 이용한 전체 인장교정 공정의 탄소성 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Elasto-plastic Analysis of a Full Tension Levelling Process using Sequential Unit Models)

  • The tension levelling process is performed to elongate the strip plastically in combination of tensile and bending strain so that all longitudinal fibers in the strip have an approximately equal amount of length and undesirable strip shapes are corrected to the flat shape. This paper is concerned with a simulation of the tension levelling process based on the analysis of the unit model for the tension leveller. Analysis technique such as the sequential analysis of the nit model is suggested and verified with the assembly analysis of the unit model for the effective and economic analysis of the full set of the tension leveller. Analysis of the full tension levelling process using sequential unit models is carried out and provides the effect of the intermesh and optimum amount of the intermesh in tension levelling process.

Self-adaptive sampling for sequential surrogate modeling of time-consuming finite element analysis

  • This study presents a new approach of surrogate modeling for time-consuming finite element analysis. A surrogate model is widely used to reduce the computational cost under an iterative computational analysis. Although a variety of the methods have been widely investigated, there are still difficulties in surrogate modeling from a practical point of view: (1) How to derive optimal design of experiments (i.e., the number of training samples and their locations); and (2) diagnostics of the surrogate model. To overcome these difficulties, we propose a sequential surrogate modeling based on Gaussian process model (GPM) with self-adaptive sampling. The proposed approach not only enables further sampling to make GPM more accurate, but also evaluates the model adequacy within a sequential framework. The applicability of the proposed approach is first demonstrated by using mathematical test functions. Then, it is applied as a substitute of the iterative finite element analysis to Monte Carlo simulation for a response uncertainty analysis under correlated input uncertainties. In all numerical studies, it is successful to build GPM automatically with the minimal user intervention. The proposed approach can be customized for the various response surfaces and help a less experienced user save his/her efforts.

Minimization of differential column shortening and sequential analysis of RC 3D-frames using ANN

  • In the preliminary design stage of an RC 3D-frame, repeated sequential analyses to determine optimal members' sizes and the investigation of the parameters required to minimize the differential column shortening are computational effort consuming, especially when considering various types of loads such as dead load, temperature action, time dependent effects, construction and live loads. Because the desired accuracy at this stage does not justify such luxury, two backpropagation feedforward artificial neural networks have been proposed in order to approximate this information. Instead of using a commercial software package, many references providing advanced principles have been considered to code a program and generate these neural networks. The first one predicts the typical amount of time between two phases, needed to achieve the minimum maximorum differential column shortening. The other network aims to prognosticate sequential analysis results from those of the simultaneous analysis. After the training stages, testing procedures have been carried out in order to ensure the generalization ability of these respective systems. Numerical cases are studied in order to find out how good these ANN match with the sequential finite element analysis. Comparison reveals an acceptable fit, enabling these systems to be safely used in the preliminary design stage.

Design of Microstrip Array Antenna with Three-Element Sequential-Rotation Subarray for DBS

  • The LHCP circularly polarized antenna operating at DBS band is developed by employing the sequential-rotation technique in which each subarray is comprised the three truncated-corner patch square element. Antenna designed with sequentially-related technique whose M=3, p=2 has the effect of improved axial-ratio bandwidth, cross-polarization etc. And it is proved that the degradation of radiation pattern can be reduced significantly by minimizing the radiation loss of feeding line structure. Antenna designed shows extremely low side lobe level of below - 25 dB in the diagonal plane and cross-polarization level of below -20 dB in the all plane. And these performances comply with the array antenna specification for DBS.

발생 간격 기반 가중치 부여 기법을 활용한 데이터 스트림에서 가중치 순차패턴 탐색 (Finding Weighted Sequential Patterns over Data Streams via a Gap-based Weighting Approach)

  • 일반적인 순차패턴 마이닝에서는 분석 대상 데이터 집합에 포함되는 구성요소의 발생 순서만을 고려하며, 따라서 단순 순차패턴은 쉽게 찾을 수 있는 반면 실제 응용 분야에서 널리 활용될 수 있는 관심도가 큰 순차패턴을 탐색하는데 한계가 있다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위한 대표적인 연구 주제들 중의 하나가 가중치 순차패턴 탐색이다. 가중치 순차패턴 탐색에서는 관심도가 큰 순차패턴을 얻기 위해서 구성요소의 단순 발생 순서 뿐만 아니라 구성요소의 가중치를 추가로 고려한다. 본 논문에서는 발생 간격에 기반 한 순차패턴 가중치 부여 기법 및 이를 활용한 순차 데이터 스트림에 대한 가중치 순차패턴 탐색 방법을 제안한다. 발생 간격 기반 가중치는 사전에 정의된 별도의 가중치 정보를 필요로 하지 않으며 순차정보를 구성하는 구성요소들의 발생 간격으로부터 구해진다. 즉, 순차패턴의 가중치를 구하는데 있어서 구성요소의 발생순서와 더불어 이들의 발생 간격을 고려하며, 따라서 보다 관심도가 크고 유용한 순차패턴을 얻는데 도움이 된다. 한편, 근래 대부분의 컴퓨터 응용 분야에서는 한정적인 데이터 집합 형태가 아닌 데이터 스트림 형태로 정보를 발생시키고 있다. 이와 같은 데이터 생성 환경의 변화를 고려하여 본 논문에서는 순차 데이터 스트림을 마이닝 대상으로 고려하였다.

Performance of structural-concrete members under sequential loading and exhibiting points of inflection

  • The article reports data on, and numerical modelling of, beams exhibiting points of inflection and subjected to sequential loading. Both tests and analysis point to inadequacies in current codes of practice. An alternative design methodology, which is strongly associated with the notion that contraflexure points should be designed as "internal supports", is shown to produce superior performance even though it requires significantly less secondary reinforcement than that advocated by codes.

유한요소법과 운동방정식의 결합에 의한 운동체의 특성 해석 (Analysis of Moving Body Characteristics by Coupling Finite Element Method and Motion Equation)

  • 전기 기계의 운동 특성을 정확히 해석하기 위해서는 해석모델의 전자장방정식과 운동방정식이 함께 고려되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 자장내에서 두 개의 스프링에 의해 진동 운동을 하는 도체를 해석함에 있어 순차적인 결합방법을 채책하였다. 한 시점에서 속도가 주어지면 전자장해석 및 유도전류 계산은 유한요소법을 이용하였고, 그때마다 전자력을 게산하였다. 또한 전자장방정식이 풀린다음 4차 runge-kutta 미분방정식 해법을 이용하여 운동방정식과 결합하였다. 위의 과정을 순차적으로 계속 반복함으로써 시간에 대한 위치, 속도, 유도전류 및 전자력을 알아내어 운동체의 운동특성을 알아보았다. 계산된 결과는 에너지보존 법칙에 적용하여 제안한 순차적인 결합방법의 유용성을 검증하였다.
