  • Since the TMI and Chernobyl accidents, many passive safety features are suggested in advanced reactors in order to enhance the safety in future nuclear power plants. In order to verify the effectiveness and provide the data for detailed design of passive cooling system, in the present work, the effects of air inlet position and external condition on the natural circulated air flow rate and the natural and forced convective heat transfer coefficient have been investigated for the one-side heated closed path such as the passive containment cooling system of the Westinghouse's AP-600. A series of experiments have been peformed with the 1/26th scaled segment type test facility of the AP-600 passive containment. Under natural and forced convection, the air velocities and temperatures are measured at several points of the air flow path. The experimental result are compared with a simple one-dimensional model and it shows a good agreement.

  • Due to the limitation of construction efficiency and structural safety, the application of the high covering and wide width tunnels was limited prior to the introduction of precast rut and cover tunnels. Therefore, a cut and cover tunnel structure with rib reinforcement is proposed to mechanically improve the safety on condition of high covering and wide width tunnel. Therefore, a technical problem that can provide a response similar to the actual filling conditions is analyzed by the finite element analyses, moreover, the mechanical behaviour of developed rib-reinforced precast tunnel liner through a large-sized model test will be investigated. The ultimate load of the developed rib-reinforced precast tunnel liner shows a 3% reduction compared to existing rib-reinforced precast tunnel liner, especially, the section of rib-reinforcement decreased to 55% compared to it of existing. Therefore, the stability of tunnel structure can be significantly improved through the developed rib-reinforced precast segment.

  • Precast/Prestressed concrete segmental bridges with moderate range of span length normally have a constant section height for economic segment manufacturing. Inside sectional dimension is often controlled for design of non-prismatic section between supports when variable stiffness is required. It is usual, in the preliminary design stage, to adopt trial bridge sections by past experience or by approximately estimated member forces. Three bridge models of different member stiffness have been selected to investigate flexural stiffness effects on member forces for preliminary design stage. The selected bridge stiffness has been determined by the flexibility index from review of the practically usable sections.

  • Embedded system is applied in various fields and must equip system to respond market's requirement which is changing fast. Products that do not equip such fast construction system will have become sterilization. Construction system for Time-To-Market is reusability system or framework that have reused existent product and produce new product. Because embedded system is being based on hardware, amendment is not available easily, but can change system softly using segment of software. Therefore, in this paper, suggest meta-model of reusability framework that can change embedded software. Meta model of this paper suggests dynamic meta-model to design functional flow of reusability framework.

  • This study develops a fitted torso type basic pattern for men by utilizing 3D body scan data. Recent fashion trends are reflected in the development of the pattern. The subjects were 15 men in their 20's, who wear size 95 (M size). Body scan data was obtained through a 3D whole body scanner (WB4, Cyberware, USA), and a body surface development figure for developing male fitted torso type basic pattern was attained through the use of Rapid Form 2006 as well as Auto CAD 2006 programs. The results are as follows: A body surface development figure through body surface segment method showed high exactitude in an error range of 100$\pm$1%. In addition, it occurred in an error range of 100:1:3% because of the hard scanning conditions in the incline of the shoulder and armpit areas. However, the body surface development figure as well as the direct measurement results can be used as basic data for the given patternmaking since the error range falls into 100$\pm$3%. Dart amounts obtained from the average cross section were center back 2.2cm (24.3%), back armpit point 3.8cm (41.8%), front armpit point 3.0cm (33.9%). As shown the jacket pattern, the biggest dart amount was portioned out at the back armpit point. The drafting equations for the development pattern acquired are as follows; Full width=C/2+5cm, back length=height/4-1cm, armhole depth=(C/10+12cm)+3cm, back width=2C/10+2cm, front width=2C/10. The development pattern was a fitted torso basic pattern that was composed of 3 pieces, so it would be very useful in developing shirt or jacket patterns. According to the results of the evaluation of the developed pattern appearance, it obtained higher scores of over 3.5 points in almost items, meaning that the developed pattern is appropriate for a male fitted torso type basic pattern. It suggests a possibility of patternmaking from a body surface development figure in 2-D to prototype.

  • Currently Telematics traffic information services have been various because we can collect real-time traffic information through Intelligent Transport System. In this paper, we proposed and implemented a short-term traffic information prediction model for giving to guarantee the traffic information with high quality in the near future. A Short-term prediction model is for forecasting traffic flows of each segment in the near future. Our prediction model gives an average speed on the each segment from 5 minutes later to 60 minutes later. We designed a Bayesian network for each segment with some casual nodes which makes an impact to the road situation in the future and found out its joint probability density function on the supposition of GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model) using EM(Expectation Maximization) algorithm with training real-time traffic data. To validate the precision of our prediction model we had conducted various experiments with real-time traffic data and computed RMSE(Root Mean Square Error) between a real speed and its prediction speed. As the result, our model gave 4.5, 4.8, 5.2 as an average value of RMSE about 10, 30, 60 minutes later, respectively.

  • Various feature extraction algorithms are widely applied to real-time image processing applications for extracting significant features from images. Feature extraction algorithms are mostly combined with image processing algorithms mostly for image tracking and recognition. Feature extraction function is used to supply feature information to the other image processing algorithms and it is mainly implemented in a preprocessing stage. Nowadays, image processing applications are faced with embedded system implementation for a real-time processing. In order to satisfy this requirement, it is necessary to reduce execution time so as to improve the performance. Reducing the time for executing a feature extraction function dose not only extend the execution time for the other image processing algorithms, but it also helps satisfy a real-time requirement. This paper explains FAST (Feature from Accelerated Segment Test algorithm) of E. Rosten and presents FPGA-based embedded hardware accelerator architecture. The proposed acceleration scheme can be implemented by using approximately 2,217 Flip Flops, 5,034 LUTs, 2,833 Slices, and 18 Block RAMs in the Xilinx Vertex IV FPGA. In the Modelsim - based simulation result, the proposed hardware accelerator takes 3.06 ms to extract 954 features from a image with $640{\times}480$ pixels and this result shows the cost effectiveness of the propose scheme.

  • For a hydro power plant project, the headrace tunnel having a finished diameter of 3.3 m was constructed in volcanic rocks with well-developed vertical joint and high groundwater table. The intake facility was located 20.3km upstream of the powerhouse and headrace tunnel of 20km in length and penstock of 440m in height connected the intake and the powerhouse. The typical caldera lake, Lake Toba set the geology at the site the caving of the ground caused tension cracks in the vertical direction to be developed and initial stresses at the ground to be released. High groundwater table(the maximum head of 20bar) in the area of well-connected vertical joints delayed the progress of tunnel excavation severely due to the excessive inflow of groundwater. The excavation of tunnel was made using open-shield type TBM and mucking cars on the rail. High volume of water inflowraised the water level inside tunnel to 70cm, 17% of tunnel diameter (3.9m) and hindered the mucking of spoil under water. To improve the productivity, several adjustments such as modification of TBM and mucking cars and increase in the number of submersible pumps were made forthe excavation of severe water inflow zone. Since the ground condition encountered during excavation turned out to be much worse, it was decided to adopt PC segment lining instead of RC lining. Besides, depending on the conditions of the water inflow, rock mass condition and internal water pressure, one of the invert PC segment lining with in-situ RC lining, RC lining and steel lining was applied to meet the site specific condition. With the adoption of PC segment lining, modification of TBM and other improvement, the excavation of the tunnel under severe groundwater condition was successfully completed.

  • Three-week-old, broiler-type, mixed sex chicks were divided into replicate groups of 10 birds each and fed for 5 weeks. The wheat bran was defatted and added at 0, 10 and 20% levels. A fourth group received the 20% wheat bran plus a cellulase enzyme added at the level of 0.008%. After a five-week experimental period without a marker a 24-pen battery on the four diets were supplemented with 1% chromic oxide and fed 100g daily. After a 2-day preliminary period, feces were collected three times daily from each diet group for two days at 2, 4 or 8 hours after feeding. At the end of 4 days, within each diet group, birds were randomly selected for slaughter at 2, 4 or 8 hours after feeding and the entire gastrointestinal tract was removed and ligated to form five compartments. The lengths of each segment were measured after straightening, and the gizzard was emptied and weighed. The summarized data showed that the group fed on the high-energy basal diet had the lowest gizzard weight (P〈0.05). Chromium turnover time (minutes) in the each segment and entire GI tract of chicks was not influenced by the high fiber diet or cellulase.

  • Open-vocabulary 3D point cloud instance segmentation (OV-3DIS) is a challenging visual task to segment a 3D scene point cloud into object instances of both base and novel classes. In this paper, we propose a novel model Open3DME for OV-3DIS to address important design issues and overcome limitations of the existing approaches. First, in order to improve the quality of class-agnostic 3D masks, our model makes use of T3DIS, an advanced Transformer-based 3D point cloud instance segmentation model, as mask proposal module. Second, in order to obtain semantically text-aligned visual features of each point cloud segment, our model extracts both 2D and 3D features from the point cloud and the corresponding multi-view RGB images by using pretrained CLIP and OpenSeg encoders respectively. Last, to effectively make use of both 2D and 3D visual features of each point cloud segment during label assignment, our model adopts a unique feature ensemble method. To validate our model, we conducted both quantitative and qualitative experiments on ScanNet-V2 benchmark dataset, demonstrating significant performance gains.
