Using next-generation sequencing, we conducted a genome-wide scan of selective sweeps associated with selection toward genetic improvement in Thoroughbreds. We investigated potential phenotypic consequence of putative candidate loci by candidate gene association mapping for the finishing time in 240 Thoroughbred horses. We found a significant association with the trait for Ral GApase alpha 2 (RALGAP2) that regulates a variety of cellular processes of signal trafficking. Neighboring genes around RALGAP2 included insulinoma-associated 1 (INSM1), pallid (PLDN), and Ras and Rab interactor 2 (RIN2) genes have similar roles in signal trafficking, suggesting that a co-evolving gene cluster located on the chromosome 22 is under strong artificial selection in racehorses.

‘Dongjanggun’ was developed at the Gyeongbuk Agricultural Research and Extension Services, Taegu in 2000. It was selected among the local varieties gathered korean native chinese chive from 1993 to 1996. It has longer and narrower leaves, stronger flavor than check variety ‘Greenbelt’. And also, contents of ascorbic acid in the leaves of ‘Dongjanggun’ was higher than the ‘Greenbelt’s. Number of tillers per plant was greater in ‘Dongjanggun’ than that in ‘Greenbelt’ during the winter in unheated plastic house. Its growth and regrowing velocity after cutting of top leaves were vigorous. Number of flowers and seeds per umbel were fewer in ‘Dongjanggun’ than in ‘Greenbelt’. Average yield was 6% higher than ‘Greenbelt’s during the thee years.

In order to investigate the possibility of wine-making with the grape variety cultivating in Korea, the basic analysises were carried out; analysis of the grape maturity during ripening period, the composition of grape juice, and the chemical components of wine from different varieties. Also the yeasts existing naturally on the grape were isolated and identified. For the selection of strain, the characteristics of 6 strains were studied. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1. The reducing sugar content increased considerably during two weeks after the ordinary grape-gathering period. 2. The sugar content was highest in Muscat bailey A, which could be fermented naturally. The other varieties, Campbell Early, Steuben, and Alden needed chaptalisation for wine-making. 3. The permanaganate number and the methanol content of wine from all varieties were lower than french wine. 4. The sensory evaluation of wine showed that the pink wine was appreciated better than the red wine of same variety and the foxy taste of wine from hybrid grape influenced little to Korean. 5. The selected 6 strains were identified as Saccharomyces chevaliers, Saccharomyces capensis and Saccharomyces globosus. The strain No. 3 and No. 4 showed the most excellent characters for wine-making.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of selection attribute in big discount stores upon post-purchase consumer behavior and provide reference materials required for big discount stores to develop customer satisfaction strategies. As a result, this study shows the following findings: First, product-related factors had positive effects on post-purchase consumer behavior. Second, service-related factors had positive effects on post-purchase consumer behavior. Third, store-related factors had positive effects on post-purchase consumer behavior. Conclusively, it is advisable that big discount stores provide a variety of personalized services for customers to create and attract their trust, motivating effective recommendation to their acquaintances.

'Sweet Pinky' was developed by National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science in 1995. The seedling materials, obtained after selfing of dark pink medium variety 'Pinglong' from 1996 to 2002, were cultivated to 169 seedling lines. The dark pink medium-phalaenopsis '95-183-54' was selected for excellent fragrance and branching habit by individual selection. The selected line was multiplicated and the growth characteristics were investigated for the first examination from 2003 to 2007. It was named as 'Wonkyo F2-17' in 2008 and investigated for the second examination of growth characteristics. The examination was executed for stability, uniformity, yearly reproductibility, and public fancy. It was selected as a high quality cultivar with sweet fragrance and excellent branching habit from the selection council of new cultivars for agricultural products; thereafter, it was registered as variety 'Sweet Pinky' in 2008.

'Jinmi' was released by National Horticultural Research Institute in 1998 as a white-fleshed, mid- to late-maturing, and clingstone peach variety, which originated from the crossing of 'Hakuho' and 'Nunomewase' in 1982. The selection was tested for regional adaptability as 'Wonkyo Da-09' at 5 areas for 4 years from 1995. Fruits mature 5 to 7 days before 'Yumyeong' and have high sugar content, above $13.0^oBx$.

'Snow Angel' was developed by National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science in 2008. A cross was made between phalaenopsis '0361', a white and red lip small-medium variety, and Phalaenopsis 'S98PN1', a white and dark pink lip small-medium variety with pink net pattern. The seedling materials were cultivated to 83 seedling lines from 2000 to 2002. The white and pink lip small-phalaenopsis '99-0404-13' with flowers of round shape was selected by individual selection. The selected line was multiplicated and the growth characteristics were investigated for the first characteristic trial from 2003 to 2007. It was named as 'Wonkyo F2-18' in 2008 and investigated for the second characteristic trial of growth characteristics. The examination was executed for stability, uniformity, yearly reproducibility, and public fancy. It was selected as a high quality cultivar with excellent flower shape and flower color from the selection council of new cultivars for agricultural products, there after it was registered as 'Snow Angel' in 2008.

The purpose of this study is to suggest management strategies for both upscale hotel buffet restaurants and independent buffet restaurants by conducting an IPA(Important-Performance/satisfaction Analysis) on the selection attributes for buffet type restaurants. Additionally, the effects of the selection attributes' satisfaction on the "intention to recommend" was tested. Surveys were conducted from April 15th through May 4th, 2016 by using both SNS and off-line surveys of consumers with buffet restaurants dining experiences within the previous year, of which a total number of 160 questionnaires were used for the statistical analysis. The result showed a few different selection attributes in each quadrant; additionally, food quality and menu had positive effects on the "intention to recommend" for hotel buffet restaurants, while food quality was the only selection attribute with positive effects for independent buffet restaurants. Based on the results of the study, it can be suggested for the hotel buffet restaurants to constantly develop new and unique menu items to lead the needs of the fast changing consumers of today instead of focusing on the premium characteristics of upscale hotels and their brand names. In addition, offering a variety desserts seems to be something to re-consider for both types of buffet restaurants.

The amount of salt to make seed sorting solution of the specific gravity of 1.13 was reconsidered and determined as 3.8 kg salt in 18 L water, which is lower amount than currently used. Five rice cultivars were examined. Percent germination and seedling emergence were not similar. Seedling emergence rate of Japonica varieties, Nampyungbyeo and Daerypbyeo-1 were 87% and 95% under specific gravity of 1.13, respectively. Seedling emergence rate of Tongil type variety, Dasanbyeo was as high as 67% in specific gravity of 1.06. Seedling emergence rate of waxy rice, Hwasunchalbyeo and Aranghangchalbyeo were examined. Seedling emergence rate was 94% in both cultivars in specific gravity of 1.04. Seedling emergence rate was same in specific gravity of 1.08 which is generally used for selecting seed currently. Early growth (plant height, leaf number, and dry weight) were not significantly different by specific gravity within species. In all cultivars except waxy rice, highest seedling emergence rate was observed in specific gravity of 1.13 which is currently used for selection and decreased as specific gravity is lowed. However, considering total amount of seeds in each group of specific gravity, amount of seed in lower specific gravity group is relatively small and total seedling emergence rate within variety dose not show big difference. However, if seeds with low speicific gravity are produced due to the bad grain filling condition and consequently total seed content of low specific gravity increases, results will be differnt. Reduction in total growth and yield could occur. It will be important to comply with the seed sorting criterion of 1.13 for Japonica, 1.06 for Tongil, and 1.04 for waxy rice variety to ensure the maximum rice growth and yield.
