  • The purpose of this study were to develop of courseware using scaffolding strategy and to investigate the effect of courseware instruction upon students' conceptual understanding and affective domain including effort and self-checking. 10th grade students in the experimental and control groups were selected from high school at Cheongwon-gun in Chungbuk, and taught about chemical reaction rate for 3 class hours. The students in the experimental group studied individually through courseware using scaffolding strategy and worksheet and teacher-centered expository lesson was used in the control group. Prior to the instructions, test specification for problem-solving assessment (TSPSA) was administered and the scores of the previous science achievement test were obtained. After the instructions, the posttest on conceptual understanding and TSPSA were administered. Results of this study revealed that the mean score of the experimental group in the conceptual understanding test was similar to that of the control group at statistically significant level. This result implies that the courseware using scaffolding strategy could be a tool of the individualized instruction. The experimental group improved significantly better in three components of the TSPSA such as effort, self-checking, and cognitive strategy. From this result, it is considered that learners' self regulation is improved by being taken over responsibility of learning. So, it is suggested that instruction using scaffolding strategy is needed in science class to improve self-leading learning ability.

  • In this paper, a solid capsule was prepared using a crystal growth type inorganic material capable of hydration reaction. The solid capsules were mixed at 3, 5, and 10% according to the composition ratio of 8:2, 7:3, 6:4 based on the cement mass, and the self-healing mortar was mixed, Durable healing properties were evaluated through the water permeability test. As a result of the water level permeability test, the effect of optimally improving the natural healing performance was shown by mixing the solid capsules prepared in a composition ratio of 7:3 of the solid capsules. In the case of a crack width of 0.3mm or less, it is estimated that more than 90% of the self-healing performance can be secured. As a result, it was judged that the self-healing performance of the solid capsule had an effect on the durable healing properties through the water permeability test, It is judged that there is a tendency to improve self-healing performance according to the mixing of solid capsules.

  • This paper presents the buckling behavior of a pile considering its self-weight. The differential equation and boundary conditions governing the buckling of partially embedded piles in nonhomogeneous soils are derived. The buckling load and mode shape of the pile are numerically computed by the Runge-Kutta method combined with the Regula-Falsi algorithm. The obtained numerical solutions for bucking loads agree well with the results available from the literature. Numerical examples are given to analyze the buckling load and mode shape of the piles as affected by the self-weight, embedment ratio, slenderness ratio and boundary condition of the pile as well as the aspect ratio and rigidity ratio of the subgrade reaction. It is found that the self-weight of the pile leads to the reduction of the buckling load, indicating that neglecting the effect of self-weight may overestimate the buckling load of partially embedded piles.

  • We fabricate organic-inorganic hybrid thin film for the purpose of encapsulation by molecular layer deposition (MLD) using Trimethylaluminium (TMA) and Adipoyl Chloride (AC). Ellipsometry was employed to verify self limiting reaction of ALD. Linear relationship between number of cycle and thickness was obtained. We found that desirable organic thin film fabrication is possible by MLD surface reaction in nanoscale. Purging was carried out after dosing of each precursor to form monolayer in each sequence. We also confirmed roughness of the organic thin film by atomic force microscopy. We deposit TMA and AC at $70^{\circ}C$ and that 1.78A root mean square was obtained which indicates that uniform organic thin film was formed. We confirmed precursor's functional group by IR spectrum. We calculated WVTR of organic-inorganic hybrid super-lattice epitaxial layer using Ca test. WVTR indicates superlattice film can be possibly use as encapsulation in flexible devices.

  • We fabricated a new type of hybrid film using molecular layer deposition (MLD). The MLD is a gas phase process analogous to atomic layer deposition (ALD) and also relies on a saturated surface reaction sequentially which results in the formation of a monolayer in each sequence. In the MLD process, polydiacetylene (PDA) layers were grown by repeated sequential surface reactions of titanium tetrachloride and 2,4-hexadiyne-1,6-diol with ultraviolet (UV) polymerization under a substrate temperature of $100^{\circ}C$. Ellipsometry analysis showed a self-limiting surface reaction process and linear growth of the hybrid films. Polymerization of the hybrid films was confirmed by infrared (IR) spectroscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Composition of the films was confirmed by IR spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron (XP) spectroscopy. The titanium oxide cross-linked polydiacetylene (TiOPDA) hybrid films exhibited good thermal and mechanical stabilities.

  • We fabricate encapsulation-layer of OLED panel from organic-inorganic hybrid thin film by atomic layer deposition (ALD) molecular layer deposition (MLD) using Al2O3 as ALD process and Adipoyl Chloride (AC) and 1,4-Butanediamine as MLD process. Ellipsometry was employed to verify self-limiting reaction of MLD. Linear relationship between number of cycle and thickness was obtained. By such investigation, we found that desirable organic thin film fabrication is possible by MLD surface reaction in monolayer scale. Purging was carried out after dosing of each precursor to eliminate physically adsorbed precursor with surface. We also confirmed roughness of the organic thin film by atomic force microscopy (AFM). We deposit AC and 1,4-Butanediamine at $70^{\circ}C$ and investigated surface roughness as a function of increasing thickness of organic thin film. We confirmed precursor's functional group by IR spectrum. We calculated WVTR of organic-inorganic hybrid super-lattice epitaxial layer using Ca test. WVTR indicates super-lattice film can be possibly use as encapsulation in flexible devices.

  • We developed an efficient three-step synthetic protocol of $\gamma$-hydroxybutenolides starting from the Baylis-Hillman adducts: (i) bromination, (ii) Barbier reaction and (iii) one-pot $K_2CO_3$-mediated synthesis of $\gamma$-hydroxybutenolides. In addition, we showed the synthetic applicability of butenolides including self-dimerization, conjugate addition reaction, and alkylations.

  • Atomic layer epitaxy is a relatively new epitaxial pprocess chracterized by the alternate and separate exposure of a susbstrate surface to the reactants contaning the constituent element of a compound semicoductror. The ideal ALE is expected to provide sevral advantageous as petcts for growing complicated heterostrutures such as relativly easy controls of the layer thinkness down to a monolayer and in forming abrupt heterointerfaces though monolayer self-saturatio of the growth. In addition, since ALE is stongly dependent on the surface reaction, the growth can also be controlled by photo-excitation which provides activation can be energies for each step of the reaction paths. The local growth acceleration by photo-excitation can be exploited for growing several device strures on the same wafer, which provides another important practical advantage. The ALE growth of GaAs has advanced to the point the laser opertion has been achieved from AlGs/GaAs quantun well structures where thee active layers were grown by thermal and Ar-laser assisted ALE. The status of the ALE growth of GaAs and other III-V compounds will be reviewed with respect to the growth saturation behavior and the electrical properties of the grown crystals.

  • Numerical simulations are conducted to investigate the feature of spontaneous ignition of hydrogen within a certain length of downstream tube released by the failure of pressure boundaries of various geometric assumption. The results show that the ignition feature can be varied with the shape of pressure boundary. The ignition at the contact region are developed at the spherical pressure boundaries due to multi-dimensional shock interactions, whereas the local ignition is developed in limited area such as boundary layer at the planar pressure boundary conditions. The spontaneous ignition inside the tube can be generated from the reaction region of only boundary layer regardless of existence of the reaction of core region.
