ELCIC: An R package for model selection using the empirical-likelihood based information criterion

  • This article introduces the R package ELCIC (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/ELCIC/index.html), which provides an empirical likelihood-based information criterion (ELCIC) for model selection that includes, but is not limited to, variable selection. The empirical likelihood is a semi-parametric approach to draw statistical inference that does not require distribution assumptions for data generation. Therefore, ELCIC is more robust and versatile in the context of model selection compared to the currently existing information criteria. This paper illustrates several applications of ELCIC, including its use in generalized linear models, generalized estimating equations (GEE) for longitudinal data, and weighted GEE (WGEE) for missing longitudinal data under the mechanisms of missing at random and dropout.

OECD국가의 준 내생적 성장이론 및 완전한 내생적 성장이론에 대한 실증고찰 (Empirical Study on the Semi-Endogenous Growth Theory and Fully Endogenous Growth Theory in OECD Countries)

  • 본 연구는 두 가지 형태의 내생적 성장이론에 대한 실증분석을 실시하는 데 있다. 이 연구목적을 위하여 1981부터 2000년까지 OECD 19개 국가를 대상으로 패널 단위근과 패널 공적분방법을 이용하여 두 이론의 함의에 대하여 실증분석을 시시하였다. 먼저 패널 단위근 실증분석결과를 보면, 총 요소생산성 수준에 대한 세 패널 단위근 검정결과는 비 정상상태를 나타내는 것으로 보이며, 총 요소생산성 증가율에 대한 패널 단위근 검정결과는 정상상태를 나타내는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 준 내생적 성장이론에 근거한 Durbin-Hausman 통계량은 공적분 관계가 존재하지 않는다는 귀무가설을 기각하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 분석결과는 총 요소생산성 대비 연구개발비를 사용하거나 연구원수를 사용한 경우에도 동일하게 나타났으나, 패널 공적분 분석결과는 사용변수와 분석통계량에 따라서 서로 상반된 결과를 보였다. 준 내생적성장이론을 뒷받침하는 본 실증분석결과는 연구개발지출과 같은 내생적인 통제변수에 의하여 지속적인 경제성장을 이룩할 수 있다는 이론적 기반을 제공한다. 그러나 지속적인 총 요소생산성증대를 통한 경제성장은 지속적인 연구개발투입량증가만으로 뒷받침 될 수 있으며, 연구개발기여도체감(수확체감)을 극복하기 위한 연구개발투입증가를 더욱 증가시켜야 한다는 이론적 함의를 실증적으로 뒷받침한다고 볼 수 있다.

A New Semi-Empirical Model for the Backgating Effect on the Depletion Width Modulation in GaAs MESFET's

  • A simple and efficient way of modeling backgating in GaAs MESFET's is presented through depletion width modulation of Schottky junction and channel-substrate interface. It is shown semi-empirically that such a modulation of depletion widths causes serious troubles in designing precision circuits since backgating drastically reduces threshold voltage of MESFET as well as drain current. Finally, some of the results are compared with reported experimental results. This model may serve as a starting point for rigorous characterization of backgating effect on various device parameters of GaAs MESFET's.

CFD를 이용한 유도탄 power-on 기저항력 해석 (NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE POWER-ON BASE DRAG OF A MISSILE BODY)

  • The pressure is generally lower than that of the freestream at the base of a missile body due to the energy loss by the flow separation around the edge of the base. The base pressure changes in the presence of the thrust jet due to the interaction between the base flow of the missile and the jet flow. In this study, behavior of the missile base pressure by the change of the jet exit pressure and the freestream condition is investigated using the CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) method. Effects of the grid type and the freestream condition are tested. The results are compared with the semi-empirical predictions and the flight test data. The CFD results agree well with the flight test data. The semi-empirical predictions overestimate the base pressure when jet thrust is strong for low freestream speed.

  • 고체 램 제트 추진기관에서도 일반 로켓 추진기관에서와 같이 Isp 즉 추력을 증대 시키기 위하여 고체 입자들을 연료에 함유시킨다. 이러한 고체입자가 포함된 연료들은 매우 짧은 연소실 체류시간 때문에 연소 효율의 증대가 필수적이며 흡입공기 온도가 중요한 역할을 한다. 이 흡입공기 온도가 램 제트 성능에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다 성능조사는 실험적 방법에 한계가 있어 연소실험을 통한 연소효율을 이용하여 반-실험적으로 조사하였다. 연소실 흡입공기 온도에 영향을 미치는 인자는 자유 유동장 즉 대기 온도와 비행 마하 수이며 이들에 대한 효과를 조사하였다.

Wind flow simulations in idealized and real built environments with models of various level of complexity

  • The suitability of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations on the built environment for the purpose of estimating average roughness characteristics and for studying wind flow patterns within the environment is assessed. Urban models of various levels of complexity are considered including an empty domain, array of obstacles arranged in regular and staggered manners, in-homogeneous roughness with multiple patches, a semi-idealized built environment, and finally a real built environment. For each of the test cases, we conducted CFD simulations using RANS turbulence closure and validated the results against appropriate methods: existing empirical formulas for the homogeneous roughness case, empirical wind speed models for the in-homogeneous roughness case, and wind tunnel tests for the semi-idealized built environment case. In general, results obtained from the CFD simulations show good agreement with the corresponding validation methods, thereby, giving further evidence to the suitability of CFD simulations for built environment studies consisting of wide-ranging roughness. This work also provides a comprehensive overview of roughness modeling in CFD-from the simplest approach of modeling roughness implicitly through wall functions to the most elaborate approach of modeling roughness explicitly for the sake of accurate wind flow simulations within the built environment.

  • In order that precision equipment using high precision industrial operate normally. vibration criteria of expected area that equipment be set up is micrometer level. that method is a trust design for apply to in field, when there attend to quantifiable method. Hence, semi -empirical method that using on the basis of experimental data about undefined information (properities of vibration source, dynamic properities of structure, etc.,) for prediction of vibration response make the use of dynamic structure design of semiconductor & TFT-LCD in the inside and outside country. Like this, for doing an optimal design of dynamic about structure, it is best important to get trust data that apply to semi-empirical method that is method of prediction vibration level. In this paper, on the basis of experimental data which was offered by a manufacturing company Of precisin equipment that plan to set up in semiconductor factory, we predicted vibration response on expected area that equipment be set up.

저 NOx 희박연소기의 주연소영역에서의 연소특성 연구 (The Combustion Characteristics at Primary Zone of Lean Premixed low NOx Combustor)

  • The concept of lean-premixed combustion in gas turbine combustor operation has become a standard in recent years as an effective means to meet stringent enviromental standards on NOx emissions. The combustion characteristics of 75 kW class lean premixed combustor were investigated at the conditions of high temperature and ambient pressure. The exit temperature and emissions of CO and NOx were measured at the center of exit plane. The high temperature air of $550K{\sim}650K$ was supplied through air preheater. As expected, experimental results indicate that NOx emission was increased and CO emission was decreased by increasing inlet air temperature. But CO emission measured at the center of exit plane was increased because of the non-uniform radial direction profiles. The Semi-Empirical Correlation method was applied to obtain the design point emissions of NOx and CO. Also the flame temperature, CO and NOx emissions were measured along the centerline of liner at 650K inlet air temperature to determine the position of dilution holes.

Comparison between observation and theory for the stand-off distance ratios of CMEs and their associated ICMEs

  • We examine whether the observational stand-off distance ratios of CMEs and their associated ICMEs could be explained by theoretical model or not. For this, we select 16 CME-ICME pairs from September 2009 to October 2012 with the following conditions: (1) limb CMEs by SOHO and their associated ICMEs by twin STEREO spacecraft and vice versa when both spacecraft were roughly in quadrature; (2) the faint structure ahead of a limb CME is well identified; and (3) its associated ICME clearly has a sheath structure. We determine the observational stand-off distance ratios of the CMEs by using brightness profiles from LASCO-C2 (or SECCHI-COR2) observations and those of the ICMEs by solar wind data from STEREO-IMPACT/PLASTIC (or OMNI database) observations. We also determine the theoretical stand-off distance ratios of the CME-ICME pairs using semi-empirical relationship based on the bow shock theory. We find the following results. (1) Observational CME stand-off distance ratio decreases with increasing Mach number at the Mach numbers between 2 and 6. This tendency is consistent with the results from the semi-empirical relationship. (2) The observational stand-off distance ratios of several ICMEs can be explained by the relationship.
