The Effect of DSC Analysis Condition on the Glass Transition Temperature of curred Epoxy This paper studies on the effect of DSC(Differential Scanning Calorimeter) analysis condition on the glass transition temperature of silica filled epoxy network polymer used for ultra-high voltage apparatus. The effects of temperature scanning rate specimen size and gas flow rate on measured glass transition temperature have been studied in order to select optimum thermal analysis condition. • WTO was established in 1995 and as many as 36 new members joined WTO until December 2017. Thus it would be interesting to see if new members have committed higher or lower levels of market opening compared to the original members. In this regard, a sophisticated scoring scheme is needed to quantify market opening commitments. After proper econometric model is established for the original members, same model can be applied to the new members for comparison. It was found that new members committed a much higher level of commitment than the original members. In addition, it was also found that transition economies committed higher levels than the non-transition economies. More interesting finding is that among the new members, the larger the economies or the larger the trading volume are, the closer was the level of commitment to the predicted level. Then the question is whether this difference was due to benign neglect by the new members or due to malign select by the original members.

  • Anti-lock brake system(ABS) are designed to prevent wheel lock on all wheels of the vehicle by sensing wheel angular speed, processing the speed sensor signals in suitable digital electronic control circuits and comanding electrohydraulic actuators to control brake pressure. This study considers a control of ABS using wheel circumferential acceleration thresholds which avoids dangerous wheel locking due to excessive brake pressure during the vehicle braking and discusses the 3-channels, 3-sensors ABS system that employs "independent control" technique for the front wheels and "select low" technique for the rear wheels. The validities of the ABS such as vehicle stability, steerability and stopping distance during braking are assured through the vehicle tests on uniform asphalt straight roads.

  • This paper proposes variable stream and sample size(VSSS) group control charts in which both the number of streams selected for sampling and sample size from each of the selected streams are allowed to vary based on the values of the preceding sample statistics. The proposed charts select a small portion of streams and take samples of size n = 1 if both the largest and smallest of sample means fall between the lower and upper threshold limits, and select a large portion of streams and take samples of size n > 1 otherwise. A Markov chain approach is used to derive the formulas for evaluating the performances of the proposed charts. Numerical comparisons are made between the VSSS and fixed stream and sample size(FSSS) group control charts.

  • It is not easy to select a linear mixed model since the main interest for model building could be different and the number of parameters in the model could not be clearly defined. In this paper, performance of conditional Akaike Information Criteria and its bias-corrected version are compared with marginal Bayesian and Akaike Information Criteria through a simulation study. The results from the simulation study indicate that bias-corrected conditional Akaike Information Criteria shows promising performance when candidate models exclude large models containing the true model, but bias-corrected one prefers over-parametrized models more intensively when a set of candidate models increases. Marginal Bayesian and Akaike Information Criteria also have some difficulty to select the true model when the design for random effects is nested.

  • This paper presents a methodology to nominate and select improvement projects that are perceived as adding value to customers (both internal and external). The structure of the methodology can be explained in three "stages." First, the methodology suggests a new way of categorizing improvement opportunities, i.e. reactive-proactive, to "upgrade" the little Q-big Q categorisation. Then, it develops a roadmap that links performance indicators and improvement projects for both reactive and proactive improvements. Finally, it suggests an algorithm to select the improvement project, where the assessment of to what extent the nominated improvement projects add value to customers relies on the comparison between Overall Perceived Benefits (OPB) and Overall Perceived Efforts (OPE). The improvement project perceived as having the largest impact on adding value to customers receives the highest priority.

  • This paper proposes a redesign procedure for assemblability and automatic assembly of an automobile heater blower motor. According to the procedure, redesign alternatives are generated, then the alternatives are evaluated by a weighted objectives method to select one optimal redesign alternative. First, the redesign objectives are identified and the assemblability of the current motor is evaluated to decide redesign rules. Finally, the redesign variants and alternatives are generated using the redesign criteria. This information is then evaluated to select an optimal alternative, determined by weighted evaluation criteria which is established in advance.

  • This study intends to find the empirical relationship between the environmental and organizational characteristics and the strategic use of information systems(SUIS). Sixty-five firms in Korea are surveyed and analyzed to understand the impact of these characteristics on SUIS. As environmental characteristics, we select dynamism, hostility, and heterogeneity. As organizational characteristics, we select centralization, formalization, and IS maturity. The result of correlation analysis shows that formalization and information systems maturity are correlated significantly with SUIS. The result of regression analysis reveals that formalization is a major determinant to influence on SUIS of organization. Also, additional analysis shows that service industry have higher extent of SUIS than manufacturing industry.

  • This paper finds the selecting evaluation index of technical development supporting business, applied to determine its validity. Measuring the new evaluation index for selection against the existing select evaluation index, it shows which index has accurately estimated the ranking of the companies with good performance. Using the BSC and AHP method, this study developed the select evaluation index of technology development supporting business.
