  • The change in moisture content of moisture sensitive products in moisture-semipermeable packages was investigated for the purpose of predicting the shelf life of a product-package combination. A mathematical model, and a computer program based on the physiochemical properties of the product and the moisture permeability of the package was developed. The moisture content for products in moisture-semipermeable packages was determined under various environmental conditions and the results were compared with the predicted values by means of the simulation model. These experimental studies demonstrated that the prediction of the change in moisture content of packaged products over time by the simulation model is accurate, within a practical range of temperature and relative humidity values. The developed semi-empirical model is considered to have applications in industry, since it provides product shelf life information for a range of temperature and relative humidity conditions, with a limited number of experimentally obtained data points.

  • In order to analyse the properties of the fiber-adhesive that was used as Flocking process we synthesized quaterpolymer with the variation of the types of monomer ratio by emulsion polymerization. We characterized the properties of this adhesive: Differential Scanning Calorimeter(DSC), Thermogravimetry Analysis(TGA), Raman spectroscopy. The polymer was synthesized by changing the using amount of 2-EHAM, and then we investigated the characteristics of glass transition temperature(Tg), melting temperature(Tm), thermal stability and hydroxyl group respectively. The optimum monomer composition was 36.84% EAM, 15.79% MAM, 42.1% 2-EHAM and 5.26% AAc.

  • The 5G system standardization body has been developing standard functions to provide ultra-high speed, ultra-high reliability, ultra-low latency, and ultra-connected services. In 3GPP Rel-16, which was recently completed, this system has begun to develop ultra-high reliability and ultra-low latency communication functions to support the vertical industry. It is expected that the trend in the adoption of mobile communication by the vertical industry will continue with the introduction of 5G. In this paper, we present the industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) service scenarios and requirements for the adoption of 5G systems by the vertical industry and the related standardization trend at present. In particular, we introduce the 5G time-sensitive networking standard technology, a core technology for realizing 5G-based smart factories, for IIoT services.

  • Hydrogen peroxide is a radiolysis product of water formed under gamma-irradiation; therefore, its reliable detection is crucial in the nuclear industry for spent fuel management and coolant chemistry. This study proposes an electrochemical sensor for hydrogen peroxide detection. Cysteamine (CYST), gold nanoparticles (GNPs), and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) were used in the modification of a gold electrode for fabricating Au/CYST/GNP/HRP sensor. Each modification step of the electrode was investigated through electrochemical and physical methods. The sensor exhibited strong sensitivity and stability for the detection and measurement of hydrogen peroxide with a linear range of 1-9 mM. In addition, the Michaelis-Menten kinetic equation was applied to predict the reaction curve, and a quantitative method to define the dynamic range is suggested. The sensor is highly sensitive to H2O2 and can be applied as an electrochemical H2O2-sensor in the nuclear industry.

  • For many years beak trimming has been a controversial subject, particularly since the 1980's when the practice came under close scrutiny by animal welfare groups. In Australia it is considered an essential practice, averting losses of AUD$17.5m annually by reducing mortality from cannibalism. While mortality in flocks from cannibalism can be reduced from 25% of the flock to virtually nil, the beak trimming procedure is considered traumatic for the bird. This study examined if chronic pain in the beak was evident in birds 10, 20 and 60 weeks after being trimmed at hatch and in another group of birds, 8 and 52 weeks after being re-trimmed at 14 weeks. Chronic pain was assessed by measuring pecking behaviour and beak sensitivity responses. Pecking behaviour studies completed after beak trimming and re-trimming showed no evidence to indicate that birds were suffering severe chronic pain in the beak. Beak trimmed pullets pecked more at the cage and had more toe pecks, yet overall pecks made at the feed and the environment were no different than untrimmed controls. While the beak sensitivity studies provided evidence that the beak of birds trimmed at hatch and also re-trimmed at 14 weeks may be more sensitive there was no evidence that re-trimming resulted in a more sensitive beak than birds trimmed at hatch only. These studies have shown that birds which are beak trimmed and re-trimmed return to apparently normal feeding and pecking behaviour in the long term. However, there was limited evidence that beaks of trimmed birds have an altered threshold to potentially painful stimuli.

  • This study attempts to analyze the economic impact of the service robot industry using Input-Output analysis, which is conducted based on Demand-driven model, the Leontief price model, the Backward and Forward Linkage Effects, and the Exogenous Methods. In a Demand-driven model analysis, we can conclude that the service robot industry contains characteristics of both the manufacturing industry and the service industry, which causes a positive impact on the overall industry by compensating for the weaknesses of the two industries. The Leontief price analysis indicates when wages in the service robot industry increase, prices related to robot manufacturing also increase. Also, when profits in the service robot industry increase, prices related to service provision increase, too. The Backward and Forward Linkage Effects analysis shows that the service robot industry is highly sensitive to the current economic condition and has a great influence on the service industry. The service robot industry can highlight the aspect of service characteristics when the manufacturing industry is in recession and vice versa. In addition, the service robot industry can be regarded as a value-adding and domestic economy promoting industry which utilizes knowledge of information and communication technologies. It is important to foster the service robot industry in South Korea, which is in economic recession to provide an opportunity to stimulate the growth of both service and robot industries.

  • In order to investigate the structures and growth patterns of pulp and paper industries of Korea, the input-output tables of the year 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2007 were analyzed in this papers. The production inducement coefficients of these industries have grown during the designated period. In 2007, the value of production induced by pulp industry was estimated to be 343,8 billion won. Paper and paper product industries were estimated to induce the production of other industries by 7,281,6 and 8,515.9 billion won, respectively. The import inducement effect of pulp industry was estimated to be larger than that of paper and paper product industries. Analysis on the forward linkage effects indicated that paper and paper product industries were more sensitive to the change in demand of other industries than pulp industry.
