  • It is important to understand the process of technology diffusion among end users for effectively implementing adoption and coping with frequent changes in the environment. Previous studies indicate that information and communication technology (ICT) adoption is affected by innovation influence such as usefulness, ease of use and self-efficacy. Most of these studies, however, bypassed imitation influence such as subjective norms, word-of-mouth, and advertising, specifically, interactive innovation having critical mass in technology acceptance research. Thus, this study investigates imitation influence in individual adoption of mobile communication technology, more specifically, mobile phones, using Mahaian's diffusion model in individual ICT adoption.

Method: The sample group consisted of 76 hospitalized children in 2 University Hospitals located in Busan. The experimental group was given the program on admission and feedback was obtained on the 3rd day and again 24 hours later. Data was analyzed using t-test and ANOVA in the SPSS program package. Result: There were significant differences, in information(t=4.235, p=0.000) and coping effort criteria (t=2.922, p=0.005) between the experimental and control groups. There was a non-significant difference in attitude criteria between the two groups(t=1.009, p=0.316). Conclusion: It was found that the adjustment promoting program for hospital life for school aged children was effective, but not enough to promote self-esteem. The program, based on a learning theory, was improved and shown to be an effective and strong method to promote adjustment of school-aged children.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of uncertainty and anxiety in families of hospitalized children. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires which were constructed to include parent's perception of uncertainty and state anxiety. The subjects consisted of 126 families of hospitalized children in one university-affiliated hospital in Daegu. The data were analyzed by the SPSS program. The results were as follows; 1. The mean score of uncertainty was 64.70 (Range=31-95). The mean scores of subsets of the uncertainty were followed as: lack of clarity (2.59), unpredictability (2.46), lack of information (2.22) and ambiguity (2.14). 2. The mean score of state anxiety was 47.93 (Range=20-67). 3.The level of uncertainty was positively correlated to the level of state anxiety. 4. The level of anxiety was different depending on their religion and monthly income. The above findings indicated that the level of uncertainty and the state anxiety in families of hospitalized children were positively correlated. Therefore, nursing intervention for reducing uncertainty and anxiety and improving coping method should be provided for families of hospitalized children.

  • The use of the internet to facilitate commerce among companies promises vast benefits. Lots of e-marketplaces are building for several industries such as chemistry, airplane, and automobile industries. This study proposed new B2B EC business model for the shipping industry which concerns relatively massive fixed assets to be fully utilized. To be successful the proposed model gives participants to support useful information. To do this the expert system is constructed as the hybrid prediction system of neural network (NN) and memory based reasoning (MBR) with self-organizing map (SOM) and knowledge augmentaton technique using qualitative reasoning (QR). The expert system supports participants useful information coping with dynamic market environment. with this transportation companies are induced to participate in the proposed e-marketplace and helped for exchanges easily. Also participants would utilize their assets fully through B2B exchanges.

The variables which independently affected the family strengths have influence in the following order ; individual marital satisfaction family's S.E.S(middle) self esteem, instrumental support from society and husband's income(middle level). These results show that the variable related to the family streng hs are multi-dimensional. Accordingly for the purpose of fortifying family in strengths educational programs should be prepared according to multi-dimensional characteristics.
