  • The convergence of the power sequence of an $n{\times}n$ fuzzy matrix has been studied. Some theoretical necessary and sufficient con-ditions have been established for the power sequence to be convergent generally. Furthermore as one of our main concerns the convergence index was studied in detail especially for some special types of Boolean matrices. Also it has been established that the convergence index is bounded by $(n-1)^2+1$ from above for an arbitrary $n{\times}n$ fuzzy matrix if its power sequence converges. Our method is concentrated on the limit behavior of the power se-quence. It helped us to make our proofs be simpler and more direct that those in pure algebraic methods.

  • We report for the first time the cDNA sequence encoding a ferritin subunit from the spiders Araneus ventricosus. The complete cDNA sequence of A. ventricosus ferritin subunit comprised 516 bp with 172 amino acid residues. The A. ventricosus ferritin subunit cDNA contained a conserved iron responsive element sequence in the 5 untranslated region. An alignment of the deduced protein sequence of the A. ventricosus ferritin subunit gene to that of other heavy chain ferritin molecules showed that A. ventricosus ferritin subunit is most similar to the great pond snail, Lymnaea stagnalis, ferritin with 70.2% of protein sequence identity.

  • Dr. Ranganathan's "Principles for Helpful Sequence" among the set of normative principles play an exclusive role in the arrangement of subject isolates. Each subject in the universe of subjects is regulated by a guiding principle of its own which analogously determines the sequence of Arrays in ordering the subject surrogates or isolates. For example, the "Principle of Later-in-Evolution" is applied for sequencing isolates of Animal and Plant Species; this concept can be applied to one of the tools of KOS viz. Taxonomies. The application of Principles for Helpful Sequence is summarily presented and in the process the paper highlights the inherent elements of knowledge organization in each one of these principles in a manner that might map the future course of research in this area with the potentiality to bring about a relation between principles for helpful sequence and KOS.

  • A gene (xynA) encoding the endo-xylanase (E.C.3.2.1.8) from Bacillus stearothermophilus was cloned in E. coli, and its complete nucleotide sequence was determined. The xynA gene consists of a 636 base pairs open reading frame coding for a protein of 212 amino acids with a deduced molecular weight of 23, 283 Da. A putative signal sequence of 27 amino acid residues shows the features comparable with the Bacillus signal sequences; namely, the signal contains a positively charged region close to the N-terminus followed by a long hydrophobic string. The coding sequence is preceded by a possible ribosome binding site with a free energy value of -16.6 kcal/mol and the transcription initiation signals are located further upstream. The translation termination codon (TAA) at the 3 end of the coding sequence is followed by two palindrome sequences, one of which is thought to act as a terminator. The xynA gene has a high GC content, especially in the wobble position of codons (64%). Comparison of the primary protein sequence with those of other xylanases shows a high homology to the xylanases belonging to family G.

  • To save time and cost in assembly process and to improve th quality of products, it is very important to choose and optimal assembly sequence. In this paper, we propose a methodology that generates an optimal assembly sequence by using various methods and the knowledge of experts. To illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology, a knowledge-based system is developed, The built system is applied to the case of UBR(Unit Bath Room). The applying result showed the applicability of the developed system.

  • The nascent from of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored proteins possesses both amino and carboxy terminal hydrophobic signal sequences to direct processing in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Following cleavage of the amino-terminal signal peptide, the carboxy-terminal peptide is processed. Previously, mouse lymphocyte NDA: agrinine ADP-ribosyltransferase (Yac-1) was cloned and the deduced amino acid sequence of the Yac-1 transferase contained hydrophobic amino and carboxy termini, consistent with known signal sequences of GPI-anchored proteins. This tranferase was present on the surface of NMU (rat mammary adenocarcinoma) cells transfected with the wildtype cDNA and was released with phosphatidylinositol-specific phosphilpase C. Expression of the mutant protein, lacking the carboxy terminal hydrophobic sequence, resulted in the peoduction of soluble, secreted from of the transferase. This result shows that carboxy terminal sequence is important for GPI-attachment.

  • 1-Dimensional Cluster-Based Sequence Equalizer(1-D CBSE) lessens computational load, compared with the classic maximum likelihood sequence estimation(MLSE) equalizers, and has the superiority in the nonlinear channels. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm of searching for optimal training sequence that estimates the cluster centers instead of time-varying multipath fading channel estimation. The proposed equalizer not only resolved the problems in 1-D CBSE but also improved the bandwidth efficiency using the shorten length of taming sequence to improve bandwidth efficiency. In experiments, the superiority of the new method is demonstrated by comparing conventional 1-D CBSE and related analysis.

  • While developing a complex reactive software system. it is very important to analyze the user requirement and reflect it to the developed system. Therefore understanding the need of users precisely and promptly is the key to the successful software system development. Among several requirement specification languages, message sequence charts (MSCs), also known as sequence diagrams in UML are the most widely used scenario notation. Live Sequence Charts (LSCs) are a variant ot MSCs, characterized by its message abstraction facility and the modality of scenarios. In this paper, I define the formal semantics of LSC specification including the essential language constructs such as pre-charts, variables, assignment and conditions. The range of the formalized LSC language has been broadened, and the scope of the formalized semantics is much closer to the complete LSC specification.

  • The deformities of micrognathia and glossoptosis in the newborn are frequently associated with a cleft palate, which is known as Pierre Robin sequence. Upper airway obstruction is the most serious problem in these patients. Treatment of Pierre Robin sequence includes either positional or surgical intervention. Mild cases are often managed in the prone position. However, when the patient fails to thrive due to chronic upper airway obstruction, or severe respiratory distress ensures despite positional treatment, surgical intervention is mandatory to relieve the obstruction. We experienced three infants with Pierre Robin sequence who showed a symptom triad of micrognathia, glossoptosis, and cleft palate. Intermittent cyanosis, depression of the chest, respiratory difficulty and feeding problems were also observed. To relieve severe upper airway obstruction caused by micrognathia and glossoptosis, we simultaneously performed modified tongue lip adhesion (TLA) and a subperiosteal release of the floor of the mouth (SRFM). Respiratory and feeding difficulties were relieved, the tongue positioned anteriorly, body weight increased, and mandibular growth improved. Simultaneous TLA and SRFM may constitute a simple and reliable method for surgical treatment of airway obstruction in patients with Pierre Robin sequence.

  • In order to improve the productivity and the yield at assembling line of finished goods' manufacturers, it is necessary that the fabricated parts are supplied to the assembly line not only just in time (JIT) but also just in sequence (JIS). Parts that are not delivered just in time can cause assembly line to be delayed, and parts that are not delivered just in sequence can cause assembly line to be halted or defected products. For JIT and JIS implementation, in the paper we propose the smart pallet based just-in-sequence parts delivery system in which RFID and USN technologies are converged. Compared with the bar-code based just-in-sequence parts delivery system, the proposed system can reduce unnecessary time for confirming parts' type and sequence and unnecessary cost by bar-code labeling and sequence data' documenting. The proposed system also can overcome the drawbacks of the RFID based just-in-sequence parts delivery system such as transmission range limit and difficulties of confirming parts' type and sequence in real time. Finally, we show the implementation of the proposed system, and its practicality.
