  • With the recent development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, smartization technology is expanding to the fields of agriculture, livestock, and fisheries, and smartization is in progress. In this smart technology, the most important thing is how to measure the data in the field and transmit it to the management system. Currently, the sensors used in the construction of smart farms and other livestock houses and farms are measuring and monitoring smart farms and other environmental conditions through various sensors such as temperature, humidity, CO gas, CO2, hydrogen, and O2. The communication method between these sensors and the HMI (Human Machine Interface) module that controls and manages the smart farm is still mainly using the RS-485-based modbus-RTU method. In this paper, we intend to design the MCU module for HMI so that various sensor modules can be connected to manage data through the RS-485-based Modbus method so that the sensor data required for smart farm construction can be managed by the HMI module.

  • This paper represents an intelligent sensor controller of mobile robot for object recognition in an indoor hon environment. A range finder sensor module has been developed by using optic PSD (Position Sensitive Detector) sensor way at a low Vice. While PSD sensor is cost effective and light weighting, it has switching noise and white noise. To remove these noises, we propose a heuristic filter. For line-based map building. also we prorosed advanced Hough transformation and navigation algorithm. Some experiments were illustrated for the validity of the developed system.

  • A wireless sensor network (WSN) is designed and implemented for a freeze dryer. Freeze-drying technology is widely used in the fields of pharmacy and biotechnology as well as the food and agriculture industries. Taking into account the demand for high-resolution pressure and temperature measurements in a freeze dryer, the proposed WSN has a significant advantage of creating a monitoring environment in a freeze dryer. The proposed WSN uses a ZigBee/IEEE 802.15.4 network with an altimeter module that contains a high-resolution pressure and temperature sensor with a serial digital data interface. The ZigBee network is suitable for low-energy and low-data-rate applications in the field of wireless communication. The altimeter module is capable of sensing pressure in the range of 7.5-975 Torr (10-1300 mbar) and temperature in the range of $-40^{\circ}C$ to $125^{\circ}C$ with a DC power consumption of $3{\mu}W$. The implemented WSN is installed in a commercial laboratory freeze dryer in order to demonstrate its functionality and efficiency. A comparison with the temperature profile measured by a thermocouple installed in the freeze dryer reveals that the resolution of the temperature profile measured by WSN is superior to that measured by the thermocouple.

  • Usage of a face mask has become mandatory in many countries after the COVID-19. This paper described to develop a IoT based smart mask system for monitoring face mask. The system developed in this paper has two main units, a sensor module, and a smartphone application. The sensor module consists of four components: temperature and humidity sensor, a heart rate sensor, and a BLE chip. This components work as a unit to collect data and stream them through an I2C port over BLE to a connected mobile device. The smartphone application is an Android application developed for smart phones. It enables the Android device to communicate with the sensor to receive sensor data, process, store and display results.

  • This paper presents a smartphone-attachable vascular compliance monitoring module. The proposed sensor module measures photoplethysmogram (PPG) and reconstructs an accelerated PPG waveform. The feature points are extracted from the accelerated PPG waves, and vascular compliance is estimated using these extracted features. The module is powered via the smartphone's USB terminal and transmits the acquired waveforms along with vascular compliance values through Bluetooth. The transmitted waveforms and vascular compliance value are displayed through the smartphone application. This work proposes an assessment method for consistency of PPG instrumentation, and it was implemented in a processor of sensor module. The proposed sensor module can be easily attached to smartphone that does not support PPG instrumentation, providing simple measurment and numerical analysis of vascular compliance. To verify the performance of the implemented sensor module, we acquired vascular compliance and pulse pressure data from 29 subjects. Pulse pressure, which serves as a representative indicator of vascular compliance, was obtained using a commercial blood pressure monitor. The analysis results showed that the Pearson coefficient between vascular compliance and pulse pressure was 0.778, confirming a relatively high correlation between two metrics.

  • The paper presents a new dynamic displacement measurement system. The developed displacement measurement system consists of a sensor module, a base module and a computation module. The sensor module, which contains a force-balanced accelerometer and low-price RTK-GNSS, measures the high-precision acceleration with sampling frequency of 100Hz, the low-precision displacement and velocity with sampling frequency of 10Hz. The measured data is transferred to the computation module through LAN cable, and precise displacement is estimated in real-time with 100Hz sampling frequency through a two stage Kalman filter. The field test was conducted at San Francisco-Oaklmand Bay bridge, CA, USA to verify the precision of the developed system, and it showed the RMSE was 1.68mm.

  • Aluminum nitride (AlN) thin films with a TiN buffer layer have been fabricated on SUS430 substrate by RF reactive magnetron sputtering at room temperature under 25~75% $N_2$ /Ar. The characterization of film properties were performed using surface profiler, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), and pressure-voltage measurement system. The deposition rates of AlN films were decreased with increasing the $N_2$ concentration owing to lower mass of nitrogen ions than Ar. The as-deposited AlN films showed crystalline phase, and with increasing the $N_2$ concentration, the peak of AlN(100) plane and the crystallinity became weak. Any change in the preferential orientation of the as-deposited AlN films was not observed within our $N_2$ concentration range. But in the case of 50% $N_2$ /Ar condition, the peak of (002) plane, which is determinant in pressure sensing properties, appeared. XPS depth profiling of AlN/TiN/SUS430 revealed Al/N ratio was close to stoichiometric value (45:47) when deposited under 50% $N_2/Ar$ atmosphere at room temperature. The output signal voltage of AlN sensor showed a linear behavior between 26~85 mV, and the pressure-sensing sensitivity was calculated as 7 mV/MPa.

  • Sensing module of standing and moving human body using shutter method was developed. The module consists of Fresnel lens, pyroelectric infrared (PIR) sensor, interface circuit of the PIR, micro control unit(MCU), and alarm light emitting diode(LED). The principle for standing human body is chopping the thermal of human body using camera shutter. The human sensing signal in MCU by algorithm of interrupt function is detected. By unifying an apparatus and print circuit board(PCB), the developed module can be replaced as commercial moving human body detector. Experiment results show that sensing distance is about 7.0m and sensing angles is about $110^{\circ}$ at room temperature. In these condition, sending ratio was 100% and the power dissipation of the module was 100mW.

  • Cattle estrus detection system based on Internet of Things is designed and implemented by using Arduino pro-mini, gyroscope, acceleration sensor, bluetooth master and slave module. The implemented system measures cattle's moving and the measured data are transmitted to the computer connected to RX module by bluetooth TX module. They are plotted in 2-dimensional graph on the computer monitor and the number of transition at each sensor axis are calculated from the graph. The detected and gathered data from the system are analyzed by the proposed algorithm to decide which cows are in the estrus or not. The method to apply bluetooth scatternet is shown and the proposed system can be used to increase the success rate of artificial insemination in normal estrus by detecting the cow's behaviors such as the number of jumping. In this paper, the implemented cattle behavior detecting the system(TX module) are strapped on cattle's leg and it measures the cattle behaviors for determining where that a cattle is estrus or not by the proposed algorithm.
