An overview of developments important in the future of animal breeding is discussed. Examples from the application of quantitative genetic principles to selection in chickens and mice are given. Lessons to be learned from these species are that selection for production traits in livestock must also consider selection for reproduction and other fitness-related traits and inbreeding should be minimized. Short-term selection benefits of best linear unbiased predictor methodology must be weighed against long-term risks of increased rate of inbreeding. Different options have been developed to minimize inbreeding rates while maximizing selection response. Development of molecular genetic methods to search for quantitative trait loci provides the opportunity for incorporating marker-assisted selection and introgression as new tools for increasing efficiency of genetic improvement. Theoretical and computer simulation studies indicate that these methods hold great promise once genotyping costs are reduced to make the technology economically feasible. Cloning and transgenesis are not likely to contribute significantly to genetic improvement of livestock production in the near future.
The primary purpose of this study is to promote and establish the development of home health care in Korea. It focuses on identifying and classifying the nursing activities that were provided by health professionals for patients who were admitted to two hospitals with cerebral vascular disease. And also. the study was conducted for comparison of client selection criteria between health professionals, and identifying patients who needed home health care The subjects of this study were 38 patients with cerebral vascular disease who were admitted to neuro-surgery wards at 2 hospitals with more than 500 beds in Daegu from November 1. through 30. 1991. Survey instruments were questionnaires to identify nursing activities and classify patients who needed home health care. Data was collelected by 1 doctor and 2 nurses per patient independently. They checked the same patient with the questionnaire on the same day and never communicated their information about patients with each other. All the questionnaires checked by doctor and nurses completely were 90. Statistical methods for analyzing data were non-parametric tests (Kruskal Wallice test and sign test). Correlation and percentages were used for further analysis. From this study. the following summarized conclusions have been drawn. 1. 10. 2 kinds of treatment and nursing activities were provided by health professionals for patients with cerebral vascular disease in hospital. 2. The points of nursing needs were between 32-37 out of a total of 500 as a result of the assessment about the health status of patients who were admitted to neuro-surgery ward with cerebral vascular disease. The points of Barthel Index of Functional Status Assessing Devices were between 24-34. Client Selection Criteria for Home Health Care was congruent between the Health professionals because the difference were not found to be statistically significant. 3. Patients classfied as home health care clients were $70-80\%$ of all patients who were admitted in hospital. There was not significant difference in patient selection criteria for home health care between health professionals statistically. As a result. the validity of different tools used in classifying home health care client were found to be congruent. 4. $80-85\%$ patients who could be discharged and sent to their homes early were identified as home health care clients. This study using client selection criteria. for home health care contributed to tool development because the validity of tools was verified. And also, this research represented that there was congruency in patient selection criteria for home health care between different health professionals. As a result, this study represented that many patients who were admitted to hospitals could be classified as a home health care clients. On the basis of the findings. further studies are required to develop client selection criteria using universal tools for classifying home health care clients in other chronic diseases. It is also recommended that comparative studies for client selection criteria between health professionals treating in other chronic diseases are necessary.

For the rapid development of embedded software, a variety of development tools have been developed. But, the embedded software developers do not use the available tools fluently and do not improve software productivity as expect because there are short of supporting utilization convenience of development tools. In this paper, we suggest a tool of building custom development environment for improving the utilization convenience of embedded software development tools. The custom development environment helps developers to rapid selection and access of appropriate tools required to develop the embedded software on the specific embedded system. In addition, it enables developers to handle the outputs from development tools associatively. Moreover it is very flexible in extension and integration because it's implementation based on Eclipse technology. We also perform the evaluation of our tool and successfully validate the utilization convenience of embedded development tools. Therefore, we expect that this tool enables developers to use the embedded development tools efficiently, and then it help improving embedded software productivity.
In order to improve the effectiveness of software process improvement, more than two models can be use to compensate the weakness of each other. One of integrated models is the one in which CMMI and software six sigma. However, it is very difficult for a small software development organization to select and apply an appropriate set of six sigma tools since there are a lot of six sigma tools and statistical knowledge is required. In this paper, we suggest a six sigma tool selection process to help small organizations select six sigma tools effectively based on organization business value. Thereby, small organizations can efficiently implement CMMI by adopting an appropriate set of six sigma toolkits.
This study addresses the evaluation criteria of multimedia authoring tools(MATs), the way which decision-maker can exclude outlier matrix from group using the concept of the compatibility index, and how AHP can be applied to the selection of MATs in a group decision-making environment. The AHP technique allows an evaluator to quantify the relative importance of elements at each hierarchy and to calculate the composite relative weights for each product(i.e. MATs). This decision process allows setting to priority of the MATs based on the AHP. The results indicated that technical ability of MATs was the most significant factor in affecting their decision, trailed by managerial efficiency and vendor support. To the experts, multimedia data support was the less important than development interface. Also, the results indicated that product A(0.510) was their first choice, trailed by product C(0.286) and B(0.204). Assessing the composite relative weights revealed that expert group's members were consistent with the rankings of decision variables(evaluation criteria variables) statistically in selecting their MATs. Therefore, we believed that expert group's members have achieved sufficient agreement to permit the use of geometric mean to average the group's preference without obscuring the differences of individual opinions.
In order to improve the international competitiveness of ferrule industry, the core technology of the second stage for ferrule grinding system is under developing. A high speed (10,000RPM) and high precision spindle system(Radial Runout 0.2 micrometer) bearing more cutting torque and force is designed considering the limitation of cost and size, the effect of heat, and various work-piece materials. A CAE software for machine elements and general machine system is used for preliminary evaluation and selection of design parameters. A dedicated program for the analysis of spindle system is used for final evaluation and selection of design parameter. The process how to evaluate and select using such tools are presented.

The purpose of this study was to develop a semigenerative process planning system for the turning processes required for rotational parts. The system developed in this study showed three major roles for a given part : selection of appropriate turning processes, scheduling of selected processes, and selection of appropriate tools to be used for selected processes. Four information files and six modules were developed to produce a process plan. When geometric features, dimension, tolerance, material types, and surface finish data are inputted to the system, optimal processes, processing sequences, selected tools, and machining costs are to be produced as a process plan.

Most of the planing models for automated manufacturing systems are based on the assumption that for each part there is only one process method available Really. for a part to be manufactured in an automated manufacturing system, a number of different process methods can be generated, each of which may require specific types of tools and auxiliary devices such as fixtures, grippers and feeders. In this paper, An optimal algorithm for the selection of a set of process methods with the minimum corresponding manufacturing cost and minimal number of tools and auxiliary devices Is proposed. The proposed optimal algorithm is based on branch and bound method which is one of the optimal solution methods.

Securing excellent pilots is not only directly linked to the military's improved combat capabilities, but also a way to minimize human and property losses from aircraft accidents. Therefore, a scientific method is needed to diagnose pilot aptitude from the pilot selection process and select those with high accident potential, those who are dropped out of the flight training process, and those who are not suitable for pilot life in advance. Developed countries have implemented pilot aptitude tests to solve these problems early on, but so far, the Korean Army has not introduced a pilot aptitude test system that uses diagnostic tools in the helicopter pilot selection process. Therefore, in this study, scientific diagnostic tools are developed for selecting helicopter pilots, and through this, it is predicted that the number of people who are likely to be dropped out of the training course and who have the potential for accidents will be selected in advance and eliminated in the selection process. In this context, prior research examined the key factors involved in the pilot aptitude test. Through this, the aptitude test items were developed and aptitude tests were conducted on student pilots currently in flight training, and the results of flight training were analyzed.
A framework of using and integrating GIS and OR tools for determining the best site selection has been provided. In this research, we demonstrated that both the P-Median heuristic method and MIP method can be successfully applied to the optimum site selection problem of oil tank location selection. Furthermore, the results identified by both approaches are identical. To accomplish this, both GIS road and maritime networks have been constructed and combined to calculated the minimum distance matrix, which is required by both approaches. After the application to the Korean peninsula, the facility locations chosen are Kunsan, Yosu, Busan, and Okgye for each district. As has been shown, the power of GIS and both algorithm have been demonstrated throughout the research and further similar research can also be conducted using the power of GIS and Operations Research tools.
