For machining systems like the motor driven linear stage which have high precision positioning with a long stroke, it is necessary to examine the repeatability of the reference position decision. Though piezo (PZT) actuator driven linear stages have high precision feed drivers and a short stroke, they have some limitations for reference position decisions if they have not been equipped with an accurate home sensor. This study was performed to examine the repeatability for home position decision of a EE-SX671 photo sensor as a home switch by using piezo actuator driven linear stages and capacitance probe.
This paper presents an on-machine measurement method of flatness error fur surface machining processes. There are two kinds of on-machine measurement methods available to measure flatness errors in workpieces: i.e., surface scanning method and sensor scanning method. However, motion errors are often engaged in both methods. This paper proposes an idea to realize a measurement system of flatness errors and its rigorous application for estimation of motion errors of the positioning system. The measurement system is made by modifying the straightness measurement system, which consists of a laser, a CCD camera and processing system, a sensor head, and some optical units. The sensor head is composed of a retroreflector, a ball and ball socket, a linear motion guide unit and adjustable arms. The experimental .results show that the proposed method is useful to identify flatness errors of machined workpieces as well as motion errors of positioning systems.
Currently drone industry has become one of the fast growing markets and the technology for unmanned aerial vehicles are expected to continue to develop at a rapid rate. Especially small unmanned aerial vehicle systems have been designed and utilized for the various field with their own specific purposes. In these fields the path planning problem to find the shortest path between two oriented points is important. In this paper we introduce a path planning strategy for an autonomous flight of unmanned aerial vehicles through reinforcement learning with self-positioning technique. We perform Q-learning algorithm, a kind of reinforcement learning algorithm. At the same time, multi sensors of acceleraion sensor, gyro sensor, and magnetic are used to estimate the position. For the functional evaluation, the proposed method was simulated with virtual UAV environment and visualized the results. The flight history was based on a PX4 based drones system equipped with a smartphone.
The performance of a Strapdown Inertial Navigation System (SDINS) relies heavily on the accuracy of sensor error calibration. Systematic calibration is usually employed when only a 2-axis turntable is available. For systematic calibration, the body frame is commonly defined with respect to sensor axes for ease of computation. The drawback of this approach is that sensor axes may undergo time-varying deflection under temperature change, causing pseudo gyro bias. The effect of pseudo gyro bias on navigation performance is negligible for low grade navigation systems. However, for higher grade systems undergoing rapid temperature change, the error is no longer negligible. This paper describes in detail conditions leading to the presence of pseudo gyro bias, and proposes two techniques for mitigating the error. Experimental results show that applying these techniques improves navigation performance for precision SDINS, especially under rapid temperature change.
This paper involves the "on-line" measurement of burrs using a capacitance sensor. A non-contact capacitance gauging sensor is attached to an ultra precision milling machine which was used as a positioning system The setup is used to measure burr profiles along machined workpiece edges. Experimental procedures and results as well as the basic theoretical principles of the capacitance sensor and specifications of related equipment are presented. The proposed scheme is shown to be accurate easy to setup and with minor modifications readily applicable to automatic deburring processes.processes.

In constructing the positioning system based on a conventional dead-reckoning for a wheeled vehicle with pneumatic tires, the position estimation error is inevitable as changes of the radius of the wheels depend on live load and variable enviroment. Therefore, this paper proposes the positioning system which can estimate the error source i.e. the vehicle parameter errors, such as the right and left wheel radius error, using gyroscope and ultrasonic sensor and correct the parameter to reduce the dead-reckoned position estimation error. The extended Kalman filter was used as a method for the multisensor data fusion. The simulation to verify the effectiveness of the proposed positioning system is performed.
A 250mm stroke aerostatic stage, which detects position with laser scale and is driven by linear motor, is made and analyzed positioning error in 20$\pm$ 0.5 $^{\circ}C$ controlled atmosphere, aiming at investigating positioning characteristic of ultra-precision stage. We prove this aerostatic stage has a 10nm micro step resolution by experiment. By means of analyzing laser interferometer system, the scale of measuring error is about 0.2-0.4$\mu\textrm{m}$ according to refractive index error from missing the temperature change. To improve laser interferometer system, compensate refractive index error using measuring data from thermocouple. And, confirm 0.10$\mu\textrm{m}$ repeatability and 0.13 $\mu\textrm{m}$ positioning accuracy using the compensating refractive index. Also, we confirm 0.07 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ repeatability of the stage using capacitive displacement sensor.
The paper presents research for the established experiment environment of multi vehicle robot, localization algorithm that is based on vehicle control, and path tracking. The established experiment environment consists of ultrasonic positioning system, vehicle robot, server and wireless module. Ultrasonic positioning system measures positioning for using ultrasonic sensor and generates many errors because of the influence of environment such as a reflection of wall. For a solution of this fact, localization algorithm is proposed to determine a location using vehicle kinematics and selection of a reliable location data. And path tracking algorithm is proposed to apply localization algorithm and LOS, finally, that algorithms are verified via simulation and experimental
This paper describes the development of an INS (Inertial Navigation System) integrated positioning system, which can monitor and track the firefighter's position for assisting effective fire-fighting activity and rescue services. The INS consists of highly accurate three-axis gyro sensor and three-axis accelerometer. By integrating an INS to positioning system, it is also possible to obtain the information of firefighter's physical state (e.g. standing, collapse and crouch) of posture including velocity. Consequently, this research would obviously make a contribution to effective rescue activities and safety of firefighters. Besides, this paper presents results from field tests conducted at Tokyo University demonstrating its viability and utility. We also summarize the overall system requirements and architecture, and describe the hardware and software used in the prototype system in detail.
