Exploring Knowledge Processing in a Social Complex Adaptive Organization : Wikipedia through the Lens of the LIFE Model

  • A deeper understanding of how organizations behave as social complex adaptive systems is needed. In this paper we demonstrate how the Leadership Invigorating Flows of Energies model can help with this understanding. The model highlights the role of emergent leadership as a force encouraging the creation, diffusion, and utilization of knowledge through self-organizing mechanisms. We illustrate our approach by examining Wikipedia and show how it can be described as a social CAS. Our analysis of Wikipedia describes how emerging intrapreneurship behaviors result in dynamic flows of knowledge and self-organizing feedback mechanisms across the organization. We provide implications for organization studies and present evidence to support claims made by advocates of complexity theory. We conclude by proposing that Wikipedia can be seen as a new form of organization, and finish with a brief note highlighting a possible way forward.

조직 내부자의 정보보안 준수 향상에 대한 연구 (A Study on Improving Information Security Compliance of Organization Insider)

  • The expansion of information sharing activities using online can increase the threat of information exposure by increasing the diversity of approaches to information within an organization. The purpose of this study is to present conditions for improving the information security compliance intention of insiders to improve the level of information security within the organization. In detail, the study applies the theory of planned behavior that clearly explains the cause of an individual's behavior and proposes a way to increase the compliance intention by integrating the social control theory and goal-setting theory. The study presented research models and hypotheses based on previous studies, collected samples by applying a questionnaire technique, and tested hypotheses through structural equation modeling. As a result, information security attitude, subjective norms, and self-efficacy had a positive influence on the intention to comply. Also, attachment, commitment, and involvement, which are the factors of social control theory, formed a positive attitude toward information security. Goal difficulty and goal specificity, which are the factors of goal setting theory, formed a positive self-efficacy. The study presents academic and practical implications in terms of suggesting a method of improving the information security compliance intention of employees.

조직 구성원의 자아 일치성이 신규 정보기술 도입의 성과에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Organization Member's Self-Congruity on the Performance of the Acquisition of New Information Technology)

  • These days, the business environment such as Information Technology (IT) is rapidly changing, and organizations are consistently trying to change themselves for the survival and success under the changing environment. In this situation, change management is very important because it draws the change behaviors of organization members for the success of organizational change. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the organization members' psychological factors on the performance of the acquisition of new IT, which is one of the most important organizational change. Based on previous studies in the area of organizational change, organization members' resistance to change, self-congruity theory, change activities and organizational performance, the research model is developed for validating the effect of organization members' self-congruity on the performance of the acquisition of new IT. Statistical analyses show that self-congruity has a significant effect on the change activities. In particular, private self-congruity has more impact on the change activities than public self-congruity. In addition, self-leadership, rewards and recognitions, and the diffusion of change activities have significant effects on job satisfaction. Self-leadership has a significant effect on organizational commitment.

Evaluation of Problems in Tourism Systems and Their Evolutionary Status Based on Self-Organization Theory

  • With the rapid development of the tourism economy, large-scale construction of tourist attractions to achieve resource utilization and ensure the healthy development of the tourism industry has become a hot topic. However, there are still issues with resource utilization and coordinated management in the economic development of the tourism industry, which in turn affects the coordinated development of the tourism industry economy. Therefore, this study utilizes self-organization theory to explore the structure, organizational mechanism, conditional driving force of evolution, and evolutionary operation mechanism of the tourism system, analyze the current tourism situation in Hunan Province and related regions, and construct a self-organization evolution model of the tourism system. The result shows that the cumulative variance contribution rate of tourism areas in Hunan Province is 78.8%, with Zhangjiajie having the highest industrial management factors and tourism resource levels in the province, with 1.6 and 3.2 respectively. Hunan Province has abundant tourism resources but overall uneven development, with a comprehensive score of -1.03. Therefore, it is necessary to leverage the coordination advantages of various departments and industries to promote sustainable and healthy development of tourism areas. The self-organizing evolution of the tourism system not only discovers the current problems of the tourism industry, but also provides theoretical support and mechanism suggestions for the tourism system.

비영리단체의 자선충동 동기에 관한 연구 -자기결정성 이론을 중심으로- (The study on the Consumer's Motivation of Charity Impulse in Non-profit Organization-Based on Self-Determination Theory)

  • 본 연구는 비영리단체에 기부를 하는 소비자들의 자선충동의 동기가 심리적 성과에 미치는 영향을 탐색적으로 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 자기결정성 이론에 근거한 비영리단체에 대한 자선충동 동기가 소비자-비영리단체 간의 동일시를 매개변수로 하여 기부충성도에 영향을 미치는 요인임을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과 비영리단체의 자선적 충동 동기의 경우 개인의 자율성과 해당 비영리기관과의 관련 및 유능성이 중요한 요인으로 나타났다. 특히 관련 및 유능성의 경우 비영리 단체와의 동일시에 중요한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 기부자들이 비영리단체에 대한 심리적 측면에서의 자선충동 동기에 관한 연구가 전무한 실정에서 자선모금기관이 재원을 확보할 수 있는 효과적인 마케팅 전략을 구축하는데 기초자료를 제공하며 소비자들의 자선충동 동기에 대해 탐색하는 최초의 연구로서 중요한 의의를 가진다.

ERG요인이 조직기반자긍심에 미치는 영향: 회복탄력성의 매개효과를 중심으로 (The Impacts of ERG Factors on Organization-based Self-esteem: Focusing on the Mediating Effects Resilience)

  • 본 연구는 ERG의 구성요소들이 회복탄력성을 매개로 조직기반자긍심에 미치는 영향을 검증하는데 초점을 두었다. 특히 ERG와 조직구성원들의 심리적 요인 간의 관계를 규명함으로써 욕구와 태도 간의 영향관계를 살펴보았다. 이를 검증하기 위해 10여 개 기업에 종사하는 근로자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 그 자료를 토대로 실증분석을 실시하였다. 실증분석을 통해 ERG의 하위요인인 생존욕구, 관계욕구, 성장욕구는 모두 회복탄력성 및 조직기반자긍심을 향상시키는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 회복탄력성은 ERG 하위요인과 조직기반자긍심간의 관계에 있어서 모두 매개 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론에서 연구의 간략한 요약 및 실무적 시사점, 그리고 향후 연구 방향를 제시하였다.

  • Facing the globalization of world economy, intense market competition, radical change of information technology, firms are obliged to create a new type of organizations characterized by flexibility and adaptability to new and dynamic environments. This paper reviews the theories of complexity in physics briefly and discusses the implications of them on the management of business organizations. It analogizes the core concepts from complexity theories such as cooperative phenomena, self-organization, adaptation, positive feedback, and butterfly effect, and attempts to identify their implications on business management. Particularly, it suggests principles of 'Fractal' management which apply the fractal structure to the business organization.

  • 본 연구는 복잡다단한 환경변화에 효과적으로 대응하기 위하여 오늘날 여러 학문 분야에서 주로 이용되고 있는 복잡계 이론(Complex System Theory)의 사고와 방법론을 기반으로 테러대응을 위한 분야별 제 접근에 대하여 논하는데 그 목적이 있다. 그 결과 초기조건의 민감성, 프랙탈과 자기유사성, 자기 조직화, 창발, 공진화, 혼돈의 가장자리의 복잡계 이론을 통하여 테러대응 분야의 적용가능성을 은유적으로 탐색할 수 있을 것이다.

  • The aim of this study is to understand and redefine the nature of architectural environment within the paradigm of natural science. The chaos theory non-equilibrium thermodynamics theory self-organization of modern physics offer new insights to explain not only natural phenomena but also to define creative and dynamic architectural environment. First natural laws in modern physics like the arrow of time but is related not only with certainty but also possibility so nature is understood as a constantly changing process of evolution. Second the new architectural environment is defined as a kind of fluid and irreducible organic biosytem that cannot be fully understood by modernist idea of architecture. It is conceived of as a fluid constantly changing self-oraganizing system that consists of different situations events movements and programs in uncertain and irreducible time frame. Third insights and implications of natural science offer new language and strategy for design and the two disciplines can be understood as interdependent and co-evolving

조직구성원의 정보보안 정책 준수의도: 계획된 행동이론, 목표설정이론, 억제이론의 적용 (The Employee's Information Security Policy Compliance Intention : Theory of Planned Behavior, Goal Setting Theory, and Deterrence Theory Applied)

  • 정보보안의 중요성의 증대에 따라, 조직은 정보보안을 위한 정책 개발 및 기술 도입을 위한 지속적인 투자를 하고 있다. 조직 내부의 보안 수준을 높이기 위해서는 조직원들의 보안 준수의도 향상을 위한 조직 차원의 체계적인 지원이 필요하다. 본 연구는 조직의 보안 정책 기획 및 실행에 있어, 조직원의 보안 준수를 개선시킬 수 있는 방법으로서, 보안 정책 목표 설정 및 제재 실행을 제시하고, 조직원의 보안 준수의도를 설명하는 계획된 행동이론(Theory of Planned Behavior)와의 연관 관계를 검증하고자 한다. 연구가설 검증을 위하여 구조방정식 모델링을 사용하며, 정보보안 정책이 도입되어 있는 조직의 조직원들을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 346개의 응답을 기반으로 가설을 검증하였다. 결과는 목표 설정 수준과 제재 실행 수준이 조직원들의 준수의도에 영향을 주는 선행 변수들인 자기효능감과 대처효능감에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다. 결과적으로, 본 연구는 조직원의 보안 준수의도 향상을 위해서 보안정책 목표 설정의 중요성과 제재의 실행의 중요성을 제시함으로써, 조직 내 정보보안부서가 수행해야할 효과적인 조직 보안을 위한 전략적 행동 방향을 제시하였다.
