In the previous years, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have increased expanding consideration from both the clients and scientists. It is utilized as a part of different fields which incorporate ecological, social insurance, military and other business applications. Sensor hubs are battery fueled so vitality imperatives on hubs are extremely strict. At the point when battery gets released, sensor hub will get detached from remaining system. This outcomes in connection disappointment and information misfortune. In a few applications battery substitution is likewise impractical. Consequently, vitality proficient strategies ought to be outlined which will upgrade lifetime of system and precise information exchange. In this paper, diverse wellsprings of vitality dissemination are recorded trailed by vitality effective systems to improve lifetime of the system.
Display quality depends on panel temperatures. To compensate it, temperature sensor was integrated on the panel. The conventional temperature sensor integrated on the panel needs external reference resistor. Since the resistance of external resistor can vary according to the variation of the environment temperature, the conventional temperature sensor can make error in temperature sensing. The environmental temperatures can change by the back light unit, driving circuits or chips. In this paper, we proposed a integrated temperature sensor on display panel which does not need external reference resister. Instead of external reference resistor, we used two materials which have different temperature coefficient in resistivity. They are connected serially and the output voltage was measured at the point of connection with the applied voltage to both ends. The proposed sensor was fabricated with indium tin oxide(ITO), and Mo metal electrode temperature sensor which were connected serially. We verified the temperature senor by the measurements of sensitivity, lineality, hysteresis, repeatability, stability, and accuracy.
Low temperature micro-calorimeters have been employed in the field of high resolution alpha spectrometers. These alpha detectors typically consist of a superconducting or metal absorber and a temperature sensor. The temperature sensor can be a transition edge sensor (TES), a metallic magnetic calorimeter (MMC) or other low temperature detectors for an accurate measurement of temperature change due to an alpha particle absorption. We report a recent study of the heat flow between a replaceable absorber and a temperature sensor. A piece of gold foil in $2.4{\times}2.7{\times}0.03\;mm^3$ is used as an absorber. A $40\;{\mu}m$ diameter Au:Er paramagnetic sensor is attached to another small piece of gold foil in $400{\times}200{\times}30\;{\mu}m^3$ to serve as the temperature sensor. This sensor assembly, Au:Er and gold foil, is placed on a miniature SQUID susceptometer in a gradiometric configuration. The thermal connection between the absorber and the sensor was made with three gold bonding wires. The measured thermal conductance shows a linear dependence to the temperature. The values are in a good agreement with Wiedemann-Franz type thermal conductance of the gold wires.
In order to have a superconductive connection between the wire-wound pickup coil and input coil, typically Nb terminal blocks with screw holes are used. Since this connection structure occupies large volume, large stray pickup area can be generated which can pickup external noise fields. Thus, SQUID and connection block are shielded inside a superconducting tube, and this SQUID module is located at some distance from the distal coil of the gradiometer to minimize the distortion or imbalance of uniform background field due to the superconducting module. To operate this conventional SQUID module, we need a higher liquid He level, resulting in shorter refill interval. To make the fabrication of gradiometers simpler and refill interval longer, we developed a novel method of connecting the pickup coil into the input coil. Gradiometer coil wound of 0.125-mm diameter NbTi wires were glued close to the input coil pads of SQUID. The superconductive connection was made using an ultrasonic bonding of annealed 0.025-mm diameter Nb wires, bonded directly on the surface of NbTi wires where insulation layer was stripped out. The reliability of the superconductive bonding was good enough to sustain several thermal cycling. The stray pickup area due to this connection structure is about $0.1\;mm^2$, much smaller than the typical stray pickup area using the conventional screw block method. By using this compact connection structure, the position of the SQUID sensor is only about 20-30 mm from the distal coil of the gradiometer. Based on this compact module, we fabricated a magnetocardiography system having 61 first-order axial gradiometers, and measured MCG signals. The gradiometers have a coil diameter of 20 mm, and the baseline is 70 mm. The 61 axial gradiometer bobbins were distributed in a hexagonal lattice structure with a sensor interval of 26 mm, measuring $dB_z/dz$ component of magnetocardiography signals.
The authors' research efforts recently led to the development of a customized wireless control unit which receives the real-time feedbacks from the sensors, and elaborates the consequent control signal to drive the actuator(s). The controller is wireless in performing the data transmission task, i.e., it receives the signals from the sensors without the need of installing any analogue cable connection between them, but it is powered by wire. The actuator also needs to be powered by wire. In this framework, the design of a power management unit is of interest only for the wireless sensor stations, and it should be adaptable to different kind of sensor requirements in terms of voltage and power consumption. In the present paper, the power management efficiency is optimized by taking into consideration three different kinds of accelerometers, a load cell, and a non-contact laser displacement sensor. The required voltages are assumed to be provided by a power harvesting solution where the energy is stored into a capacitor.
Performed was a survey to find the level of interest on passenger services using IT and smart sensor technology in connection with High Speed Train development in Korea. The survey respondents were sampled from the KTX passengers, KTX crews, Korail employees, IT or sensor experts, and rolling stock experts. The results of the survey were categorized as importance, urgency/necessity, importance vs urgency/necessity, improvement measure, preferable activities based on the trip length, and inconveniencies. By analyzing the results, service items that can be implemented to the High Speed Train were recognized. The results showed that a passenger tends to expect to have his/her comfort and convenience, an attendant safety and serviceability, a Korail employee information provision and serviceability, an IT/sensor expert technological implementation done, and a rolling stock expert implementation done in practical level.
Many of the recent performance evaluation of clustering schemes in wireless sensor networks considered one sink node operation and fixed sink node location without mentioning about any network application requirements. However, application environments have variable requirements about their networks. In addition, network performance is sufficiently influenced by different sink node location scenarios in multi-hop based network. We also know that sink location can influence to the sensor network performance evaluation because of changed multipath of sensor nodes and changed overload spots in multipath based wireless sensor network environment. Thus, the performance evaluation results are hard to trust because sensor network is easily changed their network connection through their routing algorithms. Therefore, we suggest that these schemes need to evaluate with different sink node location scenarios to show fair evaluation result. Under the results of that, network performance evaluation results are acknowledged by researchers. In this paper, we measured several clustering scheme's performance variations in accordance with various types of sink node location scenarios. As a result, in the case of the clustering scheme that did not consider various types of sink location scenarios, fair evaluation cannot be expected.
Sensor faults in nuclear power plant instrumentation have the potential to spread negative effects from wrong signals that can cause an accident misdiagnosis by plant operators. To detect sensor faults and make accurate accident diagnoses, prior studies have developed a supervised learning-based sensor fault detection model and an accident diagnosis model with faulty sensor isolation. Even though the developed neural network models demonstrated satisfactory performance, their diagnosis performance should be reevaluated considering real-time connection. When operating in real-time, the diagnosis model is expected to indiscriminately accept fault data before receiving delayed fault information transferred from the previous fault detection model. The uncertainty of neural networks can also have a significant impact following the sensor fault features. In the present work, a pilot study was conducted to connect two models and observe actual outcomes from a real-time application with an integrated system. While the initial results showed an overall successful diagnosis, some issues were observed. To recover the diagnosis performance degradations, additive logics were applied to minimize the diagnosis failures that were not observed in the previous validations of the separate models. The results of a case study were then analyzed in terms of the real-time diagnosis outputs that plant operators would actually face in an emergency situation.
