  • Consider the heteroscedastic regression model $Y_i=g(x_i)+{\sigma}_i\;{\epsilon}_i=(1{\leq}i{\leq}n)$, where ${\sigma}^2_i=f(u_i)$, the design points $(x_i,\;u_i)$ are known and nonrandom, and g and f are unknown functions defined on closed interval [0, 1]. Under the random errors $\epsilon_i$ form a sequence of NA random variables, we study the asymptotic normality of wavelet estimators of g when f is a known or unknown function.

Initial Timing Acquisition for Binary Phase-Shift Keying Direct Sequence Ultra-wideband Transmission

  • This paper presents a parallel processing searcher structure for the initial synchronization of a direct sequence ultra-wideband (DS-UWB) system, which is suitable for the digital implementation of baseband functionalities with a 1.32 Gsample/s chip rate analog-to-digital converter. An initial timing acquisition algorithm and a data demodulation method are also studied. The proposed searcher effectively acquires initial symbol and frame timing during the preamble transmission period. A hardware efficient receiver structure using 24 parallel digital correlators for binary phase-shift keying DS-UWB transmission is presented. The proposed correlator structure operating at 55 MHz is shared for correlation operations in a searcher, a channel estimator, and the demodulator of a RAKE receiver. We also present a pseudo-random noise sequence generated with a primitive polynomial, $1+x^2+x^5$, for packet detection, automatic gain control, and initial timing acquisition. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed parallel processing searcher employing the presented pseudo-random noise sequence outperforms that employing a preamble sequence in the IEEE 802.15.3a DS-UWB proposal.

  • This paper deals with an analytic design of feedback regulator and signal state estimator in discrete linear systems. On the way of developing the deadbeat regulator, some necessary conditions for control policy have been derived, it is proved that the q periods delay in the control causes q periods delay in the point at which deadbeat response occurs. We have derived some relations such that the eigenvalue of system plant can be arbitrarily changed by the characteristics of minor loop compensator which is introduced in feedback path. And also we show that the signal state estimator which estimates the state of given signal sequence must satisfy some conditions. Theorems and conclusions are described with some simplel nontrivial numerical examples and signal state tracking application problems.

  • A new frequency offset estimator using low cross-property of PN sequences is proposed in the orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) uplink systems. Simulation results show that the proposed estimator improves the mean square error (MSE) performance compared to conventional estimator [2] where each user have both different timing offset and different frequency offset. In addition, the MSE performance is improved as the length of PN sequence increases.

  • 본 논문에서는 PN(Pseudo Noise) 부호에 대한 정보 없이 확산대역 신호를 검출하는 방식을 다룬다. 이러한 검출 방식은 군용 통신에서 사용되거나 주파수 사용 영역을 관리(spectrum surveillance)하는 경우에 있어 중요하게 다루어 질 수 있다. 검출 내용은 주어진 대역폭 내에 확산대역 신호가 존재하는지의 여부, PN 부호의 길이 및 PN부호 구분(identification)이다. 고차 통계적 신호처리 기법 중 하나인 3차 상관함수는 사전 정보가 없는 확산대역 신호의 검출에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 실제 확산대역 신호를 검출하는데 있어 3차 상관함수의 결과 값만을 이용할 경우 발생하는 문제점을 지적하고, 이러한 문제점을 극복하는 동시에 성능이 향상된 확산대역 신호 검출 방식을 제안한다.

  • In this study, We derived Recursive Least Squares(RLS) algorithm with adaptive maximum -likelihood channel estimate for digital pulse amplitude modulated sequence in the presence of intersymbol interference and additive white Gaussian noise. RLS algorithms have better convergence characteristics than conventional algorithms, LMS Least Mean Squares) algorithms.

  • In this paper a platoon merging control system is considered as a remotely located system with state represented by a stochastic process. in the system it is common to encounter situations where a single decision maker controls a large number of subsystems and observation and control signals are sent over a communication channel with finite capacity and significant transmission delays. Unlike a classical estimation problem where the observation is a continuous process corrupted by additive noise there is a constraint that the observation must be coded and transmitted over a digital communication channel with fintie capacity. A recursive coder-estimator sequence is a state estimation scheme based on observations transmitted with finite communication capacity constraint. in this paper we introduce a stochastic model for the lead vehicle in a platoon of vehicles in a lane considering the angle between the road surface and a horizontal plane as a stochastic process. In order to merge two platoons the lead vehicle of the following platoon is controlled by a remote control station. Using the observation transmitted over communication channel the remote control station designs the feedback controller. The simulation results show that the intervehicle spacings and the deviations from the desired intervehicle spacing are well regulated.

BLUE-Based Channel Estimation Technique for Amplify and Forward Wireless Relay Networks

  • The best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE) is most suitable for practical application and can be determined with knowledge of only the first and second moments of the probability density function. Although the BLUE is an existing algorithm, it is still largely unexplored and has not yet been applied to channel estimation in amplify and forward (AF)-based wireless relay networks (WRNs). In this paper, a BLUE-based algorithm is proposed to estimate the overall channel impulse response between the source and destination of AF strategy-based WRNs. Theoretical mean square error (MSE) performance for the BLUE is derived to show the accuracy of the proposed channel estimation algorithm. In addition, the Cram$\acute{e}$r-Rao lower bound (CRLB) is derived to validate the MSE performance. The proposed BLUE channel estimation algorithm approaches the CRLB as the length of the training sequence and number of relays increases. Further, the BLUE performs better than the linear minimum MSE estimator due to the minimum variance characteristic exhibited by the BLUE, which happens to be a function of signal-to-noise ratio.

가변구조를 갖는 순차 예측 방법을 이용한 m 계열 신호의 고속 포착 (Rapid Acquisition of m-sequence Signals by Sequential Estimation with Flexible Structure)

  • 본 논문은 고속으로 m 계열 신호를 포착하기 위하여 가변 구조를 갖는 순차 예측 포착 시스템을 제안하고 그 성능을 분석한 것이다. 고속 포착을 위해 예측기 내부 레지스터들의 초기값으로 저장되는 수신 PN 칩(chip)들 중에 1개의 오류를 가진 경우 다수의 국부 PN 부호 발생기를 이용하여 이 오류를 정정하고 부호 포착 성능을 개선한다. 제안된 시스템에서 예측 재생된 각각의 국부 PN 부호들과 수신된 PN 부호간의 해밍 거리는 설정된 경계값과 비교되어 바른 경로일 가능성이 높은 경로 선택과 부호 포착 선언에 사용된다. 시스템의 성능을 확인하기 위해 신호 흐름도 기법을 적용하여 검출 확률과 오 경보 확률에 의해 결정되는 평균 포착 시간을 계산한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 포착 시스템은 PN 부호 포착 시스템에 일반적으로 널리 사용되는 정합 필터를 가변 구조로 변형하여 사용함으로써 효율적이고 고속으로 부호 포착을 수행할 수 있음을 보였다.
