  • Until now, a study on a ubiquitous sensor network has been mainly concentrated in the areas of sensor nodes, and as a results, technologies related with sensor node were greatly developed. Despite of many achievements on research and development for a sensor node, a ubiquitous sensor network may failed to establish the actual service environment because variety of restrictions. In order to provide a actual service using a ubiquitous sensor networks applied to many results on research and development for a sensor nodes, a study on a wired/wireless composite router must be carried out. However a study on a wired/wireless composite router is relatively very slow compared with the sensor node. In this study, developed a high-performance router platform supporting IPv6 that can provide high-speed wired/wireless interface and QoS, and it can provide the multimedia service Interlocking the wireless sensor network and the Internet network. To analysis a given network environment and to develop the appropriate hardware and software in accordance with this requirement.

  • In this paper, we present a new method for monitoring of ECU's sensor signals of vehicle. In order to measure the ECU's sensor signals, the interfaced circuit is designed to communicate ECU and the Embedded Linux is used to monitor communication result through Web the Embedded Linux system and this system is said "ECU Interface Part". In ECU Interface Part the interface circuit is designed to match voltage level between ECU and SA-1110 micro controller and interface circuit to communicate ECU according to the ISO, SAE communication protocol standard. Because Embedded Linux does not allow to access hardware directly in application level, anyone who wants to modify any low level hardware must develop device driver. To monitor ECU's sensor signals the most important thing is to match serial level between ECU and ECU Interface Part. It means to communicate correctly between two hardware we need to match voltage and signal level, and need to match baudrate. The voltage of SA-1110 is 0 ${\sim}$ +3.3V and ECU is 0 ${\sim}$ +12V and, ECU's communication Line K does multiple operation so, the interface circuit is used to match voltage and signal level. In Addition to ECU's baudrate is 10400bps, it's not standard baudrate in computer environment. So, we need to develop a device driver to control the interface circuit, and change baudrate. To monitor ECU's sensor signals through web there's a network socket program is working in Embedded Linux. It works as server program and manages user's connections and commands. Anyone who wants to monitor ECU's sensor signals he just only connect to Embedded Linux system with web browser then, Embedded Linux webserver will return the ActiveX webbased measurement software. It works in web browser and inits ECU, as a result it returns sensor signals through web. All the programs are developed with GCC(GNU C Compiler) and, webbased measurement software is developed with Borland C++ Builder.

  • A scratch tester was developed to evaluate the adhesive strength at interface between thin film and substrate(silicon wafer). Under force control, the scratch tester can measure the normal and the horizontal forces simultaneously as the probe tip of the equipment approaches to the interface between thin film and substrate of wafer. The capacity of each component of force sensor is 0.1 N ∼ 100 N. In addition, the tester can detect the signal of elastic wave from AE sensor(frequency range of 900 kHz) attached to the probe tip and evaluate the bonding strength of interface. Using the developed scratch tester. the feasibility test was performed to evaluate the adhesive strength of semiconductor wafer.

  • A kind of field bus called Actuator and Sensor interface bus(AS-i) was designed in this paper. The configuration of AS-i network system used Application Specific Integrated Circuit(ASIC) SAP5S chip and PLC S7-200 station, which included CPU 224 and AS-i master module CP 243-2. We also created an example program for PLC S7-200 to control AS-i network. The fire and smoke detection system was made with AS-i network system that was designed. This system had got more advantages than other system such as number of stations, easy installation, wide working area, etc. And designed system can be used as a partner network for higher level field bus networks.

  • Objective: Research on the transformation of interaction between mobile machines and users through analysis on current gesture interface technology development trend. Background: For smooth interaction between machines and users, interface technology has evolved from "command line" to "mouse", and now "touch" and "gesture recognition" have been researched and being used. In the future, the technology is destined to evolve into "multi-modal", the fusion of the visual and auditory senses and "3D multi-modal", where three dimensional virtual world and brain waves are being used. Method: Within the development of computer interface, which follows the evolution of mobile machines, actively researching gesture interface and related technologies' trend and development will be studied comprehensively. Through investigation based on gesture based information gathering techniques, they will be separated in four categories: sensor, touch, visual, and multi-modal gesture interfaces. Each category will be researched through technology trend and existing actual examples. Through this methods, the transformation of mobile machine and human interaction will be studied. Conclusion: Gesture based interface technology realizes intelligent communication skill on interaction relation ship between existing static machines and users. Thus, this technology is important element technology that will transform the interaction between a man and a machine more dynamic. Application: The result of this study may help to develop gesture interface design currently in use.

  • This study presents a structural health monitoring (SHM) method for bolted connections by using multi-channel wireless impedance sensor nodes and multiple PZT-interfaces. To achieve the objective, the following approaches are implemented. Firstly, a PZT-interface is designed to monitor bolt loosening in bolted connection based on variation of electro-mechanical(EM) impedance signatures. Secondly, a wireless impedance sensor node is designed for autonomous, cost-efficient and multi-channel monitoring. For the sensor platform, Imote2 is selected on the basis of its high operating speed, low power requirement and large storage memory. Finally, the performance of the wireless sensor node and the PZT-interfaces is experimentally evaluated for a bolt-connection model Damage monitoring method using root mean square deviation(RMSD) index of EM impedance signatures is utilized to estimate the strength of the bolted joint.

  • In this paper, we described a design and implementation of a sensor node for environmental monitoring. The main focus of design for sensor nodes is to isolate MCU for treating sensors from the RF module for considering various communication environment. The second is to make the interface between MCU and varity of sensor. In addition, we choose a narrow band communication module, cc1020, for the admittance of Korea government communication law. We also use a uC/OS-II as an operating system which is famous for 8bit MCUs. We showed that the communication performance is sufficient to use the communication module in a out-door environment through several experiments in that it is possible to transmit between 100m distance through experiments in a mountain.

  • Motion recognition is very useful for implementing an intuitive HMI (Human-Machine Interface). In particular, hands are the body parts that can move most precisely with relatively small portion of energy. Thus hand motion has been used as an efficient communication interface with other persons or machines. In this paper, we design and implement a light-weight ANN (Artificial Neural Network)-based hand motion recognition using a state-of-the-art flex sensor. The proposed design consists of data collection from a wearable flex sensor, preprocessing filters, and a light-weight NN (Neural Network) classifier. For verifying the performance and functionality of the proposed design, we implement it on a low-end embedded device. Finally, our experiments and prototype implementation demonstrate that the accuracy of the proposed hand motion recognition achieves up to 98.7%.
