A Semantic Web-enabled Woo System for Ontology Construction and Sharing (온톨로지 생성과 공유를 위한 시맨틱 웹 기반 위키 시스템)

  • The Semantic Web has the objective of developing universal media in which machine-processable semantic information can be represented and shared, and it is therefore important to distribute ontologies that represent this kind of semantic information to the Web and make them available to multiple parties. However, the current ontology authoring tools are not operating on the Web, which makes it difficult to distribute ontologies directly to the Web and to create and edit them collaboratively with other people. This paper proposes a framework that facilitates the ontology construction and sharing, realizing easy distribution of ontologies to the Web. Wiki is one of the frameworks for collaborative construction and sharing of knowledge on the Web, and Wiki contents consist of natural language texts and simple markup language for visualization. For better collaboration in creating and sharing ontologies, this paper suggests the Semantic Wiki that embodies the Semantic Web features to the existing Wiki system. The Semantic Wiki framework facilitates the collaboration in ontology co-authoring and sharing for people, and at the same time, makes it possible for the agent software to easily manage the ontology information. Eventually, the Semantic Wiki system accomplishes various tasks including the semantic view, the semantic navigation, and the semantic query.

  • With the emergence of Semantic Web and Web 2.0, the paradigm shift of the Web is on resource-centered services. That is, the focus now moves from having just rich resources to the meta-information of describing the resources. The relevant standards, RDF(Resource Description Language) and Topic Maps, of describing the meta-information are defined and adopted by W3C and ISO respectively. Describing meta-information in such a XML form could be burdensome to participants. Semantic Wiki extended from 1)WikiWikiWeb is proposed to deal with the problem. It enables users to generate RDF meta-information about Wiki pages with simple usages of the grammar. We discuss the way of improving interoperability between Topic Maps-based semantic Wiki papges and RDF-based ones. The method proposed by RDFTM task force is present with the usage of high-level Wiki grammar for facilitating low-level transformation.

Digital Application of Intangible Cultural Heritage from the Perspective of Cultural Ecology

  • This paper explored the digital application of intangible cultural heritage from the perspective of cultural ecology. Through field investigations, combined with cultural ecology theory, an ontology-based semantic web technology was proposed, and Nanjing "Yunjin" brocade weaving technique was selected as the research object. The specific steps were as follows: First, based on the field surveys and cultural ecology theory, the intangible cultural ecological environment was divided into natural and social environments. Next, constructing the intangible cultural heritage ontology was constructed, including the collection and collation of Nanjing Yunjin weaving technique knowledge corpus, based on user needs analysis and corpus analysis, CIDOC CRM was used to create rules to build the ontology. Finally, based on the MediaWiki platform and Semantic MediaWiki, the semantic web model of the intangible cultural heritage was designed, and its semantic retrieval function was realized, thereby achieving the practical application of intangible cultural heritage digitization. Based on the perspective of cultural ecology, a set of intangible digital application models was proposed, which expanded the digital application of the cultural ecology theory, verified the application of this model in the sustainable development of cultural tourism, and provided reference for the sustainable development of cultural tourism.

A WordNet-based Open Market Category Search System for Efficient Goods Registration (효율적인 상품등록을 위한 워드넷 기반의 오픈마켓 카테고리 검색 시스템)

  • Open Market is one of the key factors to accelerate the profit. Usually retailers sell items in several Open Market. One of the challenges for retailers is to assign categories of items with different classification systems. In this research, we propose an item category recommendation method to support appropriate products category registration. Our recommendations are based on semantic relation between existing and any other Open Market categorization. In order to analyze correlations of categories, we use Morpheme analysis, Korean Wiki Dictionary, WordNet and Google Translation API. Our proposed method recommends a category, which is most similar to a guide word by measuring semantic similarity. The experimental results show that, our system improves the system accuracy in term of search category, and retailers can easily select the appropriate categories from our proposed method.

  • 사이버커뮤니티의 발전상은 까페, 싸이, 블로그, 휴대폰 등의 형태로 개체화와 나열형 정보에 주력되어, 정보홍수로 인한 역설적 정보빈곤의 부작용 또한 커지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 나열형 정보의 단점을 극복할 수 있는 공유형 정보의 구현방안으로서, '의미소개체화 기반 게임형토론시스템'을 제안한다. 기존에 나열형 정보의 대안이자 웹 2.0의 모델로 주목받아온 위키(wiki)방식의 원론적 공유에서 나아가, 구성개체 간 상호평가가 수치로 교환되고 그에 따른 가중치가 활용되는 방안이다. 이는 시맨틱 웹과 웹2.0의 통합적 논의이며, 인터넷의 자연스런 발전방향이다. 이 시스템이 구현된 인터넷(Internet)을 포럼넷(Forumnet)이라 부를 수 있다. 포럼넷은 현실적, 기술적으로 개인기반평가에서 개체기반평가로 구현되어갈 것이다.

Component Grid: A Developer-centric Environment for Defense Software Reuse (컴포넌트 그리드: 개발자 친화적인 국방 소프트웨어 재사용 지원 환경)

  • In the defense software domain where large-scale software products in various application areas need to be built, reusing software is regarded as one of the important practices to build software products efficiently and economically. There have been many efforts to apply various methods to support software reuse in the defense software domain. However, developers in the defense software domain still experience many difficulties and face obstacles in reusing software assets. In this paper, we analyze practical problems of software reuse in the defense software domain, and define core requirements to solve those problems. To meet these requirements, we are currently developing the Component Grid system, a reuse-support system that provides a developer-centric software reuse environment. We have designed an architecture of Component Grid, and defined essential elements of the architecture. We have also developed the core approaches for developing the Component Grid system: a semantic-tagging-based requirement tracing method, a reuse-knowledge representation model, a social-network-based asset search method, a web-based asset management environment, and a wiki-based collaborative and participative knowledge construction and refinement method. We expect that the Component Grid system will contribute to increase the reusability of software assets in the defense software domain by providing the environment that supports transparent and efficient sharing and reuse of software assets.
