유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅을 위한 센서 디바이스 Plug & Play (Sensor Device Plug & Play for Ubiquitous Computing)

  • When mounting the sensor device in the way of Plug&Play, sensor device drivers need to be loaded and linked dynamically. Since a sensor node platform is based on small 8 bit MCU, dynamic loading and linking technique used in Windows and Linux can not be applied. In this paper, we present how to link and load dynamically sensor device drivers for sensor device Plug&Play. We implement a prototype and evaluate it to make sure that there is no performance degradation like sensor device driver connection speed and memory usage. Connection speed overhead increases to 0.2ms. Memory usage overhead increases to hundreds byte. It shows that there is no heavy influence in running the actual program.

  • 센서노드 운영체제는 다종다양한 센서를 효율적으로 관리하기 위해서 통일된 API와 효율적인 디바이스 드라이버 매니저를 지원하여야 한다. 하지만 Tiny-OS, Nano-Q+ 등의 기존 운영체제들은 이와 같은 디바이스 드라이버 매니저를 지원하지 않는다. 본 논문에서는 센서 I/O 서브시스템을 제안하여 응용프로그래머에게 통일된 API를 제공하며 디바이스 드라이버의 장탈착이 용이한 디바이스 관리 매니저를 제시한다. 탈부착이 가능한 스마트 센서를 위하여 원격 디바이스 드라이버 업데이트 방식을 제안한다. 이 방식은 일부 센서가 변경되었을 때 전체 응용이 아닌 디바이스 드라이버만의 다운로딩이 가능하다. ETRI가 개발한 Nano-Q+에 상기한 기능을 추가하여 설계하고 구현하였다. 기존 운영체제와 성능을 비교 평가하였고 디바이스 드라이버 부분 다운로딩이 다운로딩 속도를 획기적으로 개선시켰다.

  • Worldwide, studies on intelligent vehicles for the convenience of drivers have been actively conducted as the number of cars has increased. However, vehicle convenience enabled by buttons lowers the concentration on driving and hence poses as a huge threat to the safety of the driver. The use of one of the convenient features, impaired driving auxiliary equipment, is limited because of its complex usage, and this device also hinders the front view of the driver. This paper proposes a vehicle-control device for controlling the convenient features as well as changes in speed and direction using gestures and motions of the driver. This device consists of an ultrasonic sensor for recognizing movement, an arduino for accepting signal control functions and servo and DC motors apply to various vehicle parts. Firstly, the vehicle-control device was designed using a 3D CAD program known as Solid-works based on the size of the steering wheel. Then, through simulations, a suitable length for minimizing the absorbent between ultrasonic sensors was confirmed using a program known as COMSOL Multiphysics. Finally, simulation results were verified through experiments, and the optimal size of the device was identified through the number of errors.

  • This paper describes the development of the sensor interface and driver program for a point of care (POC) device. The proposed pac device comprises an ARM9 embedded processor and eight-channel sensor input to measure various bio-signals. It features a user-friendly interface using a full-color TFT-LCD and touch-screen, and a bluetooth wireless communication module. The proposed device is based on the system on a programmable chip (SOPC). We use Altera's Excalibur device, which has an ARM9 and FPGA area on a chip, as a test bed for the development of interface hardware and driver software.

리눅스에서 센서/구동기의 Plug&Play를 위한 USB장치 (A USB Device for Plug&Play of Sensor/Actuator In Linux)

  • Since IoT devices include various sensors and drivers, application programmers need to understand the structure and characteristics of sensors and actuators. If the manufacturer provides the driver of the sensor or actuator, IoT development can be efficiently carried out, which is called the Plug & Play technique. What matters is that the technique proposed by this research team in the past are not suitable for Arduino or Raspberry-Pi, which are recently used. In this paper, we propose a USB sensor device that can be mounted on a Raspberry-Pi. When the device is plugged into the Raspberry-Pi, the built-in driver is transmitted and played. The configuration of the USB sensor device was presented, and considerations for chip selection for processing sensors and drivers were presented.

  • This paper discusses about the implementation of a simulator for the Navigation Control System(NCS) of bimodal tram. To operate a NCS of bimodal tram, values of all sorts of sensors installed in bimodal tram should be transmitted to the NCS, and the NCS calculates the measured sensor values to determine traveling direction, traveling speed, current position etc. The implementation of the simulator consists of a device applying driver's input transaction function & virtual sensor program and a sub-rack device that controls communication with the NCS to evaluate navigation control function. The virtual sensor program can create routes (map), traveling profiles & seat information et cetera in order to transmit to the NCS, analyzes driver's input values and NCS output values to create virtual sensor values. The sub-rack device takes charge of communication with the NCS using CAN-OPEN, CAN-J1939, MVP protocols. This paper discusses about the implementation of the simulator and afterwards analyzes and evaluates the NCS simulation results.

  • 어선의 안전을 실시간으로 모니터링하고 위험요소가 발생했을 경우에 사용자에게 이를 경보하고 통보해줄 수 있는 장치에 대한 필요성이 크게 대두되고 있다. 위험요소를 감지하는 다기능 센서를 사용하기 위해서 임베디드 모듈에서는 Device driver와 Application program을 구현해야 하는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 Device driver와 Application program의 구현 없이 다기능 센서의 입출력 데이터를 관리 및 처리하기 위해서 PIC18F를 이용하여 센서부의 하드웨어 설계 및 제어프로그램 구현을 하였다. 센서의 동작에 따라 데이터를 출력하는 동작 확인을 통하여 성능검증을 하였다.

  • As time goes by, ultrasonic wave is getting important and new technology, which is adapted to ultrasonic wave is used to industry such as home appliance, automobile, and high-tech industry. Especially, ultrasonic wave is used an alarm device whether there are things at the rear of I. It's do important device in automobile system because it can prevent car-accident from inattention of the driver. Actually, there has already been lots of the alarm device. But it's expensive and so difficult to set the device. So almost driver don't set device at their automobile. We focus on these problems. We want to make cheap md easy setting device. Ultrasonic wave sensor emits Ultrasonic-signal at outgoing part and receive part accept the signal. Sensor analyzes the signal and Distance is displayed on LCD of device. The device makes alarm if distance is near from something of rear. The device makes break-system operate to prevent drivers from crashing if distance is so near. This device is portable. So normal deriver can set it easily.

  • IoT 장치를 개발하는 방법은 응용이 요구하는 센서를 아두이노나 라즈베이 파이 같은 플랫폼에 장착하고 그 센서의 드라이버와 응용을 작성하는 것이다. 이때 그 센서를 위한 구동 드라이버가 이미 작성되어 있고 응용에서 그 드라이버를 표준화된 API로 접근할 수 있다면 센서의 Plug&Play가 가능할 것이다. 이를 위한 과거의 방식은 센서 인터페이스가 너무 복잡하여 현재의 플랫폼에서는 사용하기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 USB단자를 갖는 표준화된 센서와 드라이버가 라즈베리 파이에 Plug되면 자동으로 드라이버가 설치되는 기법을 제안한다. 응용 개발자는 센서 드라이버는 고민하지 않고 Linux의 파일 접근 API로 센서 값을 얻을 수 있다. 제안된 기법은 현재 라즈베리-파이 상에서 구현 중이다.

Development of Smart Driving System Using iPod and Its Performance Evaluation for People with Severe Physical Disabilities in the Driving Simulator

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to develop the adaptive device for severe physical disabilities using smart device in the driving simulator and its performance evaluation. Development of appropriate driving adaptive device for the people with serious physical limitation could contribute to maintain their community mobility. Background: There is lack of adaptive driving devices for the people with disabilities in Korea. However, if smart device systems like iPod and iPhone are used for driving a car, the people with serious physical limitations can improve their community mobility. Method: Both gyroscope and accelerometer from iPod were used to measure the tilted angle of the smart device for driving. Customized Labview program was also used to control three axis motors for steering wheel, accelerator and brake pedals. Thirteen subjects were involved in the experiment for performance evaluation of smart device in simulator. Five subjects had driver licenses. Another four subjects did not have driver licenses. Others were people with disabilities. Results: Average driving score of the normal group with driver license in the simulator increased 46.6% compared with the normal group without driver license and increased 30.4% compared with the disabled group(p<0.01). There was no significant difference in the average driving score between normal group without driver license and disabled group(p>0.05). Conclusion: The normal group with driver license showed significantly higher driving score than other groups. The normal group without driver license and disabled group could improve their driving skills with training in simulator. Application: If follow-up studies would be continued and applied in adapted vehicle for on road environment, many people with more severe disabilities could drive and improve the quality of life.
