The main purposes of this paper are to determine the major factors influencing visual preference in soundproofing barriers in urban places and to provide the essential information needed in the design process of soundproofing harriers. This paper consists of two phases. The first phase presents photos of the seven types of soundproofing barriers generally seen around the Daejeon area, which were taken from three places for a photo montage. The evaluation of 21 different soundproofing barriers was conducted by college students. The second phase of this paper depicts the analysis process. Firstly, the visual preferences as found from the collected data were evaluated by five semantic degrees. The evaluated data were processed by descriptive test, a correlation test and ANOVA test methods using an SPSS statistical package. 1. Currently, visual preference in soundproofing barriers is low in urban places. Therefore, it is necessary to design visually pleasing soundproofing barriers to improve the visual qualify of urban areas. 2. Soundproofing barriers of mixed wood and acrylic scored the highest among selections while those with aluminium steel scored the lowest. 3. Environmental friendly and transparent conditions should be met to allow soundproofing barriers to be visually pleasing.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the jeans advertising campaigns of the 1990's in South Korean magazine advertisements and their relation to the beauty trends of the 1990's in South Korea. There are three significant and varying periods in the 1990's. Each period will be dissected into four categories. The four categories are 1. Catchphrases 2. Pose selection of the models 3. Selection of models 4. Overall images and themes of the ads. The results are as follows : 1. 1990∼1993 ; Youth & Freedom From 1990 to 1993, jean ads emphasized the catchphrsase and the dynamic pose more and used the Korean model. The ads displayed youthful energy and the freedom of the younger generation. 2. 1994∼1997 ; Sex Appeal From 1994 to 1997, the second transition in jeans advertisements focus shifted from the youthful images of the early 90's to more sexually oriented ads. In terms of model selections and pose, Caucasian models instead of Korean models, and static pose were used more. The ads emphasized the image more than the catchphrase. 3. 1998∼1999 ; Diversity of Individuality & Naturalism During 1998 to the present day, the jeans ads no longer focused on groups but the diversity of individuality. The other focus of ads was the naturalism and the harmony with the nature. Both the static and dynamic pose, Korean model, and the image ads were used.

Levels of blister rust infection (from Cronartium ribicola) varied in western white pine(Pinus monticola Dougl.) seedlings grown in two nurseries in northern Idaho. This observation suggested the potential importance of environmental components operating on the blister rust pathosystem. In an experiment designed to test the influence of environmental conditions at two nurseries, seedlings of a single genetic source were unintentionally held in cold storage for 6 months longer at one nursery than at the other. Subsequently, these seedlings, which had been growing under nursery conditions for 7 months or 1 month, were inoculated with blister rust spores on September 9th, 1999. Infection efficiency measured on the seedlings with only 1 month of growth was 70X greater than on the seedlings that had 7 months for their new growth to mature. Results from this nursery test and infection levels of northern Idaho resistant selections in mild climates suggest that expression of genes related to rust resistance in western white pine can be manipulated by regulation of phonology. If so, several new molecular tools may be employed to enhance our understanding of environmental regulation of genes for blister rust resistance.

The present approach based on the genetic algorithm with improved selections of bonds was adopted to extract a bridged T equivalent circuit elements of $\times10\mu m^2$InGaP/GaAs HBT. the small-signal model parameters were extracted using the genetic algorithm from S-parameters measured at different frequencies under multiple forward-active biases, which demonstrate physically meaningful values and consistency. The agreement between the measured and modeled S-parameters is excellent over the frequency range of 2 to 26.5GHz.

The purpose of this study was to present the method to choose the optimization machining condition for the wire electric machine. This was completed by examining the ever- changing quality of the material and by improving the function of the wire electric discharge machine. Precision metal mold products and the unmanned wire electric discharge machining system were used and then applied in industrial fields. This experiment uses the wire electric discharge machine with brass wire electrode of 0.25mm. To measure the precision of the machining surface, average values are obtained from 3 samples of measures of center-line average roughness by using a third dimension gauge and a stylus surface roughness gauge. In this experiment, we changed no-node voltage to 7 and 9, pulse-on-time to $6\mu\textrm{s}$, $8\mu\textrm{s}$ and $10\mu\textrm{s}$, pulse-off-time to $8\mu\textrm{s}$, $10\mu\textrm{s}$ and $13\mu\textrm{s}$, and experimented on wire tension at room temperature by 1000gf, 1200gf, and 1400gf, respectively

This study is to select good diploid clones and develope them into FDR clones. Seventeen diploid clones were selected by tuber plants from the imported diploid potato seeds and from the progenies of the crosses between them. The characteristics of the selected clones were reported. Fifteen clones were crossed among them or open pollinated or bulk pollinated, and 18 selections were made from the seed progenies of these pollinations. Male and female unreduced gametes were searched by crossing 2x, 4x and by microtechnique. Only one clone, D6-21 was found to produce unreduced male gamete with the rate of 27-30% by FDR. Unreduced female gamete has not been found among these diploids.

Recently, the Go game has been performed between the 'AlphaGo' of the DeepMind and Lee Sedol, a famous professional Go-player of Korea, which leads to arise a lot of interests in the AI (Artificial Intelligence) research area. Based on the Fuzzy logic of the AI, we have also developed another game's AI, .i.e., the Yutnori game, one of Korean traditional board games. However, it is not easy and simple to consider all the cases of the Yutnori game since it is a non-perfect information game in terms of the AI. Thus, we have developed the Fuzzy-logic-based AI which tries to simulate humans' selections, meaning that the suggested AI has focused on the humans' choices depending on diverse situations in the Yutnori. With our extensive simulations using the suggested Yutnori AI, we have analyzed its performances with respect to 10 Yutnori situations among various scenarios. In conclusion, our suggested AI have demonstrated that 6 out of 10 situations are exactly same with the humans' choices and the rest 4 cases are also similar to that of human's, which reveals that our Fuzz-logic-based Yutnori AI can effectively simulate human's choices.

It is generally analyzed that the subject area of grassland development seen in the North Korea area following unification with the South Korea includes hillland, h o w upland, tideland, and other expected grassland development areas. Possibilities and prospects for grassland development become higher if such grassland is developed by methods of environmental affinity suitable to the geographical and environmental conditions of North korea. First, the grassland development has to be based on grass species which are both cold resistant and suitable to the climate and the soil conditions of North korea. In addition, research on adaptable species, mixture combination selections and grassland establishment methods should be performed along with the accumulation of domestic data. The kind of research can be conducted in such areas as Yenben in China(Yenben University), Taekwanryung and Taeback mountains, where geographical features are similar to those of North korea. This research is possible because research can easily be given access to these locations. Hence, it is desirable to prepare for the unification of the Korean peninsula by caning out basic and applied research, and by way of accumulating data in the relevant fields.

The pumb gene encoding a basic amino acid transport protein in Neurospora crassa could be cloned by using a mutant strain defective in pmb gene as a host strain, using a negative selection on the media containing amino acid analogue canavanine. To select positive transformants of the genes for cloning, an auxotrophic marker (his-2) was added to a pmb mutant strain by mating ; a triple mutant (pmn : pmb : his-2) was constructued by crossing a strain defective in basic amino acid transport system (# 1683-bat um 535 "A") to a double mutant strain defective in neutral amino acid transport and histidine production (mitrol : his-2 "a"). Crossing was performed on synthetic crossing (SC) media containing histidine. The pmn : pmb and pmn :pmb : his-2 strains were selected among the progeny colonies from crosses on plates containing 5- .mu.g/ml para-fluoro-phenylalanine (PFPA), 200 .mu.g/ml canavanine, and 500 .mu.g/ml histidine. The selected colonies were cultured on minimal media with or without histidine for discarding pmn : pmb strain, because the pmn : pmb : his -2 strain grows only on histidine containing media. The pmn :pmb : his-2 strain selected can be used as a host strain for the cloning of the pmb and the pmn genes from a Neurospora genomic library by means of positive selections.

To obtain basic data used for establishing the criteria of deterioration in renovation of educational facilities, current problems of material and method and quality improvements were examined. In this study, the elementary schools built 20 and 70 years ago were unintentionally chosen and studied. With the data of the repair of old educational facilities, the results are as follows. The First problem is that the construction priority which was based on non-experts decision. The Second problem is that maintenance method which changes the materials after their life was ended. So, refer to remodeling of educational facilities, the selections of proper materials and methods to use of each function were main object in this study.
